Child pornography is the illegal use of children with in visual material. Children have been used as sexual objects since the beginning of time. It is in this time period children have been laws raised to protect children from abuse in a sexual manner. “Pornography in the modern sense began with the invention of the camera in the early nineteenth century.” (Pg1, Ln11-12) Pornography in the beginning was erotic literature and portraits of their bodies. Even though throughout the twentieth century child pornography was of poor quality, and harder to obtain it was also a restricted activity. From 1977-80’s 250 adolescent pornography magazines and the internet changed the scale of the problem. Local and Federal departments take part in handling the responsibility of child pornography.
“Internet child pornography is only one of a number of problems related to either abuse or the Internet.”(Pg3 Ln1-2) If one lifts the vale and goes beyond Internet child pornography they will find child abuse can be originated in many other variety. Child abuse can range from neglect from the exposure to hazardous materials.
Protecting children from sexual exploration is a modern concept. “As late as the 1880s in the United States, the age of consent for girls was just 10 years.” (Pg4Ln2-3) From 1977-88 only two states had legislation specifically outlawed the use of children in obscene material, the first federal law was passed, and a law that specified to child pornography. ...ct pedophilia. The Internet can be used for more than uploading and viewing sexual child pornophilia. The Internet endorses the sexual abuse of children by allowing networking, groomers seeking victims, cyber-stalking, the promotion or sexual tourism using children, and the trafficking of children. Someone with skills using a computer will have the ability to cover their tracks and but many do not have that ability. The most obvious in evidence is the information saved to the hard drive. A simple hand held device can be used as evidence when incriminating the perpetrator. Servers can provide much information that gives you the ability track the pornography of use. Online activity is seen and monitored by law enforcement.

To sufficiently take a side in the ever-growing debate of pornography, one must first define the concept around which this discourse surrounds itself. A working definition for pornography is a piece of material that has the object purpose of arousing erotic feelings. Radical feminists, however, strictly define it as “the act of sexual subordination of women” (Dworkin 1986).

Ashcroft vs. ACLU, 00-1293, deals with a challenge to the Child Online Protection Act (COPA), which Congress passed in 1998. The law, which is the subject of this essay, attempts to protect minors from exposure to Internet pornography by requiring that commercial adult websites containing "indecent" material that is "harmful to minors" use age-verification mechanisms such as credit cards or adult identification numbers.(Child)

In today’s American society, almost everyone, even children as young as six, owns a cell phone with a camera. Although convenient, camera phones also open the door to massive problems concerning child pornography that stem from sexting, or sending nude or lascivious photos. According to a 2010 Federal Bureau of Investigation survey1 of 4,400 middle and high school students, “approximately eight percent of students reported that they had sent a sext of themselves to others while thirteen percent said they had received a sext.” The main problem with sexting, aside from being child pornography if it is a picture of minor, is the ease of dissemination of the sext to other contacts or even the Internet. The United States alone has seen several students commit suicide after a sext intended for one person’s eyes goes viral or is sent to the entire high school. Such was the case of Ohio high school student, Jesse Logan, who sent nude photos to her boyfriend who then sent them to other students who harassed her until she committed suicide.2

Laura Kipnis has described pornography as “an archive of data about...our history as a culture”. Therefore if, she described it as such, what can it tell us about the sexual history of the 20th century? Examining the history of the forms of archive from pornographic playing cards to blu-ray discs and the internet, this shows the ever changing form of how as a society we view pornography. From the forms of archive come the social implications of pornography. This will be examined through the 1986 Meese Commission in the United States of America into the pornographic industry. Finally, this exposition will also examine the differing views of Gay and Straight pornography and the changes that have taken over the 20th century. Overall, the 20th century was a fundamental shift in sexual attitudes towards pornography.
With over 759 million registered domain names, the Internet has proved to be the definitive source of information (Hunter). Child Pornography, as stated in section 18 of the United States Constitution, defines child pornography as generally “any visual depiction involving the use of a minor in sexually explicit conduct.” Sexually explicit conduct is defined as “actual or simulated” sexual intercourse, which includes genital-genital, oral-genital, anal-genital, or anal-anal, “whether between persons of the same or opposite sex.” Sexually explicit conduct also entails the crucial “lascivious exhibition of genitals or pubic area,” which will be explored in more detail in the case study. Finally, section 18 depicts the transportation of such conduct through the use of computers. Basically, digital cameras, scanners, video capture cards etc. are all used to convert any image or such to the desired and needed format to easily store or transport child pornography.
In the today’s society, social media has gone out of hand. Most people these days have a cell phone, Ipad and/or laptop and most definitely a television at their home. Therefore, access to pornography has become extremely easy and can be available to any individual in less than 5 minutes. The best definition of pornography can be explained as sexually explicit words or images intended to provoke sexual arousal. The easy access to porn has raised many people to question if porn is harmful, if it should be censored, and if it is unsafe. Many debates have been going on about porn concerning freedom of rights, speech, and entertainment and right of privacy. The main people to have argued on this point are Catherine Mackinnon and philosopher J.S. Mill.

It used to be almost impossible for children to get pornography. Comer stores would place adult magazines such as playboy on the top rack behind all the other magazines so that only the title was visible and it was out of reach of children. Movie stores would have separate rooms at the front of the store for their porn videos; this way they could monitor who went into the room. In today's technologically advanced society, pornographic magazines and videos are becoming extinct. Computer users can easily search for sex sites, with millions and millions or results. All it talks is the click of the mouse and children can visit any site they want. There is know way for Internet sites to monitor who is on there site, if you click the button that says your over 18 they let you in, so a 15 year old can easily get on to the site. Pornographic websites also place other moral and social problems not just on underage teenagers but on adults as well.
In recent years, pornography has established itself as perhaps the most controversial topic arising out of the use of the Internet. The easy availability of this type of sexually explicit material has caused a panic among government officials, family groups, religious groups and law enforcement bodies and this panic has been perpetuated in the media.
To some, pornography is nothing more than a few pictures of scantily clad Women in seductive poses. But pornography has become much more than just Photographs of nude women.
