Cancer is a well-known, killer disease in the medical field. Cancer is a defective cell that has made its way somehow through our body’s defense system and grows to become actual cancer. Not only is cancer not a single disease, but individual cancers are made up of multiple different clones of cancer cells under selective pressure to become ever more invasive and deadly. There is scientist that are out there who have the cure to cancer but yet they just don't work for the pharmaceutical. Yes, there are a few cancers that can be cured but yet there are many cancers that are still getting found that we have never seen before. For some reason our doctors can not find the cures like the scientist have. Cancer is not a single disease, it seems to be hundreds of diseases. Although there are many common themes in cancer, such as loss of responsiveness to growth signals with a resultant ability to grow unchecked. Some common things of cancer cells include evasion of programmed cell death, inducing the surrounding tissue to provide a blood supply, evading the immune system, and invading the blood or lymphatic systems to travel elsewhere in the body and take up shop in other organs, such as liver, …show more content…
Cancer is often talked about in terms of years in remission rather than cure because there is still the creeping concern that the cancer will one day resurface. But whereas some “old school surgeons” would see potentially suspicious dark scar tissue on a computed tomography scan and say you cannot say cancer is “cured,” Allison maintains if there is no real evidence that a person still has cancer and they have been in remission for 10 years, “for all intents and purposes it is cured.” Despite the progress against cancer, however, it is still the number-two killer in the U.S. after heart disease. Although more people are living or living longer with cancer than in years past, that is still not truly curing
Isn’t it overwhelming to consider the fact that approximately one in eight deaths in the world are due to cancer? To make this more comprehensible, the number of deaths caused by cancer is greater than caused by AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined. Along with the idea that this disease does not have a definite cure is a mind-staggering concept to grasp. If not caught in time, cancer means guaranteed death. These types of thoughts were floating around my head when my mother had told me that my father had mouth cancer.
The world we live in can be wonderful at times, but can also be dangerous and danger isn’t a good place to start at.The word cancer seems terrifying when someone thinks about it and they should be because there is a lot of types of cancer from all over the word.Cancer is the leading causes of death everywhere you go and it happens from different parts of the body. From someone that doesn’t understand cancer it’s very important to know about the aspects in which they come around. They way a cancer forms, symptons that are caused, and the way each cancer type is treated is very important to consider.
In 2016, an estimated 1,685,210 new cases of cancer were diagnosed in the United States and of those 1,685,210 cases cancer brutally killed 595,690 of the people. Cancer has a major impact on society in the United States and across the world. Cancer leaves families torn, broken-hearted, and forever scared. Cancer is the worst disease known to man, and the worst part is, there is no known cure. With the discovery of a cure for cancer hundreds of thousands of people would get to live their life instead of losing the battle to cancer. I have had many personal experiences with cancer in my family, I recently lost my granny and great-granny to cancer. In addition, it not only hurts the person diagnosed but it hurts everyone who knows the person being diagnosed. With a cure for cancer my neighborhood of the future would be almost perfect. Cancer ruins many lives as it has mine, there is no way to change my life now, but we can help save others lives and futures by finding a cure for cancer in the near
This statement is very true. When someone is diagnosed with cancer it starts a journey down a road that no one wants to travel on. In recent years, there have been countless trials and tests to find a cure for this terrible disease but none have been entirely successful. There are treatments on the market that can help and slow down the process, but they have various side effects that aren’t quite appealing. The best treatments in todays world include; Rituxan, Avastin, Revlimid, and Gleevec. They all have a different tasks and developments that take affects in the body but each remarkable in its own way.
Cancer is a deadly disease that affects millions of American families each year. In cancer, cell division isn't controlled. Usually, cells have to go through a set of checks and balances before they divide, in cancer that is nonexistent. The cells just keep duplicating until they eventually form disorganized clumps called tumors. Tumors can either be, benign, meaning that they do not possess the power to metastasize to surrounding areas. If a tumor has the power to metastasize, it is classified as a malignant tumor. In simple terms, a benign tumor is not cancerous, and a malignant tumor is. Cancer cells cannot perform the necessary functions they were created for. Some types of cancers, like pancreatic cancer, cannot be cured. Other cancers such as melanoma and breast cancer have high survival rates when caught early. The four major types of treatments used to treat cancer include, surgery to remove the affected organ, radiation, chemotherapy, or biological treatments.
