Information Process through the Health Field: “Nursing.” Throughout the world and many other fields, there are a lot of involvement and critique about how information will be arranged and decided so people will actually benefit from it. It is very clear that it the take time to gather information needed to be able to help the community or society. To understand how information is gathering through nursing, we have to see more about the outcomes of it. Because we all live in a society where technology like computers become the engine of how information are the process. Data collection is useful to the entire nursing field in decision-making; even at operation room and tactical. The Information system can play a role in the community health include the people, the structure, processes of how the nursing department should run, and the makes of a manual to inform people for awareness. Moreover, there are certain tools that can store data, interpret it, change it, and report any kind of problems relates to patient case. In the book Nursing Leadership and Management : Theories, Processes, and Practice; Jones and Rebecca A. Patronis (2007) mention that ,“The individual who does the work of the organization is the one who knows the most about it.Participative and transformational leaders enter into relationships with the professionals in their organizations. They share information, discuss values, and collaborate on decisions. The self-esteem of team members correlates with involve-ment with decision making.” It is significant that you have to be able to work in the field of nursing to be able to participate in the decision- making or information process; for instance, you can’t be in other fields like sociology or criminology to participate in a group discussion concerning Nursing. They can’t just rely on the information given to them. They will like to see if that information that is provided will have a cure of what the patient is passing through or if the information provided will make a change in the population or society. If the decision will require the need for change then I will say ,the higher the number of people whose opinion have been considered , the greater will able to support for the change. Sometimes decision supposed to make quickly without the concern from those who will be affected by the decision. However, there is a problem in the running of how information in Nursing are processed because a decision making without a consideration with other agencies can often result in an unnecessary waste of time and can lead to negative outcomes .So it is the right of individuals to have a total vision of the Nursing organization, and keep the track about day to day happening. Standing Mooi has a way to describe steps or way nursing gather information through evaluation and judgement by asking important questions
Nurses should foster collaborative planning to provide safe, high-quality, patient-centered health care. As nurses, we probably know the patients the best since we spend much more time with them than any other members of the care team. We are the liaison between the patient and the rest of the care team. We need to identify a potential problem or issue, and bring it to the attention of the whole care team. We should facilitate mutual trust, respect, shared decision-making, and open communication among all relevant persons in the care of the patients. With the collaborative support of the whole care team, the patients are in a much better position and are more likely to make an informed and deliberate decision. Besides, the collaboration among the care team can facilitate communication among the care providers, and provide a channel for the care providers to vent their stress caused by the ethical dilemmas that they encounter in work. The support from peers is very important for care providers to maintain their emotional and psychological
To attain this goal, nurses must work in collaboration with other members of the health care team. To improve efficiency, the health care environment must foster the development of collaborative relations among health care professionals. Trust, open communication, commitment, and shared goals must be present to support collaborative relations and effective teamwork. Health care organizations continue to place a greater demand on health care professionals while often working with limited resources. In a recent study focused on determining if there was a current or impending shortage of nurses in care settings throughout the United States, 81% of the 178 hospitals sampled indicated they have or are an... ...
Nursing leaders ' responsibility extends to become a voice for the nurses and for offering quality in patient care, not just at their organizations but spanning the whole communities, interacting with law makers in revising regulations and laws, with researchers and educators. Nurse leaders, in particular those at manager and supervisory levels are spread sparsely. They are involved in business planning, human resources, information management and writing reports. It is advisable for them to refocus the leadership on care which matters to patients which is the essence of
This is a practice that provides a thinking framework through the provision of nursing skills to an organization. It is a useful, flexible tool in nursing practices that allows one to think and develop more creativity. Nursing process involves five phases in which when combined
They are to assess, evaluate, share and collaborate patient information to other health professionals to maintain quality and safe care delivery (NMBA, 2010). For example, scenario two illustrates an effective collaboration and communication between the nurse and other health professionals (Scenario 2: Leadership and teamwork in medical emergency teams [Scenario 2], 2012). She made recordings of the patient’s health status, and was able to share her analysis to the leader which enabled him to devise a plan and inform the family immediately. Therefore, effective team work is evident in scenario two. They were able to communicate, trust and respect each other’s opinion in which it provided the most appropriate treatment for the patient (Scenario 2: Leadership and teamwork in medical emergency teams [Scenario 2], 2012). On the other hand, in scenario one, the enrolled nurse failed to evaluate and record her assessment regarding patient’s health (Scenario 1: Leadership and teamwork in medical emergency teams [Scenario1],
The purpose of this paper is to describe the role and functions of the Director of Health Information Management and the Supervisor of Medical Records Coder. I will provide a synopsis of what I observed and the activities I participated in during the learning experience. In addition I will provide an analysis of their primary roles and functions as they relate to nursing and patient services. Additionally, I will provide insights I have gained into the leadership behaviors or style as a result of my observations and interactions. Finally I will summarize my learning experience by comparing my observations to sources from the literature that present evidence, best practices, or standards related to this specific role.
