Without teachers who feel supported, appreciated and who have access to continuing education to further hone their craft and improve their effectiveness, students will not find themselves in classrooms with teachers who have a vested interest in their success and wellbeing. The scope of strategies and resources available to the school was wide-ranging. In part, the strong support of an active PTA makes these resources available to teachers. It is my strong belief that each child is entitled to a safe, secure, stimulating and caring learning environment. I always believed that each child is a unique individual with much curiosity and many academic, social and emotional needs. Children need our support in order to mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As a teacher, one should aim to help students in fulfilling their dreams to become successful and educated individuals. The PTO of the school realizes that the school is in need of parent support and involvement. There is not enough parent support to develop a wholesome committee. The school is still in need of a Vice President and Secretary to operate the committee successfully. Although administration and teachers are involved in this organization, parents should be also, as the PTO primary goals are to promote child welfare in the home, school, and community. I believe every student is entitled to a safe learning environment where they can reach their full potential academically and behaviorally. Students will reach their full potential in a positive learning environment. The positive learning environment will be established from the beginning of the year providing a lasting impact on the students academic, and behavior performance throughout the entire year. The positive learning environment will be a classroom setting, which allows students to feel welcomed, safe, and important on daily basis allowing learning to occur to its fullest potential. To ensure my students are in a positive learning environment there must be a behavior management plan clearly explaining the expectations I have for my students. Throughout my behavior management plan I will explain how I plan to implement expectations so students act accordingly. My behavior management plan will be individually tailored to my students allowing me to push them to their fullest potential to by taking into consideration each student’s behavior and personal needs.
Effective partnerships between families and school emerge from a mutual trust, respect and understanding of each other’s values and goals. By maintaining such partnerships, we create a healthy environment for children to develop. All families have something unique to offer and educators need to recognize this and make the most of it by incorporating all families into the school community.
The relationship between schools, families, and local community’s has weakened over the past decade due to overwhelming schedules of parents and students alike (Ryan et al, 2013). Attitudes towards learning, behaviour in and out of the classroom and academic performance have shown improvement with development from quality social and emotional learning that is supported through parent involvement and integrated throughout the entire curriculum.
Education is everywhere. This is why teachers need to be the best they can be. Since all children and adolescents are required to attend school, they need teachers that care about them and their education. In order for a teacher to be able to do this, he/she needs to understand the nature of students and knowledge. These two things go together. A teacher also needs to know what the purpose of an education is because without knowing, a teacher does not really have a purpose. In my philosophy, I will discuss why I think my curricular area is important and how I will professionally develop myself to become the best teacher I can be.
It is the responsibility for teachers to create a healthy learning environment that is physically, emotionally and intellectually safe, clean and secure for all children. They are places where children should be valued as individuals and where their needs for attention, approval, and affection are supported. A teacher today needs to have an ability to relate to and create partnerships not with their students, but also families, administrators and other professionals. This ensures that all persons involved with the education of the student are on the same page. All involved then work in harmony and help each other achieve the common goal of educating the student in the best possible way for the best possible result. (Wesley, 1998, p 80)
As educators I believe it is important to create a learning climate within and surrounding your classroom. An environment where students feel their opinions are considered and valued (Chapman & King, 2005). By creating an open, caring environment students are more likely to take risks, and to develop the understanding that it is ok to fail and try again. This ability to learn from mistakes and move on is a vital skill in life, and one which students will find valuable both inside and out of the classroom.
When it comes to parental involvement, most people agree with the “why”; it’s the “how” that poses the challenge. The vast majority of parents want to be involved, but face significant barriers in doing so. The vast majority of schools welcome parent involvement, but with short parent meetings (for which both sides struggle to find time), it’s hard to know exactly what to do.

With the proper guidance and support, teachers can achieve academic excellence in the classroom. They follow their principal’s vision and share their goals. Teachers also serve as leaders in their classroom. They share their vision and goals with their students promoting positive attitudes in the classroom. Just like it is important for principals to respect and understand what their teachers need, students also need the support, understanding, respect and empathy from their teachers. When teachers demonstrate commitment in the classroom and set high expectations they raise the level of learning in the classroom. Teachers that work with the students and their parents to understand and meet their needs will achieve positive academic outcomes.
