Hey, I didn’t see you there, how are you?I'm just wondering whether or not a big ol' grizzly bear is going to come charging at me at any point in my life, but seeing as grizzly bears are endangered that probably won't happen. In the past, there were thought to be around 50,000 grizzly bears in North America, nowadays they are growing sparse there are estimated to be only around 1800, now not even a 20th of the population in the past. Most of these grizzlies are located in Yellowstone National Park and Alaska, but they can also be found in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Montana. Some are thought to be in Washington.
Good literary text can communicate messages more powerfully than good informative text. 2 different texts, Moon Bear Rescue by Kim Dale, and the brochure Southern Asian Moon Bears, are chosen to represent in the argument between literary and informative. Both books are similarly capable of delivering a message, but which is more powerful? Informative clearly states the facts and provide consecutive information; raises awareness for the objective, i.e. Moon Bears, whereas the literary tends to tell more of a story, perhaps information, adapted to entertain the reader, and sometimes, to educate. Because of this, I feel that the literary is much more capable of providing a powerful message, mostly informative text lacks the friendly and heart-warming story that the literary text provides.
After reading the story, Touching Spirit Bear, I learned that the main character, Cole Matthews, is a stubborn, ill-tempered, bully that enjoys watching others suffer and or go through pain. Infact, it is is stubborn, ill-tempered, bullying ways that lands him in his very own jail cell at the age of fifteen. “He was an innocent-looking, baby-faced fifteen-year-old from Minneapolis who had been in trouble with the law half his life.” (pg. 5 Touching Spirit Bear) This piece of information is very important because this leads up to his proper punishment, but if I am correct that quote states that he has been in trouble with the law since he was seven and a half. Finally at the age of fifteen they figured out how to get through
Since the beginning of the year we have been reading a book by Ben Mikaelsen named Touching Spirit Bear. Cole starts out as a devious miscreant who never forgave or forgot. Cole soon gets banished to an island for a year. Throughout his experience he learns to start caring and forgiving after being mauled by a bear. To add to that he makes totem faces for everything he encounters such as sparrows, wolves, mice and bears. Each teaching him how he was and what they represented. This project is about how I can be like Cole and make a totem about my life and each animal face symbolizes every part of my life.
Grizzly Bears and Koalas have differences in their life styles but also have similarities. Both of the animals eat plants for part of their diet. Koalas and Grizzly bears are both mammals and don't lay eggs. Another similarity is their favorite activity is to sleep and eat for the day. Koalas and Grizzly bears are very similar and also
The grizzly bear trophy hunt is an issue regarding the citizens of Canada who immorally hunt and kill grizzly bears for pride, thrill, and trophy. Many people question whether this is morally acceptable as hunters kill without a conscience. Grizzly bears are vital to Canada’s environment as they are essential to maintaining a healthy ecosystem. As keystone species, they regulate prey, disperse seeds of plants, and aerate soil to maintaining forest health. Due to the vulnerability and over-hunting of grizzly bears, Pacific Wild and many other non-profit organizations, are working to protect wildlife in British Columbia, especially the grizzly bear habitat.
grizzly bears prefered habitat is deserted rivers, wild mountains, and thick and dense forest. Grizzly bears are majestic symbols of the wild. Bears live in and use a variety of habitat types, playing important roles in each one. This makes them an “umbrella species,” meaning that when we protect them and their habitat we also protect many species. Grizzly bears can also help ecosystems by distributing seeds and nutrients through their scat, and occasionally regulating ungulate populations.
These new hybrid bears are a good way for the polar bears to be around for many years to come. It allows to live long because they have two different genes in them and it also allows them to survive anywhere in the world because their fur is mixed. They have brown fur that allows them to be on land for a long amount of time and they have white fur which allows them to live in the snow and let them stay in freezing water for a long amount of time.
In Touching Spirit Bear there are many incidents that happen with each character, but there is one thing they all need to know, “Helping others, can help you heal”.
Animal spirits are a product of irrational behavior and are a major driving force in the economy. Intuitive then is the notion that animal spirits are also heavily involved in the process of economic boom and bust cycles. This much is straightforward and in reality seems to be the case. Animal spirits, which were initially defined by John Maynard Keynes, characterizes a variety of exogenous variables that could not be accounted for in the mainstream rational economic theories of the time. This definition was later reclassified by Akerlof and Shiller in their title book and provided some of the mechanics behind seemingly irrational behaviors. Akerlof and Shiller described and highlighted five specific features of animal spirits that affect the
Hundreds of people, who get in the ocean every year, are almost none that encounter sharks. Even if you're lucky enough to see a shark big enough to bite you, you're much likely to die from a heart attack than getting bit by one. Shark attacks are mistakes and the idea of a shark off every beach waiting for people to come in the water is completely untrue. I will inform you on the background knowledge of sharks and the reasons why humans should not be afraid only aware.
In Alaska there are 3 main types of bears. They are brown bears, black bears, and polar bears.
Did you know a cheetah can go from zero to 60 mph in a matter of seconds? The Acinonyx jubatus, also known as a cheetah, is the world's fastest land mammal. These animals are very graceful and able to go very high speed to get their prey. Cheetahs are carnivorous animals that can live from 10 years to 12 years. They are about 3.5 - 4.5 ft wide and their tail adds an extra 25.5 - 31.5 inches in width.
Cole sometimes thinks of his anger like a monster, because he gets too angry. I think Cole has anger problems because in the book when Cole gets to school, if someone bully’s him he gets angry and starts a fight! When Cole was angry with peter he beat him till blood was involved so I think that is what makes him a monster. Cole should at least control his anger! Also sometimes when you get angry your face turns red .Say Cole showed anger towards the Spirit Bear or towards any other animal, the bear would literally crush his body, but it also figuratively crushes his pride and his sense of anger. He felt like a new and a different person after he let his anger out.
