Those who were defined as Jewish by the German government (You were considered Jewish if you practiced the religion and if one of your grandparents was Jewish). were persecuted by the police. To begin, Anne Frank had gone with her family into a hidden Annex. The plan was for them to stay there until the war was over. They had anticipated that it would only be a couple of months, but they were wrong. At the time, they had to wear a star on their coats to represent they were Jewish. They would not be allowed to go to certain places, speak to certain people, and often be resented by everyone else around them. Though they were not alone, “The Van Pels family followed a week later. The two families already knew each other: Hermann van Pels worked for Otto’s company.” (Annefrank.org) Then additionally a dentist moved in for his protection as well. They had multiple people who helped them with this safety and allowed them to stay there. The people helping were Victor Kugler, Johannes Kleiman, Johan Voskuijl, Bep Voskuijl, Jan Gies, and finally Miep Gies. Miep has been one of the key parts of keeping them safe, and why we know about this today. Miep had been the one who had kept Anne Frank's writings after the families had eventually been caught hiding and taken to camps. She found Anne’s diary and kept it. This is one of the main reasons …show more content…
She began to grow, she was only thirteen years old when she first went into hiding. She stayed there with her family for two years, meaning she was fifteen years old when they were found. During this time she had issues, with boys such as Peter, growing up in an area where she could not get any good social life besides her sister and Peter, it was hard for her. Especially due to her lack of food that she got, when a young woman is growing they need food for it to be healthy for them. She was pale, lacking in sunlight, skinny and lacking in food, and that would damage her greatly. Furthermore, within hiding there was a lot more going on inside. With eight people under the care of the helpers, they had to try and feed all of them. There were many arguments between the two families at times, usually with Anne Frank. She went into hiding right before she reached puberty, and being within a hidden area and not being able to grow socially can stunt how someone acts and matures. She had frequent arguments with her mother, mainly due to her sister Margot being the “golden child” as Anne Frank called her. These ongoing arguments and lack of food and sunlight made

Anne Frank was my age, 15, when she was murdered by Nazis during World War II. I can’t even fathom what she must have gone through in the months before her death. Through her diary, one can understand the hardships of the Jewish people in Nazi Germany occupied countries
From the early 1930s Jewish kids would be taunted and bullied, they wouldn’t be allowed to join certain groups or play certain games. Teachers would come to the school wearing swastikas and the Jewish teachers were fired. Anne Frank’s freedom was taken away from her when she went into the annexe but she had no choice it was to be safe or to be killed. She describes her memories and relationships in the books, but can you imagine not being able to go outside at the age of 13? Anne Frank’s family did what they had to do to keep their daughters safe even if it meant sacrificing

