The World as we know it is in a dire situation. It has became wicked and war and starvation have broken out and destroyed homes, food sources, and even people. Even closer to home on a National level there are thousands of people starving. ACTIONS AGAINST HUNGER
Action Against Hunger (AAH) is an international organization to end world hunger. They have over 4600 professional workers staffed in over 40 countries worldwide. There main focus was to save malnourished children throughout the world in this part of the organization they effect over 5 million people and then countless more throughout there other branches of relief. Last year alone they helped over 7 million people in ending hunger and the numerous other branches including clean water, new buildings for schools, and relief after natural disasters (Action).
AAH Has numerous ways to get involved. One way that interested me is anyone can donate old vehicles for them to us or to scrape away and they get a payback of as much as $900. Plus old car gets used to help others when it is of use anymore. There are many other ways to get involved including donating stock giving monthly or even donating just once. Anyone can do this via computer, phone, and even mail (Action).
AAH has a rating of 4 out of 4 by Charity Navigator. They get 86% of there money from donations and fundraisers And charity ranks the 4 out of 4 in how they spend there money. 86% of their money goes towards their effort while 12% goes to the people that work in the program and 2% of their proceeds goes to ...

CONCLUSION
Thanks to these organizations the world is slowly coming back from its evil ways. These two organizations have helped in numerous ways including providing shelter, food, and even protection to those in need. Without organizations like these this world will slowly crumble back into its evil ways and innocent people will suffer.

Kawartha Food Share distributes meals, and emergency care needs to over 7,000 people every month. The food share has continuingly been supportive to the needy for 15 years. While this is the case, the City and Country of Peterborough and its 37 member agencies served 6.5 million dollars worth of food over the years! Kawartha Food Share is 15000 sq. foot warehouse and is rented, so even being a non-profit organization, has to pay rent. This ranges from four city food banks, six housing projects, four meal programs, etc.
There are many issues this world faces such as pollution, car fatalities, not taking care off the world etc.. People try and show their concerns for these issues by starting organisations or having protests and just trying to get people to realise that what they are doing is wrong and that we cant continue to live like this.
They provide food to over 46 million people in need through their network of 200 food banks. They also work diligently on raising awareness by partnering with high-profile celebrities to create effective public service announcements. Though they are doing an amazing job tackling the hunger issue and spreading knowledge regarding hunger in America, there are two areas that may require adjustments.
As the world population grows so does the amount of people that live without the proper amount of nutrition and food. Hunger in America can be hard to recognize and many people do not realize that hunger and malnutrition is a problem that many Americans face every day. America is the land of plenty and one of the most powerful and wealthy countries in the world, however is well known that is subject to problem such as starvation, considered as “third-world problem”. For decades, Americans have gone above and beyond to aid other countries that were faced with problems such as malnutrition and hunger. Sadly, the US has failed to aid them and millions are currently suffering from hunger. In addition, with how the economy is now, the effects of hunger are getting worse every day. Many Americans are relying and most of them depend on food stamps and private organizations to help with this crisis. The documentary, “A Place at the Table” by Kristi Jacobson and Lori Silverbush present some issues and real life story to explain what is really happening and how hunger and obesity are not problems on opposite ends of a spectrum, but are in fact intricately linked. Poor nutrition, health problem and poverty are all related.
I also recently volunteered at the Cleveland Food Bank by packing lunches for under privileged children and sorting non-perishable foods for those in need. Prior to participating in volunteer services for the day, we were required to watch a video that explains the purpose of the Cleveland Food Bank and why there is a need for continuous support. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank works to ensure that everyone in our communities has the nutritious food they need every day. The mission of the Cleveland Food Bank is to alleviate hunger by providing food and support to community organizations that feed the hungry. Many people depend on the support because of their financial situation, life changes, and possible mental or physical limitations. The Food Bank acts as a storage unit and distribution facility for smaller agencies and organizations such as schools, homeless shelters, churches, and day
There are national aid programs like SNAP, the UN World Food Programme, and Feeding America, trying to reduce hunger by providing access to food, resources, and the means to keep up those efforts. There are also councils like the UN Social and Economic Council, trying to implement policies in order to reduce and prevent food insecurity. Teaching people that having sustainable development is better than just relying on aid is also very important.
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that nearly 870 million people of the 7.1 billion people in the world, were suffering from chronic undernourishment in the years 2010-2012. Ellen Gustafson has spoken in ted talks on the issue of Obesity plus Hunger equals one global food issue. One the main issues Gustafson speaks of is world hunger and how to end it. She also speaks briefly on obesity and how in comes into play with world hunger. Even though some people would argue that there just is not enough food in the world, world hunger and obesity can easily be prevented and eliminated with proper knowledge and programs.
