For the consumer (in a facility or in the community) and their caregivers, technology allows for communication, medical education, coordination with health providers, and medical monitoring (Pratt, 2016, p. 447-450). The facility can use information gained from electronic records to eliminate unneeded programs and expenses, having all the information in one place allows the facility to say we only use fifteen bedpans a month, but buy fifty-five every month. The facility can then cut waist. The patient can stay in their home longer now with the aid of technology. Consider the commercials of the lady who has “fallen and can’t get up”, technology such as this fall monitoring system allows the patient to get help, despite being alone and unable to
Telehealth is considered as a tool that could exert a positive impact on several dimensions of health care services delivery in rural, remote and isolated regions. It provides delivery services in a timely fashion for remote populations, facilitates access to education for clinicians, and save travel costs for patients and professionals. For instances, in Canada, many telehealth projects take place in rural, remote or isolated populations and various telehealth applications have been implemented and have shown promising outcomes. However, telehealth utilization remains limited in many settings, despite increased availability of technology and telecommunication infrastructure. A qualitative field study conducted in four remote regions of Quebec, exploring perceptions of physicians and managers regarding the impact of telehealth on clinical practice and

Introduction Assistive technology serves to help people with disabilities obtain, maintain, and advance in employment. Assistive technology is a generic term for devices that increase a person’s function, independence, participation and productivity in society or to perform activities that would otherwise be labeled as difficult, dangerous or impossible. Providing effective technology services is essential to increase positive employment outcomes. Due to a lack of information about assistive technology there is currently a lack of confidence by counselors to identify and recommend assistive work technology services, equipment and training needs. Given the VR counselor’s role to provide the essential link between the client and the AWT technologist, the counselor must be well versed in not only the functional impediments related to the disability but, also be exposed to intensive training with the technology portion.
Assistive technology (AT) is any device, piece of equipment or system that helps a person with a disability work around his challenges so he can learn, communicate or simply function better. Though the word “technology,” is used many AT tools are low-tech. AT tools range from simple adaptive tools like highlighters and organizers to high-tech tools like text-to-speech software for those with sight challenging concerns.(Ref: Assistive Technology: What It Is and How It Works By The Understood Team) There are many kinds of AT tools that help kids with learning and attention issues. These tools can help them work around their challenges enhancing their strengths.
