Living in India vs the United States Why do most people go back to India from the United States? Living in a different country than the motherland is very difficult. In my case, I was born in India and then I moved to the United States. India and America have more differences than similarities. These two countries are different in their food, clothes, cost and people’s behavior. In my view, India is a better place to live than America. Food and clothes are one way India differs from America. It has different kind of spices like cumin seeds, cloves, coriander powder, turmeric, red chili paper etc. Most foods are vegetarian because there are wide verities of vegetable available in India. Food is organic, healthy and fresh. Correspondingly, clothing styles are different in India. Women wear saree, traditional dress, and lehnga. They wear Indian dresses on a regular basis. Men wear kurta and sherwani for festivals and special occasions. They wear jeans and shirts on a regular basis. In brief, Indian food and clothes are better than American food and clothes. People’s personalities are another difference in these two countries. People are more friendly and helpful in India compare to America. American food has fewer spices than Indian food like ginger, garlic, black paper, etc. Mostly food is processed and frozen which is unhealthy. There is all kind of meat available in America which is good for people who eat meat on the regular basis. Similarly, there is a different kind of clothing style in America than India. Women wear dresses or blouses and skirts for special occasions. Men wear t-shirts, jeans, shorts and they wear suits for special occasions.
