Heading "Gonna go Wild Wild Wild Kratts" Wild Kratts is an animated educational children's television series created by Chris and Martin Kratt and televised by PBS Kids®. It teaches children all about animals in a fun and exciting way by using fictional technology to turn into the animals they learn about. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. I will talk about the creators of Wild Kratts and the stories behind them, some basic information about the show and what it's about, and how Wild Kratts has influenced kids. Who are the creators behind this show? The creator of this show is The Kratt Brothers Company, specifically the brothers Chris and Martin Kratts. The eldest, Martin William Kratt, was born December 23, 1965; afterward, the younger brother, …show more content…
In 1990, Chris worked as an intern at Conservation International in Washington, D.C. Subsequently, he started the Carleton Organization for Biodiversity. His brother Martin attended Duke University, chose zoology as his major, and became a research aide for a howler monkey project with Dr. Kenneth Glander in Costa Rica. Let me give you some background knowledge on Wild Kratts. The start of each show episode features a live-action segment of the Kratt brothers. In this segment, the brothers describe a specific animal species' unique characteristics and abilities, referred to as its "creature powers." They then transition to the episode by posing a question: "Imagine we had the powers of this animal. What if I have a problem?" (They use "creature power suits" to turn into the animals), then they transform into animated versions of themselves and begin the episode. Chris and Martin Kratt are not the only characters on the show. They have a whole team living on a turtle ship called the "Tortuga." Aviva is a biomechanical engineer who invented "creature power suits." She has also created other equipment for the Kratt
Although Chris McCandless' life at home growing up was hounded by his so called "ignorant" father or his "bigot" parents, made the best out of his life whenever he could. He was on the cross country team when he was younger, and they all ran out into the wild almost, purposely getting lost. Being on that team and experiencing that made him happier and started his interest and passion for embracing nature. Chris even found solace and was content with providing food, such as hamburgers, stated by his cross country teammate Eric Hathway, providing company to people less fortunate than him. Taking hikes with his grandfather and doing things as mentioned previously (cross country), eventually influenced him to make his greatest adventure and unbeknownst
In the novel Into the Wild, Jon Krakauer can be described as an adventure to the end. One example of how Chris was a thrill seeker by being adventurous through the world is when he went out on his own to Alaska. This character can also be described as arrogant , especially when he wouldn’t let anyone help him. Finally, this character can also be considered courageous when he wants to go out and live his life to the fullest how he wants. In the biggest decisions in people's lives they have to think about it before acting or they will never succeed, not everyone can do it on their own and need at least some
The second of the two forces that drove Chris McCandless into the wild is his rebellious youth and risk taking tendencies. After McCandless imagined himself out in the wild, he believed he was “invincible” and could
Katmai National Park and Preserve encompasses 3,674,529.68 acres of land. It would fit in the state of Pennsylvania about eight times. Katmai National Park and Preserve is located on the northern tip of the Alaskan Peninsula and is made up of six active volcanoes and the surrounding forests, lakes, and mountains. Maybe the most well known of the volcanoes are Novarupta and Mount Katmai, famous for their eruption in 1912.
Throughout his adolescent to young adult years it was very clear that Chris had an attachment to the wild. In chapter 11, as Walt reminisces about Chris and their family camp trips he reflects, “‘Chris loved those trips, the longer the better . . .’”(108). Even at a very young age, Chris had a fascination about living within the wild, making him ecstatic whenever he had the c...
Chris McCandless was someone who wouldn’t take “no” for an answer. Because of this, he died sometime in August 1992. McCandless, who graduated college in 1990, spent the better part of two years traveling the country in preparation for his ultimate goal, surviving in the Alaskan Bush. Now, however, he is the main character in Into the Wild, where he merely represents overconfidence and ignorance. Chris McCandless was ignoble because he continuously ignored the advice given from others, and was too overzealous in achieving his goal, leaving him unprepared for the harsh conditions of the Alaskan Bush.
Chris McCandless's passion for nature seemed to be endless. Krakauer mentioned that Chris McCandless's passion for nature was evidently seen when he was eight--his first backpacking trip with his father. And it continues to grow as he grew older. After he decided to give up ...
The Animal Kingdom is a modern exhibit designed to follow the “natural pattern” of an African community. The most eye-popping attraction, the Kilamanjaro Safari, is an open-air, nearly barrier-free animal reserve at Florida’s Walt Disney World. It was a major shift from a cow playground to a zone of care for other wise caged animals. Here, African animals freely roam through acres of savanna, rivers, and rocky hills. The rider is advised to be aware, “You never know what could happen in the wilderness” (Tate 1).
Imagine wanting not a puppy, but a tiger for your birthday, imagine the expenses of that tiger and the dangers and hazards of owning that tiger. Do you really think it’s a good idea to get that tiger? No, it’s not. It’s a lot of work, and it’s also very dangerous. Exotic animals are not good to buy and have. If you buy that cute tiger, it will eventually grow up and not be so cute, it will be dangerous and strong, it’s also a wild animal and it’s very unpredictable, also there are many diseases you can catch from that tiger, and there are many dangers of having that tiger as well. Gasping for a single breath, eagerly the nine boys in the Husky Clipper waited in angst to hear the results of their final race. “USA!” They had done it, the nine mostly poor, inexperienced boys of the University of Washington crew formed into unstoppable gold medalists at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The Boys in the Boat, written by Daniel James Brown, was first published in 2013. Daniel James Brown retells the story in third-person omniscient.
The most unique feature of the platypus is the soft and pliable bill. The bill surface is perforated with openings that contain nerve endings, which allow the animal to locate food and aid movement under water. These pores contain two types of sensory receptors: mechanoreceptors, which respond to tactile pressure, and electroreceptors, which respond to electric fields. The eyes and ear openings are located behind the bill in a muscular groove, which contracts and closes as the platypus dives (Griffiths, 1998). The nostrils are positioned towards the tip of the bill and are slightly elevated upwards to allow breathing whilst the body is beneath the surface (Figure 1).
One of my favorite books when I was little was "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak. I’m sure many of you here tonight are quite familiar with it. It is about a young boy named Max who loves to dress up in his wolf suit and cause trouble. When his mother disapproves, Max creates a world of make-believe with his imagination in which he is king of all wild things. Here he is accepted and revered for his savage behavior. I loved it in my younger days because of the pictures of the big monsters and was jealous of the boy who got the chance to live with them. I always wanted to be that boy. To be a "wild thing," carefree, with no responsibilities or authority figure to answer to.
Modern-day genetic technology has granted mankind with the opportunity to bring back extinct species from the dead. If humans have come to possess the DNA from an extinct animal population, it is possible to create an identical clone of the animal in question, effectively “bringing it back from the dead”. Many ethical dilemmas surround the practice of de-extinction, and rightfully so. Recreating an extinct species could produce groundbreaking scientific breakthroughs, generating exciting opportunities for future genetics-based research. However, there could also be monumental consequences: the newly revived, once-extinct species might destroy the ecological equilibrium of modern Earth

In our world today we have approximately 26,021 endangered species. Endangered species are organisms that may possible become extinct. The term 'endangered species' refers to all species that fits this description. However some conservation biologists and scientists normally use the term ‘endangered species’ to refer to species that are put on the IUCN(International Union for Conservation of Nature)Red List. Many factors can be looked at when considering the conservation status of a species. Factors such as human threats or environmental threats can cause a species to become endangered.
