Hurricane Katrina was one of the most interesting and deadly hurricane to ever hit the United States. This hurricane devastated New Orleans and all of its inhabitants. This hurricane was especially devastating as New Orleans is 13 feet(3.9624 metres) below sea level. The government wasn’t prepared for the damage of New Orleans, and neither were the Levees. The Levee crash was one of the major causes of the flooding in New Orleans. The deaths and damages cost billions. After this storm many people didn’t want to move back to their home, New
Orleans.

During Hurricane Katrina all thing went to a living hell. Katrina ruined the city that we all know. Interestingly New Orleans was built below sea level. Though they thought that the precocious city would be protected by a wall which is like a dam. They created the Levee System, but later in time once Hurricane Katrina struck on August 29, 2005 the Levee System got destroyed by the flooding rivers surrounding New Orleans . It caused tremendous loss of people, drinking water, houses, buildings special building and lives. Most of New Orleans was trapped underwater for weeks.
The Impact was not only on the city and the jobs of the citizens, but it also impacted many families and their way of living. The Death total reached 1,836 deaths. This included mothers, fathers, children, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors, and so many more people who supported and provided memories to the citizens of New Orleans. The hurricane didn’t only hit New Orleans, but Katrina also hit Florida. Altogether, Katrina hit 90,000 square miles. The reason that the levees collapsed was because they were built for a category 3 hurricane, while Katrina was a category 5 hurricane. There were over fifty floodwall...

...nity closer to those in New Orleans. Katrina caused a tremendous amount of damage and loss of life or a home. New Orleans took the hit roughly, and so did America. Overall Hurricane Katrina was the third worst Hurricane in US history, but the worst hurricane to ever hit a coastal city. It brought the entire world together, with the contributions of countries to help New Orleans go back to its former glory of the Birthplace of Jazz.
