Going to a community college is better than going to a vocational school straight out of high school. Vocational schools always have a lot to offer because they deal directly with one field of technology, but community colleges are more diverse and can get you a better set of skills to work out in the world. With the schools I’m considering it comes down to MIT and IVCC, being as my plans are to become an electrical engineer or a design drafter. When deciding between these schools I should consider what sort of housing they have, what athletics they offer, whether or not they have parking, what kinds of classes do they have, and all the degrees that they offer in my field of interest.
Electrical engineering is a specific area of engineering that has to do with analyzing and applying what you know to electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). This field of engineering has a large variety of subfields, including: electronics, digital computers, power engineering, telecommunications, control systems, and many more (Wikipedia, “Electrical”). One reason why I want to go into electrical engineering is that there are so many choices for a career path to branch to and everything comes to me so easily. I find that I enjoy the work that I do and it’s something that I am exceptionally good at. I can really see myself doing this as a lifelong career and not having to worry about getting stuck in a dead end job. The only thing I have to do to get started is decide what school I want to go to and which one will help me get to where I want to be, the best.
Courses I will have to take for Electrical Engineering if I attend MIT will be: ET-121 Computer Systems & Applications, ET-127 Materials and Methods, ET-129 Gen...

In comparison to a 4-year university a 2-year community college is much more affordable option. Even if a student ultimately transfers to a university, those first two years at a community college can still save a student ten-of-thousands, and some cases hundreds-of-thousands, of dollars, “In 2011-2012, after accounting for grant aid from all sources, net tuition and fees… at public two-year public colleges was effectively zero for students from the two lowest income quartiles.”(Jenkins). Along with saving students money overall, community colleges allow students to work while going to school, so it gives students the pros of both not going to college, and going to college. The one downside of community college is the lack of degree options, but there is still a large selection of degrees that can be acquired at community college, just not as many as a 4-year university. When comparing all three of these options, the community college option seems like the only option where the pros heavily outweigh the cons while with the other options, the cons can easily overpower the
After twelve years of school, where will you go next? Many of you have developed the ambition to prolong your education and attend college. Today, there are many more options than there were in the past. One does not have to graduate high school and go straight to a four year university. It is sometimes better for a student to go to a community college and focus on transfer courses or simply get an Associate’s Degree. On the other hand, there are young adults that prefer to leap straight into a university and focus on the specific program for their Bachelor’s Degree.
For far too long, people have regarded vocational schooling as a second class option to a traditional college. Some believe that only under achievers will attend this type of school...
Any number of vocational education programs have been targeted to solve the education and employment problems of the nations high-risk populations--the dropout prone, persons with disabilities, educationally and economically disadvantaged persons, and so forth. Some have realized successful outcomes; others have not. This publication examines vocational educations role in the success of high-risk populations.
To paraphrase Alexander Pope, “True ease in welding comes from art, not chance, as those move easiest who have learned to work the puddle.” The puddle is what forms when I first start a weld; however, working the puddle means controlling the weld puddle to form a consistent weld. I think college will not truly teach me how to work the puddle and will not give me the experience I want. I think technical school will truly teach me how to work the puddle and give me the best experience for the welding industry. I think college’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience is worse versus technical school’s cost, length, job outlook, and social experience. Technical school will ease me into the welding industry with the learning of a true
Deciding on whether to attend a junior college or a university can be a very tough decision. Oftentimes we hear negative opinions and comments about attending a junior college instead of a university. Junior colleges are much more affordable, they have smaller classes, and they are much more convenient than universities. Through my experiences and research, I feel there are many benefits to attending a junior college.
Being the top student in my secondary school (with 85.5%), I got admitted into Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering at MIT, Ujjain. My curriculum enhanced my knowledge in Microprocessors, Digital Signal Processing, and Analytical and Industrial Instrumentation. Having a strong zeal towards Information System and Computer Programming, I have also learned different languages like C, C++, SQL and PL/SQL.
