Some people are driven to madness due to love, depression, or an event; however, this is not the case with hamlet. Hamlet is so intelligent that he has found a way to make everyone around him, no matter how close they may be to him, to think that he has been driven insanity. Hamlet says "How strange or odd some'er I bear myself (As I perchance hereafter shall think meet to put an antic disposition on).” Hamlet is not insane, he has merely fooled everyone into thinking he is. He has done this through the way he speaks, acts, and leads others to realize how inferier they are.

Many would disagree saying that it started as an act but led to true insanity.
Throughout the play Hamlet proceeds to take action in many situations that would lead many to believe that his act has become much more than just that. An argument many of those who think Hamlet is truly mad speak of the scene when Hamlet throws himself in the grave of Ophelia while Laertes, Ophelia's brother, is already in the grave. This causes a fight between Hamlet and Laertes. Even though this event is seen to many as proof of Hamlet's insanity. It proves nothing other than the prominent fact that Hamlet was in love with Ophelia.
Hamlet expressed many of his emotions throughout the play, but these emotions should not be confused with madness. Each emotion he expressed was with good reason, such as when he was angry at his mother for sleeping with his uncle. This caused Hamlet to belittle her with words, proving that his brain is sharp, quick witted, and incredibly intelligent rather than mad.
