Faith is an essential aspect of every human’s life. Individuals apply faith in a daily basis whether they are aware of it or not. The bible describe faith as “ is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen”(Hebrews 11:1, English Standard Version). Faith is the only thing that gives humanity hope to keep working towards the plan of God for each life in this mortal world. “Our life here is a journey together toward that goal, and everything – including business and the wealth it generates by the production of goods and services -- plays a role in helping or hindering us as we make our way along the path” (Stebbins, 1997). These individuals support the vision of the organization with their ethical and moral behaviors. It can be argued that this individuals are the image of the company because they constantly interacting with customers. They have the ability and opportunity to impact someone’s life whether is selling a product or offering a services. Moreover, employees reach a level of trust where they do not have a personnel or staff member monitoring their work. They are responsible for incorporating honesty and integrity in every area they are accountable for. These qualities are dependable one from the other and are an important part of the development of faith in a human being. An individual that practice dishonesty does not possess integrity. Integrity “involves acting in accordance not with any value system, but with a morally justifiable one”(Becker, 1998). The Bible states, “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them”(Proverbs 11:3, English Standard Version). Throughout your life, you’ll face tough decisions where you'll have to decide possibly against your ethical beliefs. Ethics don’t necessarily always have to involve law abiding. It’s rather about trusting your moral path and doing the right thing. Dori Meinert is the author of “Creating an Ethical Workplace” she explains the thought behind the never black or white decision making when it comes to businesses. Can businesses truly trust those individuals hired to steer their companies? It was mentioned that last year 41 percent of U.S. workers said they observed unethical or illegal misconduct on the job, according to the Ethics Resource Center's 2013 National Business Ethics Survey. Meinert’s article was not only eye-opening but very truthful since we’ve all been faced or witnessed unethical decision making. Once employees see individuals breaking the rules and regulations others will then think it's okay, which could result in employees leaving or major hoops for companies to jump through. Effective organizations are able to clearly define their ethical expectations by setting high moral standards, writing codes of conduct, and utilizing mentoring programs. “Masters provide your servants with what is right and fair, because you know that you also have a Master in heaven” (Col. 4:1). When organizations clearly define their ethical expectations to their subordinates, they are much more likely to treat their customers fairly. Customers who are treated fairly are much more likely to be loyal consumers of the products or services that the company provides. This helps to establish a loyal customer base that a business can depend upon, thus providing a predictable source of annual revenue. If an employer treats their employees with respect, honesty, and with candor they’ll give the customer 110% (Rion, 2001).
Their organizational initiatives are often self-serving; however, the emerging workforce isn’t motivated by selfish managers. This selfish behavior often turns into unethical conduct. Unethical dealings in the workplace are always wrong. It is crucial to promote ethical behavior. Everyone must understand that once caught, unethical behavior is not just a problem for those directly involved, it is everyone’s problem.
5. All employees must practice integrity and honesty in all areas of the business. Avoid partaking in any activity that could have a negative effect on the company’s image.
Faith is what drives us to fulfill the things we believe in. If she has faith that the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl, she will live carrying out that perspective. If he has faith that God has a plan for his life, he is going to live fulfilling God’s wishes for him and being the best person he can be. Faith is a powerful tool to influence someone’s life, as we can clearly see in “Crime and Punishment” by Fydor Dostoyevsky. The faith that the characters have in this book completely shape how they live their lives, and they live trying to uphold what they believe in. Their beliefs are what inspire characters to make the tough decisions, and is what shapes them as a whole.
I discovered how sticking to one’s morals should be the topmost priority for everyone involved in business, whether personal or professional. Regardless of what the consequences may be, the intensity of the problem, and the complexities it may bring, sacrificing one’s integrity should never be an option, as integrity goes hand-in-hand with the morals of an individual (Duggan & Woodhouse, 2011). They further go on to say that having individuals take part in building a code of ethics that supports employee integrity, they will act ethically. Also, I believe that companies should place more emphasis on the moral behavior of their employees, and clear-cut policies should be set regarding such ethical situations. Furthermore, I realized how serving justice while making decisions really helps in the long run, and that opting to go for the ideal rather than they deserved is not always the best option, and could hurt a company in more than one
What is Christianity and why has it been able to develop into a continuously growing and evolving religion?
Ethics are the driving force behind good business. Every ethical choice made by a professional can and will have a much different outcome than any unethical choice. Bad ethics can ruin many aspects of a business and as (Gaye-Anderson, 2007) states how quite easily the lives and professional reputation of the employees can even be severally damaged (para. 3). Everything from morale to motivation can be severely affected by poor ethical choices. Customers will take their business elsewhere. Employees will abandon ship. Other, competing businesses reap the benefits of the bad moral choices. Ultimately, the entire business can be brought down by one poor ethical choice.
Ethical behaviour is what all career people should aim to have. Not just the ethical attribute but exceptional behaviour with this regard.this is because in order to build a career, one must be governed by the rules of ethics to safeguard oneself and others. Ethics are essential in the workplace because a tough ethical code provides a non-threatening environment with high employee morale. The corporate social responsibility is important to everyone,therefore it should not be neglected by the employees and the organization. Ethics purely center on personal conduct. It involves personal choices that can make or break a person in the workplace or business. The major importance of having good conduct is to maintain a high level of respect not just for people but for the proffession. Most people who begin their working career have aspirations of excelling at their jobs and reaching the pinnacle of their profession while maintaining a sense of values; however employees often become blind with ambition and put aside their sense of ethics in order to obtain financial security and recognition for their efforts. Justification by faith is of great importance, it is the foundation of our whole position and standing with God. Martin Luther wrote, “ When the article of justification has fallen, everything has fallen.” John Calvin called it “ the main hinge on which religion turns.” Thomas Watson said, “Justification is the very hinge and pillar of Christianity.” The issue of Justification was the primary dispute between the reformers and the Roman Catholic Church, and the problem was, and still is, between salvation by faith alone and salvation based on good works. So, why is justification so important to us? Because Justification by faith is the answer to the problem, that has followed human beings ever since the fall of Adam. How can a man be right with God his maker? How can a man stand in the presence of God? This is what Paul wrote in the letter of Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” The act of Justification enables us to be right with our God.
Ethics is the responsibility of each individual person, but starts with the CEO and the Board of Directors, setting the right tone at the top and moves down through the organization, including setting the tone in the middle. A company’s culture and ethic standards start at the top, not from the bottom. Employees will almost always behave in the manner that they think management expects them, and it is foolish for management to pretend otherwise (Scudder).