Information Systems/Technology and patient care technology for the improvement and transformation of health care is an important part of the DNP. Technology has transformed every aspect of human life in positive ways. Technology brought efficiency and improved healthcare deliverance system. Healthcare technologies enabled practitioners to better understand disease process and how to implement best treatment plan. DNP programs across the country embrace information systems and technology in their nursing curriculum because, it prepares nursing students to be innovative and deliver best care (AACN, 2006). DNP graduates must have the ability to use technology to analyze and disseminate critical information to find solutions that
Some aspects of the nurse’s job have been made easy and facilitated with the aid of other well trained professionals within their working environments. According to the American Nurses Association (ANA) (2012), registered nurse’s performance has greatly improved over the years as a result of their coordination and partnership with the health care system with other health care providers. As a result, registered nurses are today seen to occupy important leadership positions in the healthcare system and they participate when they are making decisions for patients as well as for other
However, one’s attitude towards incorporating and utilizing nursing standards in their practice is essential in determining its success or failure. Having an attitude of acceptance and valuing new ideas is something that I am beginning to acquire in my nursing practice. My positively changing attitude is applied to the leadership standard of nursing. Functioning effectively within a multi-faceted team requires open communication, shared decision making, and mutual respect. I am learning to have better leadership attitudes as it relates to appreciating the importance of collaboration between the multi-disciplinary medical team, respecting the unique qualities of each member, and acknowledging my own contributions to the effectiveness or dysfunction of the team. As discussed in the skills section of leadership, the BSN nurse will have greater influence in helping to convey appropriate attitudes to nursing standards as they are more often in positions of management and leadership
A very important concept that needs to be implemented world-wide is collaboration. Collaboration can be defined as “working with other individuals or groups to achieve a common goal. It differs from cooperation which involves groups working together to achieve their own individual goals’’ (Tomajan, 2012). This concept is critical in making the nursing image as clear and accurate as possible while also properly representing the profession. Worldwide, if nurses can represent themselves in a particular way, having the same ideals, morals, and knowledge, there would be little room for people to criticize the profession. Collaborating also allows for the formation of new ideas and discoveries, strengthening the knowledge of nurses and creating the opportunity for more authority. The entire profession as a whole need to help everyone understand what nurses really do for patients. Nurses are the invisible hand behind the success in every hospital or health-care facility. From a quick visit to the doctors to an emergency room visit, the ones the patients interact with and grow a relationship with are the nurses. The nurses know the ins and outs of every patient and have the direct connection with the patient along with tremendous knowledge and skills. This needs to be addressed in the media rather than challenging the nursing image. Giving
Also, these studies question those who are effected; in this case, those who are most effected, is everyone. Doctors and nurses spend the most time working within these systems, but the information that is put into these systems effects every individual in America, because it is their information. Because nurses are often considered “both coordinators and providers of patient care” and they “attend to the whole patient,” their opinion is highly regarded (Otieno, Toyama, Asonuma, Kanai-Pak, & Naitoh, 2007, p. 210). It is clear that the use of these new systems is much debated, and many people have their own, individualized opinion. This information suggests that when there is a problem in the medical field, those who address it attempt to gather opinions from everyone who is involved before proceeding. It has been proven by multiple studies that this system of record keeping does in fact have potential to significantly improve patient health through efficiency, and it is because of this that the majority of hospitals have already completed, or begun the transfer from paperless to electronic (Otieno, Toyama, Asonuma, Kanai-Pak, & Naitoh,

The leaders will follow staff nurses during report offering advice and providing guidance. (Ferris, 2013) Strong leadership and communication skills are essential in order to create an atmosphere of trust. Those qualities will also initiate change in the attitudes and behaviours of staff in a complex environment. (Evans, 2012) Binders will also be placed at each nursing station to allow the nurses to write down any concerns or feedback management may need to know about the process. Then, weekly management will review the feedback left in the binder and address with the nurses during staff
In today’s society, leadership is a common yet useful trait used in every aspect of life and how we use this trait depends on our role. What defines leadership is when someone has the capability to lead an organization or a group of people. There are many examples that display a great sense of leadership such being an educator in health, a parent to their child, or even a nurse. In the medical field, leadership is highly used among nurses, doctors, nurse managers, director of nursing, and even the vice president of patient care services. Among the many positions in the nursing field, one who is a nurse manager shows great leadership. The reason why nurse manager plays an important role in patient care is because it is known to be the most difficult position. As a nurse manager, one must deal with many patient care issues, relationships with medical staff, staff concerns, supplies, as well as maintaining work-life balance. Also, a nurse manager represents leadership by being accountable for the many responsibilities he or she holds. Furthermore, this position is a collaborative yet vital role because they provide the connection between nursing staff and higher level superiors, as well as giving direction and organization to accomplish tasks and goals. In addition, nurse managers provide nurse-patient ratios and the amount of workload nursing staff has. It is their responsibility to make sure that nursing staff is productive and well balanced between their work and personal lives.
Nursing Informatics is a nursing field that involves record keeping and focuses on finding ways to improve information management and communications in nursing to improve efficiency, reduce costs and enhance the quality of patient care. This field is primarily administrative but plays a part in patient care and quality of health care. There are other types of nurses, but many people focus on the nurses who perform the medical treatments with the doctors. This is evident in many films, TV shows, and in other popular media outlets. However, many people do not know what nursing informatics is nor pay attention to that side of nursing which involves the documentation of records and other miscellaneous items, use of advances in technology to improve