...faith. Even though my friend lost his battle with esophageal cancer, he raised over $50,000 for the ACS with the help of our community, family, and friends. He wanted to repay ACS for what they did for him and wanted nothing more than to save someone else from what he was had to go through. ACS stayed by his side until the end giving him hope and support, and for that, I feel they are a remarkable organization.
We don’t necessarily have to donate money, but we can donate our time, and efforts to help those, and it will mean just as much. With volunteering at local organizations such as Salvation Army, the local women’s battered shelter, and the Look-Up Center. Salvation Army partners up with a organization called “Project Night Night” which helps the homeless children, and provides them with a blanket, stuffed animal and a book. “25,000 care packages the non-profit doles out each year aims to ease the psychological trauma homeless children suffer, while also promoting reading, and family bonding” (Goldburg par
Do you know what it is like to suffer from hunger? Do you know how it feels to know that the meal you are eating today might be your last meal for about a week? Hunger is defined in the dictionary as "the painful sensation or state of weakness caused by the need of food" Hunger is not easy and it is certainly not right to watch another starve when you know you can help. Peter singer dig deep to how the world can help people suffering and dying because of hunger, shelter, and medical need. Watching hunger develop is absurd especially when others have so much that they are throwing it away and not being considerate to the ones that are suffering. Many others from outside countries can do something about it with just little from everybody. Singer
...activity that can be achieved through a collaborative and all-encompassing identification and evaluation of the current state of hunger throughout the world. By accurately identifying the state of affairs, action can now be taken more effectively. In order to be effective, this action should begin with an increase in spending towards the problem, a bill that can be divided rationally between the countries capable of offering assistance, and should continue with an increase in societal involvement. This individual involvement can be achieved through donating, volunteering, or even educating the public as to the plethora of misconceptions surrounding world hunger. By increasing spending, involvement and the spread of information, the world can finally take the first step towards erasing world hunger once and for all—a reality that we should all be hungry to achieve.
Hunger and Poverty During the course of this particular essay, I will prove to you many points. Maybe not to the extreme that it will change one’s thought processes on the subject of hunger and world poverty, but enough to form a distinction between moral obligation and moral capacity. What I will not mention is the fact that Peter Singer’s outdated material (1971), though thorough in the sense of supporting his view on hunger and world poverty as well as examining this school of thought, is unconvincing to say the least. As our recent past has shown us, using Somalia and Rwanda as models, no amount of money or time on earth can come between a civil war. Terrible things happen, innocent people are slain in the names of either freedom or captivity, and land is destroyed, burned by the flames of either righteousness or wrath. But placing the burden of attempting to heal these wounds on the “well off” is not only immoral in itself, it is crazy. To consider an act a moral obligation, it must have an end that fits within the realm of reason. If someone is obligated to do something, then the purpose of that action holds meaning, therefore making the act a meaningful act. A characteristic of a meaningful act is a justifiably important end, that is, an end that which holds a higher purpose than the action against the obligated act. One can argue, using history as an example, that ending world poverty and hunger is not a reasonable goal. Singer uses the term “mora...
America needs to fund more of its own child hunger issues, but we still however are avid contributors to “third-world” hunger issues. The burden of hunger and malnutrition are mainly in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. According to Sally Raphel (2104), each day in the developing world, 30,100 children die from mostly preventable and treatable malnutrition. Global recessions also cause higher food prices and foreign aid reduction. Statically, these developing world countries see child hunger the most; about 89% of undernourished people (including children) live in developing countries. The bulk (more than 70%,)of the world’s hungry are in the rural areas and villages in Africa and Asia. From a national standpoint, women and children suffer the most, and malnourished mother, and expecting mother soften give birth to underweight babies (ESchoolToday 2010). The global hunger problem is closely related to poverty, the economy, malnutrition, health conditions, unemployment; and it’s going to take a global change to totally eliminate
In the United States today, hunger affects over 850 million people, and that number keeps increasing. Hunger can cause health defects and can slow or shut your body down. It can result in malnutrition and weakened immune systems. It is mainly caused by food distribution among countries. World hunger is a worldwide problem and it difficult to end it. People who don’t have enough food should be helped because they could die from malnutrition.
Progress Being Made Food security is a fundamental human right. Although still far from being generally accepted, significant progress is being made. Community and nongovernmental organizations are implementing successful programs against hunger. A number of governments have adopted national policies ...
