Many people believe different ideas of why business degrees are not so great. I asked around and a few people answered. “You have to deal with your own financial problems, have to deal with employees, ability to manage time wisely, have to create a business that is not going to fail or help run a company that is not going to fail” (Kylie Kassa. 10/29/15. Interview) Other reasons why business degrees are not that great is that tons of people go after business degrees, and you do not even need a business degree to work in business. “One in every five new college grads is a business major” and “An employer survey conducted by the National Association of Colleges and Employers indicates that workplaces most value three skills: Communication, Analytic, and Teamwork skills. (CBSNEWS.com. 8 Reasons Not to Get a Business Degree. 2011.
The article made me revaluate my decisions. I also asked myself if I were sure of what I wanted to major in. As Brooks mentioned nowadays it’s hard for young adults to find a decent job after graduating. Not only that, but if you are in a competitive major like business, accounting, and even criminal justice, the chances of you getting a job can be very limited. I have personally seen a couple of my friends with Bachelor degrees working a fast food restaurant or doing something else, that has nothing to do with their major earning minimum wage. Many people have degrees nowadays and the hunt for jobs seems to become more competitive everyday. I still have a couple of years before I achieve my goal of getting my degree. The way the work force is getting so competitive, by the time I finally receive my bachelors degree, the chances of me finding a job are going to narrow
In Stanford J. Ungar’s article “The New Liberal Arts,” he claims that the misperceptions about a liberal arts degree has affected current views when it comes to seeking this particular degree. One misperception that Ungar states is that it might be too hard to find a job with a degree in this path. “It is no surprise, then, that a growing number of corporations, including some in highly technical fields, are headed by people with liberal-arts degrees.” (228). Succeeding in a specific field (liberal arts degree) can have its pro’s and con’s. Many students cannot find a job, while most have the possibilities of running a company. It is much better for college students to explore and receive a wide range of knowledge because of the many job options

But just because they get a degree that they don’t directly use doesn’t mean they aren’t happy about where they are now. Casey also discovered that according to the CareerBuilder study, about two-thirds (64 percent) of respondents working outside their field said they’re happy with what they chose to study. But most employers now a days don’t really care what your degree is in, they will hire you as long as you have a college education, that’s all they care about now (Phillips). But in the end it doesn’t matter if you work in your degree field or not, as long as you in enjoy what you do then you know you are where you were meant to

A Bachelor’s Degree requires several years of undergraduate school to obtain based upon the institute or field of study. In my opinion, not all jobs should require a Bachelor’s Degree because some jobs are common knowledge that are stepping-stones to higher-level jobs. People who acquire these jobs are generally high school students, people who cannot find jobs with their degrees, or people who never went to college who need a job to support themselves. These part-time jobs should prepare people for the real world; understand the worth of money, the responsibility it comes with and set priorities. It is imperative for people to understand the basis of this before entering an institute to get educated for their higher-paying profession.

When I was six, I began my own business in my community, and sold products (toys) on the block that I no longer wanted in order to make a profit. This past summer, I created my own jewelry company and it was a success from the start. I used social media to advertise, sales skills to move forward and generate more revenue, and my artistic ability to create products.
