Impact Of Volume 2 On Dante's Inferno

How did Volume 2: Purgatory change you in some major way? After reading Volume 1: Inferno, I moved on to Volume 2: Purgatory. The difference between what I noticed this time around versus what I found in the first volume was a lot more significant than I would have anticipated. Dante’s method of telling a story is beautiful and descriptive. It’s so good at times that the only way I can imagine writing something like that is to have experienced it first hand.
Inferno was incredibly intense from Canto to Canto. I was expecting something similar when I began reading Purgatory but found that it felt a lot more mysterious rather than frightening. Because I was able to relax more, I was able to really enjoy the work that Dante put into this series.

After completing two of the three books, I would say that yes, the book is a real challenge to get through, but it isn’t nearly as difficult as people make it out to be. Many adults are hesitant to read these books for some reason. I think the reputation has grown over the years and has created a feeling like it’s too advanced for people to read and enjoy. To this, I would challenge more people to give it a shot. I don’t consider myself a very talented reader as I read pretty slow, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from reading these books. There is a lot of interesting writing in these books and it tells a marvelous story which kept me interested. What keeps me hesitant to recommend it to more people is the complexity presented in some of the events. I feel like most Middle schooler’s wouldn’t be able to relate or get as much out of it as a High schooler might.
