Immigration is a very controversial topic in today’s society. One of the most overlooked areas is the American workforce. The reason Immigration is very damaging to the Americans workforce is because the employers are replacing Natives with immigrants who will work for a lower income. In today’s workforce, there are Employers intentionally replacing natives with immigrants who will work for a cheaper wage.
There are times, when an Employer will replace a native with an immigrant to have an easier exploited and cheaper work place. In some cases, the displacement of Natives with immigration comes from an intermediary. The intermediary will pass on the jobs to subcontractors who hire immigrants for the low wages. For example, in California raisin grape industry of, Mestizos (the Spanish-speaking population of Mexico) were interchanged with lower cost Mixtecs (the indigenous people of Mexico).