Anne Frank and her family lived in Germany during the time following World War I. When the Nazi party came to power in Germany, the Frank’s were forced to flee Germany, and they moved to the Netherlands. Shortly after they moved, the Nazi’s invaded the Netherlands. In order the save their lives, the Franks went into hiding when Anne was at the age of 13. They hid in a “Secret Annex” located in the building where Mr. Frank used to run his business. They had 8 people hiding in a chain of rooms that was smaller than most mobile homes. Because food was being rationed during the war, the Franks, and those that were hiding with them, had to survive on only two ration books. Anne used to pass the time by writing in her diary. It was one of the only ways that she managed to survive and stay sane. She found comfort the words of her diary, and she wanted it to be saved so it could be published after the war. The family as a whole struggled to su...
The Diary of Anne Frank The setting for The Diary of Anne Frank is in a “Secret Annexe” in Amsterdam, Holland. Anne and her family are not the only people that are hiding in the “Secret Annexe,” the Van Daans live with them also. Anne draws a map in the book to show you a layout of the “Secret Annexe.” It’s pretty large, although with eight people living there, it’s quite crowded.
They had to sacrifice their place to many others -sometimes strangers, their food, and their privacy. At some point all the people in the family dreaded that they allowed so many people into the annex with them, and it caused conflict between the families as well as among family members. An example was when Mrs. Frank lost her temper on Mr. Van Daan and said things like “ I’ve watched you day after day and held my tongue. But not any longer! Not after this! Now I want you them to go! I want him to get out of here!” (620) That is a prime example of how people change when they are locked in the same room, because before the Franks went into hiding, Mrs. Frank would have never snapped on somebody the way that she did. During this time in history, Hitler had all of the Jewish people taken to concentration camps and did unimaginable horrible things to them, so that’s why all the Jews were either taken to the camps, fled to other countries, or went into hiding like the Frank family did. Just being the race that they were took courage alone. Anne and the rest of the family had to have courage and be brave because they wouldn’t have survived through the war if they were cowardly and fearful about where their next meal was coming from or if they were going to be caught in hiding. The Franks also had to give each other courage and keep positive thoughts, even if they did not
Sina Salemian Salemian 1 HS English 2;Period 3 Ms.Matthews January 10, 2014 Anne Frank During The Holocaust Anne Frank is a strong young girl that lived during the Holocaust in Amsterdam, Germany. She lived in a very bad time during the Holocaust, where she either had to hide or go to a concentration camp. Anne Frank is a normal girl that should be going to school and not be in hiding from the Nazis and should not have to take the sacrifices of having no friends, no ability to be free and to express her religion. I consider Anne a hero because of all the dedication to staying free and not having to be under a dictatorship.
The diary of Anne Frank is about a jewish girl who documented her time in a diary while she was in hiding during WW2. Anne and her family went in hiding with the Van Daans and were later joined by Mr Dussel. They went hiding in an attic apartment behind Mr Frank's office because Hitler came in power and his goal was to “purify” Germany from jews. They went hiding in early July 1942 after Margot Frank received a letter ordering her to report to a work camp in Germany. The Frank family was very loyal and let the Van Daans stay with them, who weren't very grateful people. Miep and Mr Kraler were non jewish who worked for Mr Frank's business. Miep and Mr Kraler risked their lives to help out the residents by providing food, news and keeping them safe. They were also the key component in the survival of the residents of the Annex. Everyone involved in the hiding showed courage, compassion and sacrifice in one way or another. Some showed it more than others. Courage is the choice and willingness to
Almost everyone has heard the legacy about this young, teenage World War II icon. Her story, her family, her personal life, and almost everything in her life; the reason for this was her diary. Her diary was published by her father, Otto Frank. Although some parts edited out, this diary had become well known as a hopeful yet horrifying time for the Jews. The way Anne Frank wrote about her life made all the horrors of the Holocaust real. She was about 13-years-old when she went into hiding with 7 other people in the place they hid called the Secret Annex. Later, they were found and had an inescapable fate with the concentration camp. The concentration camps were full of revolting conditions; over-packed bunks, starvation, disease, overworking of prisoners, torture, and the scent of death always in the air. There were approximately 6 million Jews killed in this terrifying massacre from all around the world. In these next few statements, I’ll tell you more about the Holocaust, Concentration camps, Anne Frank’s Story, and her legacy she left behind.

On June 12, 1929, at 7:30 AM, a baby girl was born in Frankfort, Germany. No one realized that this infant, who was Jewish, was destined to become one of the worlds most famous victims of World War II. Her name was Anne Frank. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, by Anne Frank and B.M. Mooyaart, was actually the real diary of Anne Frank. Anne was a girl who lived with her family during the time while the Nazis took power over Germany. Because they were Jewish, Otto, Edith, Margot, and Anne Frank immigrated to Holland in 1933. Hitler invaded Holland on May 10, 1940, a month before Anne?s eleventh birthday. In July 1942, Anne's family went into hiding in the Prinsengracht building. Anne and her family called it the 'Secret Annex'. Life there was not easy at all. They had to wake up at 6:45 every morning. Nobody could go outside, nor turn on lights at night. Anne mostly spent her time reading books, writing stories, and of course, making daily entries in her diary. She only kept her diary while hiding from the Nazis. This diary told the story of the excitement and horror in this young girl's life during the Holocaust. Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl reveals the life of a young innocent girl who is forced into hiding from the Nazis because of her religion, Judaism. This book is very informing and enlightening. It introduces a time period of discrimination, unfair judgment, and power-crazed individuals, and with this, it shows the effect on the defenseless.
II. Contrary to the light and amusing tone of the first few entries of Anne Frank, her revelation of her family background uncovers sneak-peeks to the Jewish life in the Second World War, including the restrictive laws implemented by the Nazis against the particular group of people. Prior to Anne’s first diary entry, the Franks, namely Otto, Edith, and their children, Anne and Margot, had emigrated to Holland from Germany to escape Hitler’s propaganda of Anti-Semitism. However, soon, they realized that they had not been liberated yet from the claws of discrimination when Anne’s elder sister, Margot, was summoned by the S.S., the elite Nazi guards, for a call-up, implying that she would be sent to a concentration camp.
