Important Cyber Monday Preparations to do in your Online Store E-commerce firms are gearing up for cyber Monday deals this year. The day falls in December 2 after the thanksgiving. However, most online traders usually start their Cyber Monday deals long before the actual period. Statistics have shown that about 75% of online shoppers usually start their shopping on the preceding day. In year 2012, Cyber Monday sales hit a whopping $1.7 billion up from $ 1.3 billion in year 2011. This was over 20% rise from sales in year 2010. The growth of online business has grown enormously over the years. Cliptomania is a family operated and owned small e-business that primarily sells clip on earrings (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin, & Perkins, 2012, p. 308). Cliptomania early developments were very modest, and as such the company experienced copious strategic dilemmas. An initial strategic dilemma that the company encountered when establishing and building their new e-business undertaking was to create a website for the business operations and essentially to have it fully operable. The owners, Jim and Candy elected to hire a vendor to host the website and additionally utilize the IT systems resources of the vendor to sustain their business. At the very beginning they exploited the offerings of the Yahoo Store. However, continuing down this avenue of using the services of the Yahoo Store inevitably became too costly. By using the services and business offerings of a vendor made it convenient and effortless for Jim and Candy to start their e-business store. Unfortunately the couple did not have much in the way of professional help, and so they had to create and put together the website by themselves. Additionally they also had to deal with establishing their online credibility as many customers preferred to call in their orders just to talk with a real person before being comfortable enough to place their orders via the webpage.
Amazon.com’s US operation business model is based on “sell all, carry few”. Amazon offers consumers a wide selection of products while keeping inventories at low levels. A major interest for Amazon in the US is optimization of netwo...
Growth is core to Amazon.com's business strategy, and that has had a significant impact on the way they use technology: growth through more categories, a larger selection, more services, more buying customers, more sellers, more merchants, and more developers, increasing the different access methods, and expanding delivery mechanisms. The impact has been on many areas: larger data sets, faster update rates, more requests, more services, tighter SLAs (service-level agreements), more failures, more latency challenges, more service interdependencies, more developers, more documentation, more programs, more servers, more networks, more data centers. A large part of Amazon.com's technology evolution has been driven to enable this continuing growth, to be ultra-scalable while maintaining availability and performance.
Amazon.com operates in the Online Retail Industry. The sector is one of the fastest growing globally and is outperforming the ordinary retail marketplace. It was created after 1995 and it was only the Internet that made it possible for such an industry not only to be established but to become one of the most flourishing sectors in the business environment. What is interesting is that Amazon.com, together with eBay is the pioneer in the field. Both companies were launched in 1995 and are still extremely successful. The creation of e-mail in 1996 had a huge impact on the development of online retail by introducing a fast and easy way to communicate with customers. For this two-year period Internet usage doubled annually, thus, allowing for the expansion of the industry. Google is launched a year later, in 1998, only to become the most used search engine in the world and an essential partner for the online retailers by helping them tailor their websites to customer’s personal preferences and by advertising. After that, more and more people see the opportunity in the growing industry and enter it. By 2001 there are more than 513 million Internet users globally, which calls for action in terms of creating regulations and laws to protect the users and personal property. In 2003, Apple launches iTunes, and provides a platform for low-cost digital downloads. Another major change is the appearance of social media from 2004, which is one of the biggest influencer on the state of the industry. With the launch of iPhone in 2007, this trend strengthens as people get to enjoy the Internet anywhere they want to. From then on, technological advancements have made it extremely easy and fun to shop online, making it ...
Amazon is the biggest online store in the world; since its creation in 1995, Amazon has adopted improvements throughout its processes changing considerately. This reports describes the changes adopted by Amazon. In addition, this report generates a diagnosis of each step and makes a deep analysis of the decision makings by amazon based on three specific topic; 1) when Amazon managed inventory internally; 2) when Amazon decided to outsource inventory management and lastly when amazon decided to sell products of competing retailers on its site.
Firstly, Amazon utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) to put their website in the cloud to optimize the speed of using the website. This greatly optimizes speed for both internal use, and also for customer use. Even customers wanting to rent the servers from the AWS can and they do find using this service is faster and much cheaper than setting up their own servers.
Amazon.com was a venture into an emerging market of internet and had to face hidden and unexpected hurdles in order to survive and excel in the market. Therefore, Amazon.com kept modifying its strategies with their focus on enhancing customer experience of online shopping and to delivery exceptional services with complete convenience to their customers. One of the major strategic decisions was to compromise on cost saving stragegy when Amazon.com started to maintain its own warehouses in different countries in order to ensure timely and accurate delivery to their customers
E-commerce is among the top ways people are buying and selling goods these days. And when a person goes to shop online for the best deal, it is almost without a doubt they will peruse the hundreds of thousands of bottom shelf priced items on Amazon.com. Amazon.com is known for their wide assortment of products and brands as well as fast shipping. But what else is really keeping amazon.com alive? I believe a solution may be to create a physical presence in addition to their online presence, perhaps creating another brand that is openly owned and operated by Amazon.com or offering more services along with product sales to keep customers coming back. Just one year ago, I had started my eBay business and growth was like the line at the DMV, painstakingly sluggish, but the same goes for new businesses in general. After a few months of this lackluster growth, my store started gaining momentum; everything continued as planned. Then the unexpected happened: one of my vendors could not ship out products to my customers, due to system errors on their part. 100’s of orders and no way to process them? I was petrified. My heart was beating faster than I thought possible. Here I was, juggling those 3 AP exams that I had to study for, and the numerous angry customers asking why their order hadn’t shipped yet. Needless to say, trying to handle both my schoolwork and my eBay business required many protracted hours. It was no surprise when my nights started getting much longer.
Black Friday is traditionally the day after Thanksgiving where many retailers discount their prices at low prices ,like 50% or 70% or something along that line. They do this because of the holiday, Christmas, where you buy presents for loved ones. It may be the day after Thanksgiving but many stores are opening farther and farther back in the night, pushing into Thanksgiving. I think that this isn’t a good idea, and I’ll show you why.
Holiday shopping, for me, is a nightmare because of the abundance of crowds, all of the fighting and competitiveness. I believe those last minute shoppers are the worst, they are the ones that are rude and impatient. For some people, with lots of patience, dealing with holiday shoppers is a good experience. For people like me, who has very little patience, it is a dreadful experience. Another aspect of shopping during the holidays is dealing with tired, overworked and frustrated employees. They are just trying to get their jobs done as quickly as possible, so they can go home to their families. Meanwhile, you have those employees that are cheerful and are eager to help the distraught shoppers. Also, during the holidays horrible accidents can occur often at this time of year. I am going to portray the dangers and mishaps that can occur during the holidays. I am not anti-holiday, but the older I get the more I don't have any desire to be exposed to all of the potential chaos.
The high take-up of the Internet leads to variety of opportunities in front of companies. People are more online than ever. They spend many hours each day on Social Networks such as Facebook and Google+. It is no wonder that buying and selling can now be done in a more convenient way. Although traditional shopping is still thriving, online shopping can be an alternative for people wanting to save time and money. If a certain customer plan to go shopping, it could be stressful and also be time consuming. E-business has made shopping or any kind of transactions online much easier and convenient. It introduces new facilities, opportunities and way of shopping for both vendors and customers.
The goal of this report is to analyze the Amazon's e-business strategies and activities. This report also discusses the result of strategies adopted by Amazon and how far it has been successful.

This recommendation is the most critical to address because online shopping is worldwide. With Amazon currently dominating the online shopping industry, and quadrupling their sales of $15 billion to $61 billion within just the past five years, it is no question that they have to be doing something right.
