Abstract
Technology has become a hot item for school district to implement into the classroom. The need for this technology comes from an every changing world and because of the way 21st century students learn. Web 2.0 technology must be used and integrated into the classroom. However, many problems occur when trying to integrate technology. Question on whether student achievement is increased, failures of school districts, and new demands placed on teachers have caused a negative spin on technology. In order to be successful, technology must be implemented correctly by the community, administrators, and teachers together.
Introduction
Education is one of the largest researched and new idea driven businesses. Each year hundreds of thousands of school district implement plans that will help increase their student achievement. Pressure from both state and federal government as well as community members have forced school districts to constantly be striving for the best. Many different plans have been implemented by school districts, each one focusing on one aspect or another to increase overall student achievement. There is one plan however, that is one of the most sought out ideas by school districts: the implementation of 21st century technology. There is a growing need for understanding of 21st technology not just in the classroom but in the work place as well. Unfortunately, even with the push to get these ideas and technology into the classroom many school district, department, and teachers fail to implement these ideas correctly.

Almost everyone attends a school at one time in their life, whether the classroom includes technology or not. Research shows that technology isn’t used as often as one might think. The article, “High Access and Low Use of Technology in High School Classrooms” illustrates the use of technology by stating that only one in ten elementary and middle school teachers are daily users of computers (Cuban, Kirkpatrick, Peck). Most schools now have classrooms that use technology throughout the entire class time and even at home to do homework. Although some people might agree with the use of technology in class, it is more harmful to the students than useful.

Integrating technology in the 21st century classroom would be one of the most powerful tools that we can implement in our classrooms, schools, and districts. Technology is growing at such a rapid pace integrating technology only prepares our students for their future. “They are growing up with technology all around them and from an early age have an understanding of how to use computers” (Shields and Behrman, 2000). Our education system needs to be revamped, not only is technology in every aspect of our lives, our education system is lagging behind in integrating technology in the classrooms.
Technology is Changing Education The best method for improving educational standards is to utilize every tool available, including state-of-the-art technology. Computers and the Internet have expanded the way in which education can be delivered to the students of today. Today's networking technologies provide a valuable opportunity to the practice of learning techniques. Educators are discovering that computers and multi-based educational tools are facilitating learning and enhancing social interaction. Computer based telecommunications can offer enormous instructional opportunities, but educators will need to adapt current lesson plan to incorporate this new medium into all the classrooms.
The use of computers in school classrooms has evolved throughout the years, and has become revolutionary in changing the way we teach and learn. Our classrooms should no longer be confined to four walls and a few teachers who are considered to be experts in knowledge. Our classrooms need to keep up with a changing society and a new world that is dependent on technology. As students graduate, they need the technological skills needed to thrive in a world in which technology sets the pace. Society expects the school system to produce functional citizens who have the skills to gain profitable employment, and not be a drain on the system.
Technology has changed many aspects of our lives, so why should we expect less of the classroom atmosphere? Technology in the classroom has changed the way students learn and the way teachers teach. Technology today is integrated into the classroom as a teaching tool rather than being taught as a course. There are many ways that technology is used in today’s classroom such as the World Wide Web, Power Point, and Excel (Starr, 2011). Teachers will continue to be the most important aspect of a child’s education because they teach and technology does not. The use of technology in the classroom can bring advantages to a child’s education but can also bring disadvantages (Cleaver, 2011).
In total the Internet has not only increased the amount of learning possibilities in the classroom but it has created infinite amounts of learning opportunities for students and teachers.

Whether technological integration has positive or negative impacts on teaching and learning has been paid increasing attention and a numerous research has done to explore the issue. Regarding the issue, the question of if training teachers in the use of technology in classrooms contributes to students’ outcomes is still an endless argument. This essay will explain two reasons why such training brings about positive academic achievements for learners and a number of training guidelines that can be followed.
The education world has been greatly influenced by rapidly changing technology and the increasing availability of information. Schools have advanced by leaps and bounds when it comes to incorporating technology into the learning environment, however, many more advances need to be made. In all areas of the country, educators are trying to help students keep up with technology, but there are more changes that are essential for preparing the next generation for the future.
In discussing the future of education, it is important to identify what elements differentiate a future classroom from a traditional one. The main difference between the two is in how content is provided. Instead of displaying content solely on blackboards, future education embraces technology in presentation. Advances in technology allow for many mediums to convey information, and so content can be presented through power points, video presentations, and interactive websites. In addition to presentation, the future of education embraces a new medium for communication. As facilitators of learning, our classrooms are filled with students who are comprised of generation X’ers and Millenial’s. We must be conscious to structure our lessons and approaches so that we can present content in the most effective manner. Technology, in regards to principles of teaching, challenges the teacher to not only learn what the technology is all about, but to learn to integrate it effectively within the context of their individual classrooms. Teachers in classrooms across the nation struggle with computer technology, the many features, and the never-ending cycle of new devices that are bought into their classrooms daily. Because of the lack of training and severe levels of discomfort, teachers have developed a negative disposition towards the use of technology when it applying it to principle. Recognizing the noted factors, it can be resolved that we do live in an interactive world. Our job is to effectively integrate the technology in such a way that it supports, guides, and enhances learning for all parties involved.
students prefer technology because they believe that it makes learning more interesting and fun. They especially like laptops and tablets. Subjects that students deem challenging or boring can become more interesting with virtual lessons, through a video, or when using a tablet. Technology occupies an important place within students’ lives. When they are not in school, just about everything that they do is connected in some way to technology. By integrating technology into the classroom, teachers are changing the way they used to teach (lectures six hours a day) and providing students with the tools that will take them into the 21st century. One of the characteristics of the modern classroom is collaboration and technology helps to empower it. With classroom technology students can collaborate with other students and their teachers in and outside of the classroom quickly and easily.
