Illustration Essay

High school graduates who are unsure about their future career should join the army to help them find their identity. Most young adults and teenagers have a tough time finding out who they are or what exactly it is they want to do in life. The army could help them find themselves and create their own identity.

The most important skill that young adults can learn to build themselves is good social skills. This is one skill the Army is really big on . The Army throws people from all different walks of life together and make them depend on one another for survival. They enforce a “battle buddy” system where you are never allowed to go anywhere with out someone of the same sex, not even the restroom. Battle buddies have to be there for each other physically and mentally. Battle buddies must be able to listen and motivational when their battle buddies are going through personal issues to insure the task assigned is completed. The army is one big team. Not everyone likes their teammates; but in order for tasks to get completed they must work together …show more content…

In the military everything is on a set schedule. Having this repetitiveness helps instill order. If a person has order, they are very precise about everything. Also, tasks are given daily and must be completed by certain times . If these tasks are not completed there are very severe consequences . These consequence can even include pay cuts depending on how serious of a task was given at hand . This helps a person gain a sense of urgency, moving with a purpose, and getting the task done as soon as possible. Time promptness is also instilled in the military. Formations and meeting are mandatory and persons must be accounted for ten minutes prior to the start time. Time management exposes what kind of person they really are versus who they think they may be . Thus, helping them find their own identity