“Since 1990, over 6 million Americans have died of cancer, more than the combined casualties from the Civil war, WWII, and the Vietnam and Korean conflicts combined” (Faguet, p. 5). According to American Cancer Society projections, there were 1,529,560 new cases of cancer in 2010. Cancer is becoming more and more common around the world. New cancers are constantly being discovered. Researchers are finding new ways to detect cancer and treat it so that the fatality rate does not rise. However, there are some cancers that researchers have not yet discovered a cure for. It is very important for Cancer Research to continue so that one day these cancers will no longer be a treat.
No one, no matter how weak or strong, rich or poor, tall or small, is safe from the reach of cancer. Cancer is a dangerous disease killing millions every year without any for sure or easy way to treat it. For years people have tried to raise awareness towards cancer but now that it threatens the lives of so many do people listen and try to help. However even with the help of dozens of different groups and agencies cancer rates continue to grow at an alarming rate. Although we have found ways to treat it we only have theories on how to prevent and stop it. What make cancer so deadly are its Symptoms, commonness, dangerous treatments, the many different areas it can affect, and the cost encored.
Fifty years ago, a president boldly said “I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth” (Kennedy). Since then, we have split the atom, spliced the gene, and roamed the surface of the moon. There has been an incredible advancement in medical technology, so why can’t we find a cure for cancer? If the United States government made research less of a financial liability, establish subsidies for less wealthy cancer patients, and let independent researchers be at the helm of research, finding a cure for cancer may be within our grasp. I understand that finding a
Cancer, a disease regarded the most deadly amongst all. Medical teams around the world are trying day and night to find a perfect, stable cure for cancer. Most of the people think of cancer as an incurable disease. Let me tell you. It is a hoax! People must not forget that there is a cure for cancer. These cures include taking medical supplements such as Chaga Mushroom, undergoing medical surgery such as chemotherapy and other natural remedies.
The number of new cases of cancer is 454.8 per 100,000 men and women per year based on 2008-2012 cases. In 2016, an estimated 1,685,210 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed in the United States and 595,690 people will die from the disease. Survival rates are improving for many people with cancer, especially for those diagnosed at younger ages but, cancer is still a leading cause of death in the United States, but advances in radiation, chemotherapy and targeted treatments have improved survival, especially for cancer of the breast, prostate, lung, liver and colon (Rosen, 2016). Different types of cancers are constantly evolving, so the question here is...are cancer treatments improving?
What is cancer? Cancer is the uncontrollable replication of abnormal cells that contain mutated DNA. This results in the growth of cancerous tumours. Cancer is either benign; where the cancer mutation or tumour is not invasive, grows slowly, and does not spread; or malignant; where the cancer mutation or tumour is invasive, grows fast, and quickly spreads throughout the body by means of the lymph and blood.
However, today there is a cure for most cancers, which saves millions. Before people became so educated about how dangerous cancer truly is, it was very undertaken. The death rates for people with cancer soared. Luckily, the medical field today discovered that cancer will kill if it goes untreated. Society’s attitude towards cancer is much more understanding and aware of the long term effects that could
About Cancer Based from worldwide statistics, cancer is the leading cause of most diseases. The estimated number of new cases of cancer is around 14.1 million. Out of that number, the most common cases that occur around the world are lung cancer, female breast cancer, bowel/colorectal, prostate cancer, stomach cancer and liver. If one considers the nature of cancer, most likely the numbers will keep on growing.
We unfortunately live in an age where cancer has become a household word. We all have experienced this catastrophe with at least one relative, friend, colleague or someone we hold dear. This is no strange fact that in India cancer cases have been surging every year. With advancements in medical science, we have been able to fight with it to the very best that we can. In the wake of this, a lot of cancer care hospitals are being set up, both private and government.
