CBD offers potential non-toxic therapy that could treat aggressive forms of cancer without any of the painful side effects of chemotherapy. In addition to cancer relief, there are many benefits of CBD for all patients over coming challenging illnesses. The growing awareness about the possible health benefits of CBD is starting to outweigh the controversy due to recent positive research. Researchers have found that CBD may also change the way your brain’s receptors respond to serotonin, a chemical linked to mental health. The cell receptors that receive chemical messages and help your cells respond to different stimuli, respond positively to CBD and aide in reducing stress, decreasing even physiological effects of anxiety, such as an increased heart rate. It also improves symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and induces sleep in cases of insomnia. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/567101778070006628/ Scientific findings are illuminating novel treatment strategies for many illnesses, and CBD is being increasingly recognized as an effective advancement in healing therapeutics. middle of paper ... ... Cannabis has been used throughout the ages in many societies around the world to treat many conditions; an ancient Chinese emperor prescribed it to cure conditions such as gout and malaria, soon its healing properties were heard around the world and the use of cannabis as a medicine spread like wildfire to many other regions (Earleywine, p. 168). In fact, marijuana was legal in the United States until 1942 when, against the medical community's recommendation, it was removed from the list of acceptable medications. Today there are numerous studies being conducted on the effects of medical marijuana and scientists have proven its effects on treating many symptoms.
CBD is just one compound in about 80 active chemicals in the marijuana plant. Unlike THC the psychoactive cannabinoid in marijuana that makes you high, CBD is non-psychoactive. Medical marijuana is grown specifically for its high concentration of THC, but hemp is bred to contain the lowest concentrations of THC. So, when you buy CBD hemp oil rather than that made from medical marijuana, you are getting oil high in CBD with practically no significant amount of THC.
Thesis: Despite its legal status cannabis and CBD has been recognized as being beneficial in many ways. After all, cannabis and CBD has been medically beneficial when treating pain, seizures, and cancer.
With marijuana is becoming legal in some states for medical reasons, other states are still questioning how marijuana can be beneficial and even a problem. In “The Truth about Medical Marijuana” by Carrie Shortsleeve, published in 2013 on the website Men’s Health, Shortsleeve describes how tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, found in marijuana, can be used for medical benefits. In the passage, she explains how the immune system and brain are affected by THC especially if the substance is high in dosage. When Dr. Mahmoud ElSohly, Ph.D., “the director of the University of Mississippi’s Marijuana Project,” injured his back, he begins to research what benefits marijuana has when using the drug as medicine, and Shortsleeve shares this with people who maybe considering medical marijuana. Shortsleeve uses statistics, in depth research, and real- life situations to show how some people trust marijuana as medicine; even though, some of these people were once against medical marijuana.
In both these cases, medical cannabis can help reduce opioid cravings. The CBD in medical cannabis interacts with the brain’s serotonin system, which plays a role in addiction. CBD can thus reduce the risk of opioid dependence and overdose, as well as diminish withdrawal
THC and cancer- Tetrahydrocannabinol is believed to reduce side effects of chemotherapy like nausea and vomiting, in people with cancer. I also increase their appetite to eat. It does this by inhibiting cell cycle progression in cancer cells through Cdc2 directive. It keeps cells in G2-M phases of the cell cycle by down-regulation of Cdc2 (Caffarel et al., 2006:66). It causes an increase in ceramide synthesis which drives cell synthesis.
There are at least two active chemicals in marijuana that have medicinal benefits. One chemical is cannabidiol (CBD), which appears to impact the brain without a high. The second chemical is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which has pain relieving and other properties.
In this essay I will explore the positive and negative effects of legalizing Cannabis in California. I support the legalization of Cannabis, these are my reasons why; If California does legalize Cannabis then it would decrease the money spent on drug enforcement and criminal persecution. Legalizing Cannabis would also reduce the value of the black market product. It would also generate revenue for the California economy because it would be a taxable item that is in high demand.

...motherapy, Crohn’s disease, insomnia, glaucoma, epilepsy, migraines, lack of appetite, and arthritis. The effects on these medical issues after consumption reduce the feeling of anxiety and pain. The cannabinoids found in marijuana are scientifically proven to slow the growth of cancer cells.
With the country's deficit going up we the U.S. have been trying to create ways to get out of debt, but none of those ways are effectively getting the U.S. out of debt quickly. in this argument I have six reasons why the cannabis act may benefit the U.S. in the long run. in the first contention I will explain the taxation of marijuana, in my second I will explain the health benefits, in my third contention I will give you the possible jobs that will be created if the act is passed, my fourth I will inform you on how the legalization of the cannabis act will save tax money in the criminal justice system, my fifth contention i will breakdown the way marijuana will somewhat calm the war on drugs, and my sixth and final contention I will inform you when the bill should be passed, who will pass the new laws regarding the cannabis act, who will enforce the laws, where the cannabis act will be practiced, and how we the people will come to a conclusion to the act ( agree/disagree).
So far, twenty-three states have legalized cannabis for medical uses. Originally, medical marijuana was use for lesser ailment like pain or insomnia due to the lack or research. Then as people started to do more research they realized marijuana could actually help patient with more serious conditions like glaucoma, or to help those who suffer form seizures, or even to fight cancer. Marijuana helps people with cancer a great deal. For starters, the chemicals in marijuana make patients hungry and help to keep patients strong. Second, research has shown promising evidence that the chemicals in cannabis fight the spreading of cancer cells and even help to kill cancer cells. Medical marijuana also helps to prevent users from obtaining other serious afflictions. Currently, researchers are studying the way the chemicals in marijuana effect amyloid plaques. Amyloid plaques, are the number one cause of Alzheimer’s disease, and researchers now believe marijuana use can help fight and help prevent this horrible disease. All of these studies could help to one day make incredible break throughs in modern medicine, and possibly find cures for Cancer and Alzheimer’s disease. Medicinal marijuana is just one reason for the legalization of
...eveloping parts, the frontal cortex, is responsible for planning, judgment, decision-making and personality. Teenagers also have to deal with the immaturity of their endocannabinoid system. This system is accountable for the psychological mechanisms that respond to the active drug in marijuana, THC. Krista Lisdahl, PhD, the director of the Brain Imaging and Neuropsychological Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, states, “That system (endocannabinoid) is important for cognition, neurodevelopment, stress response and emotional control, and it helps to modulate other major neurotransmitter systems” (Lisdahl). Frequent exposure to marijuana can “dial down cellular activity in the endocannabinoid system… That sets the stage for why adolescents may be more sensitive to the effects of repeated marijuana exposure, from a neuroscience perspective." (Lisdahl)
There are many other uses for medical cannabis including treating symptoms of IBS, Chron’s disease and other gastrointestinal disorders, pain relief from cancer and multiple sclerosis, the prevention of Alzheimer’s and helping individuals suffering from ADD, seizures or Tourette’s. Unfortunately, the federal government fails to see the many benefits of cannabis and clear proof shown in the countless peer-reviewed studies done through the years and instead maintains its classification as one of the most dangerous drugs with no acceptable medical benefits. More and more states are taking steps to regain their rightful authority from an over-reaching federal government, and taking the necessary steps to offer relief to many patients suffering from a wide array of maladies.
