Counterargument
Although there are many solutions in combating human trafficking that are effective, there are also many that are not deemed as effective. For example, in Erick Erickson's article “Human Trafficking: ‘An $8 Billion International Business’”, he offers insights about how if prostitution was legalized, human trafficking would all go away. Despite this being a foreseen solution to human trafficking, it does the opposite of what is expected of it. A quote from Erickson’s article says “The Netherlands, for example, has seen a massive influx of human trafficking cases. Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and other countries with permissive attitudes on prostitution are at the top of the human trafficking list”. This quote is very …show more content…

These three effective solutions are much safer than the ones posed as ineffective and can be acted upon by anybody. Legalizing prostitution and arresting minors for prostitution are ineffective solutions because the common people have no effect on the outcomes of those situations, only lawmakers/enforcement do. Using solutions like research and the act of educating can open up doors for more people to want to get involved and help those in need. Stemming from “15 Ways You Can Help Fight Human Trafficking”, an article with an unknown author, it says: “Learn the indicators of human trafficking so you can help identify a potential trafficking victim. Human trafficking awareness training is available for individuals, businesses, first responders, law enforcement, educators, and federal employees, among others”. This quote is important because it tells people very straight forward what they can do to prevent human trafficking and how they can get involved in getting the education to spot the victims. Forming bills and laws against human trafficking is much more effective than charging minors with prostitution because the laws will help to protect the minors who are arrested and charged with prostitution despite being a victim of human sex-trafficking. Education, research, and prevention are all effective solutions to combating human trafficking because anyone can get involved and making awareness about the issue can help one day bring it to an
