I am in love. Not with a person. Not with a thing. But with a place. The only place I have ever lived and the only place I have ever loved. This place is my home. My heart. My inspiration. My Washington, D.C.
Washington is known all around the world for three main things: the President, the monuments, and the museums. Yes, these things are a big part of Washington but the city is also so much more than that.
Growing up in the nation’s capital allowed me a very unique childhood, filled with exploring and experiencing all the District of Columbia has to offer. It all began when I was about 4 years old, on a dull saturday morning, when my dad said to me, “Let’s go on an adventure!” These 5 words became my favorite words to hear on the weekend. Going on an adventure meant experiencing something new whether it be new foods from different parts of the world or it be experiencing a new part of the city. I loved every second of it. With every adventure, every new discovery, every experience, I began to feel more and more pride

on my own. After a brutal winter, I experienced the beautiful cherry blossoms on the Tidal Basin blooming in the spring. I discovered that the Korean tacos from Union Market are arguably the best tacos in the city. I experienced playing a soccer game against the Malia Obama and after the game getting to meet the president. I discovered the importance of always cheering for your home teams (even if they always lose.) I experienced the magic of the monuments glowing at night without all the hustle and bustle of the tourists. I experienced a scavenger hunt for my art history class, involving running from museums and monuments all over Washington. I experienced the privilege of living next to Fort Reno, a national park, that boasts giant hills for sledding during the winter and a stage used during the summer for free concerts. All of these experiences helped me see how special D.C. truly

Most people who grow up in Cincinnati cant wait to get out, but once they leave they can’t wait to come back because there is no other place like it. It has the small town “homey” feeling everybody grows to love, along with big city options that are easily accessible. Nobody ever wants to come to Cincinnati, but once they do, they realize how special it is, regardless of the territory. Its unique structure comes as surprise, yet, joyous experience and that’s what makes it special. East or West, North or South Who-Dey baby!
Each person has a place that calls to them, a house, plot of land, town, a place that one can call home. It fundamentally changes a person, becoming a part of who they are. The old summer cabins, the bedroom that was always comfortable, the library that always had a good book ready. The places that inspire a sense of nostalgic happiness, a place where nothing can go wrong.
My first experience at the museum was a good one. I had so much fun even after we were done with the Norton-Simon. Being a business major, I did not know that art could speak to me as it did. It has not influenced me so much as to change my major, but it did open my eyes to a whole new world. Now when I look at art, I do not just see a pretty picture, but what the artist is actually trying to say.
Washington D.C: Our Nation’s Capital Although the entire world is familiar with the City of Washington as the United State’s capital, the city was nonexistent when we became a nation in 1789. Thanks to the brilliant design of the French born engineer, Pierre Charles L’Enfant and his assistants Benjamin Banneker and Andrew Ellicot, our capital city that was once a swamp now is beautiful with many different parks, gardens trees, tall buildings and wide avenues. Washington, District of Columbia named after Christopher Columbus, has played a unique role in the wars of our nation and has been dramatically affected by their awesome events.
Overall, I really enjoyed driving to LA and visiting the Griffith Observatory. It was so wonderful being about to see a show and feel like I was really traveling through time. I got to learn more about what 's beyond our universe. Seeing everything and listening to what the instructor was talking about our universe, made me think back about your astronomy class. Being able to understand and know what the instructor was talking about, it felt good knowing I 'm learning that in your class.
... world cities due to their power and influence in regards to matters both political and cultural. In modern times, New York City provides another example of such a world city. In addition to being the most populous city of the world-power that is the United States, New York City shows itself to have an important impact on fashion, entertainment, culture, and finance across the world. Wall Street has been a financial center for decades, and the city itself has given birth to many cultural movements, such as the Harlem Renaissance. The Empire State Building could be likened to the Parthenon or the Coliseum, being a representation of the city’s architecture and one of the tallest buildings in the world. Overall, all three cities have proved themselves to have enormous worldwide influence, which ultimately designates them as three important world cities in history.
One of my personal favorite days of this semester was the class trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It was a long journey to get there, especially with having to walk all the way from Penn Station, but it was a nice day so I couldn’t really complain. Plus, it was worth it because I love museums. The Met is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. I could not believe how big it was and how many galleries there actually were. I can’t wait to go back and see all of them! Our trip mostly focused upon Greek and Roman art, and I found it to be thoroughly interesting. There was so much to look at that I didn’t know where to start. I was in amazement at all of the pieces and the fascinating stories behind them. The two pieces that sparked my interest the most were the marble sarcophagus depicting the myth of Selene and Endymion and the Etruscan bronze chariot.
The Empire State building is important for any reasons ranging from an architectural marvel to a revenue generator for the City of New York. Most important of all, it is a historic landmark. It is a symbol that every American knows and is proud of. Its functions are many: landmark, office building, tourist attraction, shopping mall, telecommunication/ broadcasting center, symbol of New York (and the U.S. to many foreigners). There are round up to 15,000 rooms for office space. There are many doctors, lawyer, insurance agencies as well as a lot of business involved in the fashion industry. It attracts more than 2 million visitors a years. I think it is the city’s and the world’s greatest skyscraper.
Each of us had learned something from that trip. For me, this experience has taught me what gratitude is, the impact a good attitude has, what a servant looks like, and really how the relationships we make with our life are the most important aspect of life. It was the summer after my freshman year of high school. Earlier in the year, my parents had decided that they wanted to go on a mission trip as a family and serve somewhere.
New York City is probably the most well-known city in the whole entire world. It is known as the Big Apple, where “dreams are made of” (Alicia Keys) and that “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” (Sinatra) New York is commonly referred to as the financial and cultural capital of the world. So it is not surprising to learn that New York City is the center of many of the most important political landmarks in American history. Perhaps the most famous and most endearing is the green statue seen from the shores of Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty.
The graduation-focused visits just started last year; therefore, instead of describing those trips first, I will explain the strange events of my first visit to D.C. This happened when I was about 6, and the information is a bit blurry, but the stories I have from that trip are endless! Our family had just attended my uncle’s retirement party.
A place, for me, is somewhere that I am familiar with and I recognize it in some way as my own special geographic location. It is somewhere I am emotionally attached to and it is a place that I wish to remain at. I personally feel that it has taken me years to achieve this particular comprehension about where for certain that place is for me in my life, and to make out why I feel a certain way about being within the walls of my own home. I have now come to realize that my home is where my heart will always truly be, because I believe it is the only place where I will always be loved without
This place is meaningful to me because it is part of the county I loved, is part of the county where I grew up and is part of my childhood. This place is in the country in an old region named Appalachia, a small piece of the Appalachian Mountains, in a town named Pikeville.
I was able to spend a lot of time with my family, our friends, and play all sorts of games. This experience made me start to like traveling. Every time I would get the chance to travel, I will take that chance. We were able to go to a theme park, eat many delicious foods, and play many video
