Art has influenced my life dramatically as it made me grow into the young man I am today. Art has been shown in music and movies because it goes through the creative process just like all other art. In this essay, I will explain how both music and movies influenced my life.
My first impression of music was positive after listening to Michael Jackson. His beats and rhythms were different than anything I have ever heard before. Listening to Michael Jackson helped me grow up to be friendly, easy-going, and opened minded to new things. His music made me feel as if every horrible situation can be seen as a way to better myself because his music was always so positive and always targeted to help others and teach people to have a voice for something they believe in. I have been seen as an outspoken person and I give the credit to Michael Jackson’s music.
Michael Jackson’s creativity in his music is something that I have been trying to transform in writing, basketball, and in my life in general. For example his silver hand glove to hide his melanoma was a perfect example of cre...
Michael Jackson is one of the most widely beloved entertainers and profoundly influential artists of all time; he leaves an indelible imprint on popular music and culture. Commonly referred to as the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson continues to earn millions of dollars beyond the grave- earning over $700 million in the years since he passed away in 2009. As the pop genre derives from an abbreviation of “popular”, the King of Pop maintained record breaking popularity for extended periods of time. Pop music, is typically short and simple commercially recorded songs oriented towards a youth market; the King of Pop challenged stereotypes and the viewpoints of his audience with songs like “We are the World”, “Man in the Mirror” and many more.
Unquestionably one of the most influential musical pioneers of the last half-century, James Brown, often known as “The Godfather of Soul”, laid a musical foundation that many artists were influenced by. Ranging from Mick Jagger to Afrika Bambaataa to Jay Z, Brown’s musical characteristics can be seen in various artists. How did the music of Michael Jackson demonstrate the influence of James Brown?

The late Michael Joseph Jackson was a 20th-century African-American singer and songwriter who transformed the face of pop music and popular culture throughout his lifetime (Michael Joseph Jackson ). Debuted in the professional music world in 1968 at the age of 10 as a member of The Jackson 5, Jackson’s rise to fame had been largely influenced by his invaluable contributions to the music, dance and fashion industries (Michael Joseph Jackson). Hailed as the ‘King of Pop’, his solo album “Thriller” remains “the best-selling album of all time”, with global sales of “over 51 million copies to date since 1982” (Guinness World Records ). Michael Jackson’s one-of-a-kind songs have also earned him over 700 awards, including 13 Grammy Awards as well as the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award (Michael Jackson; Grammy). However, his music recognition goes beyond what his cupboard-full of awards could ever represent. In this paper, I propose that Michael Jackson’s songs have touched and changed many lives through his constant fight for racial fairness. In particular, I argue that Michael Jackson used his music career as an outlet to break down racial barriers in the American music industry, to express his disappointment towards racial discrimination, to demonstrate his support for racial equality, to advocate that the color of our skin does not differ us from one another, as well as to show and guide others that change has to begin within oneself before impacting the world . Although certain parties would point out that Jackson used derogatory r...
Michael Jackson wowed the world with his remarkable natural voice and dance moves that led him to make the most touching and relatable songs. Michael began singing with his four other brothers in the band the Jackson 5. At a young age,“ his voice worked beyond conventional notions of male-soul vocals – even beyond gender. He was the most advanced popular singer of his age in the history of recorded music. His untrained tenor was uncanny” (Mich...
Madonna stated “My God, he was so unique, so original, so rare. And there will never be anyone like him again.” And Whitney Houston hailed him as the greatest entertainer. He had a lot of influence on artist like Beyoncé, Chris Brown, Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake and many more entertainers. His impact on them shaped the music we listen on a radio today and without him the fashion, music videos, and dances would be different. Beyoncé is popular today because of Michael Jackson. She stated “Michael taught me that sometimes you have to forget technique, forget what you have on. If you feel silly, you have to go from the gut just let it go. Michael Jackson changed me, and helped me to become the artist I am thank you Michael.” This is not the only artist he had an impact
An icon for decades, legend for an eternity, Michael Jackson 's impact on the world continues to thrive as a silhouette amongst pop culture. His music has influenced many people to "Xscape" from the deceptions of all the "Dirty Diana[s]." Yet, his talent has encouraged people to "Scream" through all the "Thriller[s]" they receive as his stardom illuminates the stage as the "Smooth Criminal" of performances. His songs vary from selections that you can "Jam" to, those that promote tough love and adornment, while some are advocates for equality. Jackson is and will remain one of the most profound superstars of his time and one of most dynamic artist in "HIStory."
