I Had a Nice Time with You Tonight. On the App.
“Anyone who spends much time online and on a smartphone knows that it's no substitute for the real thing-it's just an appetizer that can delight and satisfy until the main course arrives.” (396 Wortham). Renowned author of the New York Times, Jenna Wortham describes the appeal of these new social media technologies and acknowledges that these apps will never fully replace the real thing. Although some argue against these new technologies, such as author Sherry Turkle, who believes these new technology are negatively affecting our real-world interactions and communication. New communication technologies of the 21st century are positively affecting our society by connecting people to anyone, anywhere in the world within a matter of seconds.
