Introduction:
What are water bodies?
Water reservoirs, either natural or manmade are known as water bodies. Different names have given to these different bodies according to their size, properties etc. Moving water such as rivers or streams is also considered in the bodies of water.
Numbers of types of water bodies are present in planet earth. About 71% of earth crust is consisting of some form of this universal solvent.
Although there is enormous amount of water is present in different bodies, quite few amounts is present in the form of fresh water and much smaller quantity is in our reach.

Importance of Water Bodies
Water is one of the most important parts of life cycle. Directly or indirectly, it is used by all living things or non living beings but this is not the only use of this universal solvent. In this portion some importance of water and its bodies are discussed.
Source of Oxygen
Everybody knows plant produces oxygen by the process of photosynthesis but the question is: what is the raw material for that process??? The answer is based in the thing which is discussed throughout the discussion, water.
Plants absorb water and convert its oxygen into oxygen gas. You can call it a miracle or a common scientific phenomenon but it works like a never ending cycle that plants convert water into oxygen and that oxygen is again converted in water by respiration or combustion or any other way. In oceans, algae also play this trick.
Climate Control
Water bodies are responsible of the air currents. They are the “Earth Coolers” as they create currents, create winds, causes rains, reflect heat from the sun etc. Without water bodies our earth would be much warmer and difficult place to live for all habitats.
Energy
This chemical is used to catch the light energy needed in photosynthesis. They take carbon dioxide from the air. Plants use sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into glucose. Plants use glucose as food for energy and as a building block for growing. The way plants turn water and carbon dioxide into sugar is called photosynthesis.
Water is the life blood of every living creature on earth. Approximately 70 percent of the earth's surface is covered with water. Through the wonders of nature, water can take on many different forms. It is easy to understand the significance water plays in our lives, but it may be difficult to understand the water that exists below the earth's surface. This water is called groundwater.

Usable water can be defined, in this instance, as a source that is reliable, consistent, and clean enough to drink or use for irrigation. The Biological Importance of Water as a Solvent and as a Medium for Living Organisms
Water has a great number of roles in living organisms, this is largely to do with the structure and covalent bonding in a single water molecule, and between water molecules. Around 75% of the earth is covered in water, and it is reffered to as the most important Biochemical. Its chemical symbol is: H2O In a water molecule there are two bonding pairs and two non-bonding pairs of electrons. These four pairs of electrons repel one another, forming a tetrahedral pattern.
Photosynthesis is a process in which plants and other organisms convert the light energy from the sun or any other source into chemical energy that can be released to fuel an organism’s activities. During this reaction, carbon dioxide and water are converted into glucose and oxygen. This process takes place in leaf cells which contain chloroplasts and the reaction requires light energy from the sun, which is absorbed by a green substance called chlorophyll. The plants absorb the water through their roots from the earth and carbon dioxide through their leaves.
The four spheres of the Earth system are highly interdependent causing interactions between the spheres to have many cause and effect relationships. A change in one sphere can cause changes in another sphere, which may cause changes in yet another sphere. The biosphere is sustained through interactions with the gasses from the atmosphere, minerals of the lithosphere, and water of the hydrosphere in the energy cycle (Answers.com). The atmosphere is essential for the biosphere because it supplies oxygen, water, CO2 and some nutrients (N) to living organisms, and protects living organisms from temperature extremes and excessive UV radiation (Answers.com). Outside of the biosphere, the atmospheric interacting with the lithosphere and hydrosphere is when the ocean waves are affected by the wind being slowed by friction from the land (Lenkeit). The lithosphere interacts with the hydrosphere and atmosphere through processes such as erosion where rock and soil become removed through physical and chemical weathering.
According to scientists, photosynthesis is “the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. Photosynthesis in plants generally involves the green pigment chlorophyll and generates oxygen as a byproduct.” ("pho•to•syn•the•sis,")
Water is an essential nutrient that our body requires every day. Without water human life cannot be sustained. Water deprivation kills faster than lack of any other nutrient. People do not think of water as a nutrient and don’t realize the important role of water in the body functions.
