Frank is a middle aged white male who is straight, Fiona is a white female who is in her mid twenties she is also straight. Carl is a 12 year old boy and there is no indication if he straight or gay but with the way things seem I would say straight, Veronica is also in her mid twinties she is a straight African American woman. Debbie is a young white girl who is interested in males. Lip is about 19 he is a white male interested in women and Ian is about 18 and he is gay and nobody knows but his older brother Lip. From cashing a dead person's insurance check and living off of it to having contest in the bar. One of his disabilities is he can't raise any of his kids right. Whenever something bad happened or will happen to Frank he starts to have a mental breakdown and he depends on Fiona to fix the problems in his life. The Liars Club is a story told as a memoir by Mary Karr and it is told from her point of view, and how she remembers certain moments of her life growing up in a small East Texas town. Karr talks mainly about her family and the people in her life who have all left a strong impression on her. In her story she describes and conveys the emotion and detail from her interactions with her family. While she focuses mainly on her relationships with her family, she demonstrates how she and her family defied stereotypical gender roles with their own strong which enabled them to cope with a hard life.
In Ken Kesey’s novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, the reader has the experience to understand what it was like to live in an insane asylum during the 1960’s. Kesey shows the reader the world within the asylum of Portland Oregon and all the relationships and social standings that happen within it. The three major characters’ groups, Nurse Ratched, the Black Boys, and McMurphy show how their level of power effects how they are treated in the asylum. Nurse Ratched is the head of the ward and controls everything that goes on in it, as she has the highest authority in the ward and sabotages the patients with her daily rules and rituals. These rituals include her servants, the Black Boys, doing anything she tells them to do with the patients.
X is Frank’s ex-wife, and throughout the book he doesn’t refer to her by her given name even though he considers his love for her and his desire to reenter her life. Frank is still in love with X and feels bad for his bad behavior, which led him to his divorce. X is successful on her own, having made an accomplishment for herself in her selected career and living the kind of life she has always wanted. Such a position made Frank both proud and feeling, as though it is proof of his incapability to be a good husband and provider. X has custody of the couples remaining two children and lives in a house development near Frank’s family house. She continues to stay nice with Frank, but refuses to discuss her romantic life with him; which often makes him angry; “All we really want is to get to the point where the past can explain nothing about us and we can get on with life. Who’s history can reveal very much” (P. 24).
It is expected that within a span of four years drastic changes can occur to any person. An example of such case is our experience throughout four years of high school or college; it is a time in which each obstacle that we surpass will become an experience that builds character. We have all left our childhood behind, but we have yet to taste the full essence of adulthood. Within these years of being cast astray to find our own paths, it is common for us students to experience regular episodes of anxiety, stress, and crippling self-doubt.

Throughout Everything I Never Told You by Celeste Ng the main character Lydia Lee faces change, change that will impact not only her life negatively, but also the lives of her family. Lydia has the most significant role throughout the book, she is the backbone of the Lee family. For Lydia’s parents, they view their daughter as a way they can live their unachieved dreams through, for Marilyn she believed she can live her dream of becoming a doctor through Lydia, while James wanted Lydia to be popular in her school. However, those dreams were lost after Lydia’s death. Lydia’s role as the backbone of the Lee family influences the idea of keeping secrets can destroy a family.
A character that was admirable in the novel “we all fall down” is John. John is the father of Will who is the main character, they spend nearly the entire story together looking for a way out of the world trade center during the 9/11 attacks. During the story you learn that John is very smart, brave, and respected. These are all characteristics which play a crucial role in saving lives such as his co-workers and a random lady they find on the way named ting, but mainly in the ending John and Will successfully escape.
Ability and disability entails the ability to do things others can do or the inability to do something due to physical challenges, mental or emotional challenges that one possesses within their immediate surroundings. Basing on positionality, ability and disability is a key attribute that can make a person to be viewed different within their immediate societies. In the story My Favorite Chaperone, by Jean Davies Okimoto, I believe the theme is how working together makes life's struggles easier. The characters show this theme throughout the story. As children immigrants, the main characters struggle with combining a new culture with their family culture to find a new identity without bringing shame to their family.
