Humans have many decisions within life. With these decisions humans have the choice to do good or evil. Within civilization however we have punishments for choosing evil choices however in Lord of the Flies the boys are stuck on an island and eventually abandon civilization. Over the course of the novel Golding portrays true nature of humanity evil, with boys on the island slowly slipping from civilization. Characters in Golding novel begin become more savage like with their actions. An example of this is Rodger murdering piggy and Jack raiding Ralph for piggy's glasses. The ideas of his interpretation is also shown in the Bible. The Bible talks about the human nature with a lot of the same ideas that Lord of the Flies has. Which is that Human nature is inherently evil. Many Bible verses show this such as Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick: who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 describes as the heart being deceitful above everything including logic and morals. We as humans sometimes put our own goals over others and bend the rules by lying to gain what we want even if it means doing evil to others. Another verse is Mark 7:21-23 “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” We see some of these actions that defile is person demonstrated in Lord of the flies. Theft was done by Jack stealing piggy's glasses, Murder was demonstrated twice with the death of Simon and Piggy, and wickedness with characters such as Jack and Rodger who inflict pain for their own pleasure. Although the human heart bad intent within many actions we have a system to make society civilized. We do this through laws, court, and arguments with reason not violence. However without these things the Bible's idea of human nature has many similarities to the ideas