Introduction: Perhaps no one has received this title in history “the king of pop”, now a days many artist’s have arisen and have performed but not as the king of pop known worldwide and in history, has dominated the world of pop as Michael Jackson.
Michael Jackson was a prominent role model of the 1980’s and 90’s and his songs influenced a lot people. He is known as “The King Of Pop” due to many of his songs and his talented singing voice and dancing. He started at a young age, beginning his singing career at the age of 5 years old. Here he joined his brothers and made The Jackson 5. By his teenage years he began to stand out and started his own solo career as an artist. One of Michael’s biggest problems he had to face was a horrible skin condition called Vitiligo. It is a chronic skin condition that causes loss of pigment. Irregular pale patches of skin are the outcome of this pigment loss and a lot of people refer to it as “turning from black to white.” Jackson’s doctor, Patrick Treacy, reported to the public, “It is well documented that in 1986, Michael was diagnosed with Vitiligo” (). This was the beginning of his transformation. He saw both sides of each race, which helped his relate to one of his very popular songs, “Black or White.”
Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to change my mood when I'm feeling down, but the thing I find most intriguing about music is that it doesn't always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses in the same piece. This quality is present in most of the wide variety of music I listen to, from Russian composer Dmiti Shostakovich, to Chicago jazz band Tortoise, to California pop/rock sextet Mr. Bungle.
To give just a preview of the topics that will be discussed, in this paper I will provide a short biography of Michael Jackson, the onset of his career, a brief description of Pop Music, and his impact and legacy on pop culture and other singers as well. Michael Jackson, the name that the majority of people, including those who do not listen to his music, have heard at least once in their lifetime. He began to love the excitement of being under the spotlight, entertaining the audience with all eyes fixed on him. And that is the core element of fame, especially in the pop music industry, which he later changed for good.
Music is one of the few things that has remained constant through the centuries this world has existed. Not only does music provide entertainment, it also has several effects linked to it. Music allows emotions of happiness and sadness to arise. From those emotions, physical effects, negative or positive, can occur. Music has a profound effect on the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical aspects of a person.
It is one thing to act, and it another to tell a story. Acting is described as playing the part of someone you are not, while telling a story is described as the vibrant recollection of events of the past which have shaped the future. Much of my childhood was spent with my father reciting story after story of his experiences as a Zimbabwean man who went from being dirt poor to achieving the American Dream. Every once in a while, he would order books filled cover to cover with the fables and tales from all across Africa to ensure there was never an end to the stories I would hear. Whether it was the tale of how elephant attained his tusks or the numerous times my father walked over ten miles to school, what captivated me the most was the way in which these stories were presented.
Over these past 5 days I have been asked to not only record, but check my consumption of my media intake. At first I thought “ this assignment seems odd, I certainly don 't use or interact with media 8 hours on average like studies say. There 's no way”. But after these five days I can say without a doubt that my initial observations were way off target. Thought the monitoring and recording process I found that on a daily average I am exposed to about 7 hours of media a day. A number I thought I would be nowhere near at the start of the 5 day process. But by digging deeper and deeper into my actual recordings I found many of the answers to not only why my consumption was so high, but also what forms of media were making it such a high number.
Throughout the ages art has played a crucial role in life. Art is universal and because art is everywhere, we experience it on a daily basis. From the houses we live in (architecture) to the movies we see (theatre) to the books that we read (literature). Even in ancient culture art has played a crucial role. In prehistoric times cave dwellers drew on the wall of caves to record history. In biblical times paintings recorded the life and death of Christ. Throughout time art has recorded history. Most art is created for a specific reason or purpose, it has a way of expressing ideas and beliefs, and it can record the experiences of all people.