Vocational skill programe is necessary in order to increase the ability of students and decrease the problem of unemployment. However, there should be various option to choose according to the interest of the students, the course would be able to enhance their skills.May be a vocational subject can be taught as an elective in high schools. After passing the high school, either they enrolled in collage or searched for the employment. In both the cases, vocational
After get understanding with the basic definition of electrical engineering, it is time to find out that is this major right for me. ' If you enjoy taking things apart, seeing how they work, and then putting them back together again, this major should suit you very well'. Additionally, an engineering degree should be a serious consider...
The word engineer comes from the latin word ingeniare. ingeniare means construct or craftsmanship. Ever since the beginning of time we have had engineers. Engineering is the combination of math and science , solving world problems to help better the world around us. Being an engineer takes a lot of knowledge, creativity, and hard work. A typical engineer can clearly see a problem and is capable of fining a solution. A senior engineer or engineering manager usually doesnt do as much technical work, but usally lot of managing. Some of the first official engineers were military engineers. They were employed by the goverment to build such things as roads, bridges, and weapons. US mililary Academy at Westpoint was the first school to offer an education in enginnering. Engineering is a very broad field. Engineers are always at a high demand, we could never have enough brilliant minds making the world better. Engineers are needed everywhere. Engineering managers have to have a bachelor's degree or higher, they usually direct and seek solutions to problems and are sometimes called executi...
Engineering has been a key interest of mine since childhood. While still in grade school I enjoyed listening to my father, an electrical engineer, teach me about advances in technology, and was always eager to hear more. I was introduced to my first computer at the age of five, and have loved interacting with them ever since. My decision to study engineering as a career was no surprise to those who knew me.
Electrical Engineers research, develop, design, and test electronic components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, medical, military, and scientific applications (Cosgrove 749). They are concerned with devices that use small amounts of electricity that make up electronic components such as integrated circuits and microprocessors. By applying principles and techniques of electronic engineering they design, develop, and manufacture products such as computers, telephones, radios, and stereo systems (EGOE, 121). Electrical engineers touch everyone lives through the things they have designed or created. Electrical engineers have invented the lights in your house, the television, the stereo, the telephone, computers, and even your doctor’s blood pressure gauge (Stine 300).
My decision to become an electrical engineer was not a decision I took too long ago. It is something that I decided to pursue when I entered a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) high school. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed working with computers and building circuits, and the fact that this career involved many subjects. Doing a lot of research to understand better what it meant to be an Electrical Engineer, I found out that in order to succeed in this career one had to know a little bit of everything. In other words, subjects such as science and math are essential to know if someone wants to be successful electrical engineer. An electrical engineer is someone who finds practical solutions to everyday problems that involve electricity, such as computers, cell phones, among other electrical equipments. In order to create a useful device one must know where to start and this is where science comes in. An electrical engineer must be able to use the scientific method, which means; one must form a procedure, test it out, and write a conclusion. These parts of the scientific method must be written clearly, so that others can recreate and test out a device or project. Math also plays a key role in this area of study, because one must be precise when creating a new device that others are going to use. For example, if one were to create a new type of cell phone one must know a lot of math in order to be able to progr...
I could study to become an electrical engineer and have a successful job with benefits perhaps. Electronics has always been something I found interesting. I actually started my college career studying computer science because I wanted to program for robots. Since then I lost my passion for the programming aspect of technology. I would rather work on the physical aspects of engineering. I am a person of many passions, however, from a young age, I consistently kept my dedication to
Everyone wants to be something from a doctor to a stylist, I want to be a mechanical engineer. This is something I have always wanted to do in my life, the opportunities that exist in this field can lead to anything. Mechanical engineers are able to do many tasks in the job environment from designing, to developing, and also building. In addition, as new companies are starting up they will need mechanical engineers to help them develop their product. All of the engineering fields have great pay, that is able to support my family and also my parents. In the work environment of a mechanical engineer, they usually are around an office and sometimes where their product is being used at. To be able to apply for a mechanical engineering job you
