“All in one rhythm” is the official slogan of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which seeks the unity of people from all around the world through soccer. I cannot wait until this summer when the universe’s biggest soccer festival begins. Steven Gerrard, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi are the world's best soccer players with outstanding abilities. At the same time, they achieved a great success in life by devoting themselves to soccer. They are so popular that even those who do not follow soccer may have heard of these names. Soccer is more than just another sport to them and me as well, which resembles our life and gives us important principles of life. Basically, dribbling, passing, and shooting are three fundamental skills used in soccer. First, dribbling determines the initial direction and velocity of the ball. A dribbler must race as fast as he or she can when opponents block the path to the goalpost, but needs to control the speed of the ball more carefully if any of them try to steal it nearby. Even if a team has many players with superior strengths and skills, it can be defeated in any game. Actually, the result of the game is determined by the players' endeavor, will, and diligence, not by their objective capabilities. Did the players above achieve great success due to their innate talent? Yes, it might have affected, but I think their constant efforts did more than that. For example, Ronaldo arrives at the stadium and starts his training earlier than any other players in Real Madrid. Messi said that he has trained himself not to detach the ball from the ground while dribbling to overcome his disadvantage of short height. They probably understood the philosophy of soccer and its association with life already.
