The Fringe Festival Fringe Festival was quite a popular activity in Rochester. Most of the events are operated at the downtown area. I used to have the cello class at Eastman area. During fringe festival, it was always hard to find parking lots since most of them were occupied. I also have gone to the fringe festival last year. One show I remembered most was people dancing on the side of the building with the help of cable wires. Basically they performedat the state of hanging in the air. The show was very fascinating and breathing taking. And this year, the dance show was also very exciting. And it was quite like what we saw at a circus. The name of the performance was STREB in SEA (Singular Extreme Actions). The first time I saw the poster of the show I thought it was something like last year’s performance since on the picture it was people facing down in the air in front of some metal shelves. Therefore I thought it was similar strategies: hanging in the air and dancing, with the help of steel cable. And it turned out to be not the same case. The thirty minutes’ performance put great emphasis on group work and balance control. …show more content…
Starting from static state, people climbed on the half circle and used their weight to make the half circle move. And then these people jumped on the rotating half circle. At the end, they jumped on a cushion in front of the trampoline. One movement impressed me most was that these people jumped on the cushion: sometimes they jump at the same time, sometimes they do it separately. It was quite anxious to watch the performance since one little mistake would lead to horrible consequences. The cooperation within group is

When carnival was created it was a day for the peasants to have freedom to do what they wanted to the kings and the hierarchy above them, but my question is why did the kings take it to heart? If what the Kings do to the peasants on a daily basis is not accepted when it is done to them on the day of carnival, then why do it at all?

In the essay "A Modest Proposal" Johnathan Smith proposes a shocking way to alleviate poverty and overpopulation. In the essay "The Singer Solution to World Poverty" Peter Singer argues that wealthy individuals should donate a significant portion of their income to help people in need and to reduce global poverty. While both authors present a clear and arguable position, their arguments differ significantly in terms of plausibility, evidence, and tone. Singer presents a clear and arguable position because he talks about the issue of poverty and how people have a moral obligation to help alleviate it. Evidence states that “One genuine difference between Bob and those who can afford to donate to overseas aid organizations but don't is that only
Over Halloween weekend, Dance TCU in concert, performed at Ed Landreth Hall on the TCU campus, was a mid term showcase performed by the students in the TCU School for Classical and Contemporary Dance. The overall mood was very professional. These college level dancers performed various pieces from Giselle to video edited versions of dance to contemporary dances inspired by swing dancing. Each piece was unique and whether the style was classical or contemporary, the execution was very good. The quality of the performance was spectacular and showed all the work that everyone involved in the production has put out to perfect all the aspects of the show come together. While there were some minor technique errors, the staging, costume design, lighting,
This dance acted as a substitute for physical violence back in the 1970s. Nowadays, we know these by the name of “dance battles”.
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival A quick jump back across the pond and we reach Edinburgh, Scotland for the Fringe Festival. Established back in 1947 it may not have as long a history of some of the other festivals from around the globe but the city it's built on certainly has. The castle and winding Old Town streets of Scotland's capital make it an enchanting place to hold the world largest arts festival. For the month of August the festivities set the city alight with street performers, comedians and showmen from all corners of the world coming to make their name or just enjoy the abstract artistic revelry of a city full of inspiration. Throughout the city underground bars, clubs and outdoor areas become the playground of aspiring artists as the city kicks into overdrive and the nightlife lives on until 5am with extended bar and club licenses.
Dance is a part of every culture. Whether it is the fire dances of the native Hawaiians, or the Tango from Spain, dance is a part of every culture. This event is not an event I would usually attend. Theatre as we know it now was born more than two thousand years ago and has gone through many streams until it reached the current modernity. Among these streams is the avant-garde theatre. This theatre achieved a break in the traditional theatre and became the forefront of a new experimental theatre. Therefore it is necessary to ask how this theatre started, what impact it had on society and if this type of theatre is still common in our modern era.
On the night of the DancePlus performance, I saw numerous little performances. There were six of them in total and the one I had most reactions and favors to is the last one of the first half, which is called Swampin. It was choreographed by John Evans with additional material by Oluwadamilare Ayoride, Jennifer Payan and surprisingly, the dancers. Usually what I would expect from a piece of dance performance is choreographers dominating the process of being creative on the grounds o f coming up dance moves. However, this time, it is nice to see how the dancer actually participating first hand in the creating process of the whole performance which would definitely benefit the quality of the dance, since the dancers would their own choreography
