I am George Washington. I was born on February 22, 1732. I was raised in Virginia. At the age of 11 I lost my father he died so I went to my brother Lawrence at Mount Vernon that’s when I learned standards of contemporary etiquette, Latin and mathematic. I also practiced horseback riding. Engaged in the foxhunt and learned ballroom dancing. Not for long and my brother died in 1752 so I inherited Mount Vernon. I entered the state militia and I was sent by governor Robert Dinwiddie to warn the French to retire. After what happened I was unanimously elected by the Electoral College to be the president. I got 132 electoral votes, winning each of the fifteen states. I was a surveyor in colonial Virginia and I fought in the French and Indian war …show more content…

I faced a dilemma when revolutionary France declared was on England in 1793. I sought the advice of my cabinet. Hamilton and Jefferson disagreed on whether the treaty was still valid. Hamilton argued the French Revolution caused the treaty to be invalid. Meanwhile I took a stand on the position toward France and the treaty by issuing a proclamation of American neutrality that clearly indicated that the United States would not help the French and am friendly toward both sides of war. So, I met with genet demanding he stop his illegal activities but he didn’t stop so I requested the recall of Genet. At the same time the French asked Gouverneur Morris be recalled, he complied but genet refused. Returning would mean death. Many of the problems that I encountered caused me to not run for re-election another time.
