Briefly explain (in 50-100 words), how you decided which activity was the most important to you.
I have explored numerous domains – from academics and community service to extracurricular. Among all those, researching and learning about things beyond the school curriculum, is the most important for me. I have enjoyed learning for its sake, since my childhood. My passion to discover new facts, read about the latest news and theories of linguistics, philosophy, informatics or mathematics propelled me to delve into various resources to expand my knowledge base. I am of the opinion that no activity other than the desire to learn more can guide our lives, explain the world to us and us to the world. (100 words)

Most of us put our best efforts in every activity we are involved in. However, fear of societal disapproval upon falling short of the expected result or an unsuccessful outcome, does many times come in the way of doing so.
We should enjoy the journey through the roads named experiences, not fearing to do wrong and the society’s hypothetical parameters of ‘a successful person’. The dimensions of one’s efforts will one day surely be noticed by the entire world and valued, if not today. (339 words)

I want to live the Wisconsin Experience first hand in its entirety – partake in learning communities and benefit from the most up-to-date curriculum and innovations it is famous for, imbibe, as I explore and inquire in its cutting edge facilities, independently or with my cohorts. Further, UM’s study abroad programs, its student organizations and athletics that complete the UW experience also interest

Mathematics captivates me and transports me to a different realm of love and appeal. I cherish not only solving problems in mathematics, but also looking deep through those equations and results, to find out where the root of such beauties of nature and sciences lie – and working as sophomore under the aegis of URS, will enable me to push the envelope further. Additionally, I will like to another dimension to WIUF by including education, especially focus on STEM education in its ambit. Hildale Undergraduate/Faculty Research Fellowship is the other research opportunity that I am certain to benefit from. Attending department seminars, partaking in colloquia and interacting with fellow mathematicians will be ideal chances to brainstorm with them in UW’s intellectually superior
Every person begins as an average person, but somewhere down the road they realize what they are doing is not enough. As a result of this enlightenment, they walk down a different path than others and stand up for what they believe in. It is this commitment that changes this ordinary person into an extraordinary individual. They embark on adventures that are said to be hopeless and succeed in attaining it. Arising from there – a tenacious resolution to do what is morally correct – nothing is no boundary for what can be accomplished.
Every day in our lives, we desire to be perfect to please others. No matter how hard we try, if we do not achieve the concept of being perfect, then we will feel like failure. For example, every year at the Olympics, a newly crowned Olympic champion receiving a gold medal persuades young athletes to worry about winning a medal in every competition they compete. If they do not win a medal in a certain competition, then all their hopes are vanished for the next competition. This action shows how if we do not strive to emulate other people’s achievements, then we will not stand out from the rest of our population.
In The Meaning of Lives by Susan Wolf, she states, “They [people] want to be important, to have an impact on the world, to make a mark that will last forever. When they realize that they cannot achieve this, they are very disappointed. The only advice one can give to such people is: Get Over It”(846). Which is a statement I do not agree with. Many people are determined on making a difference in this world, whether it is small or large. Although, of course, every journey isn’t easy and it consists of many bumps along the way, which, in one of those bumps, could easily bring one down to think one cannot achieve our goal. That we cannot make a difference in this world. But no one should simply say to them “get over it” and make them think this.
Now, whenever I’m faced with a new, unfamiliar, or difficult task, I only hold myself to my own standards and expectations. Free from the weight of other’s expectations of me, I feel as though tasks that once felt burdensome now feel more tangible and achievable. Not that I suddenly feel as though I don’t need to give every new challenge everything I have, I just do so only seeking to meet my already high
It is the challenges we face that make it look dark and gloomy. The key to a productive existence is not the emotions we feel when presented with adversity, but in our ability to overcome, grow and evolve. In comparison, examine the Spoken Indian searching for hope in hardships, or the extraordinary taste and smell of the wine connoisseur who lacks sight. See the trial & errors or the young man growing to love both parents, and the college student whose heart is blistering with pain from the loss of his mother, but finds healing in his new home as an emerging scholar. We are all exploring methods to handle
In the general view today, the majority of people have come to assume that the building blocks of achievement are in the realm of possibility with the charisma and character of the individual. Contrary to this belief, Malcolm Gladwell proclaims in his novel Outliers that achievements are shaped by foreign forces in which certain people are granted particular opportunities and advantages that not everybody is given by chance. In spite of this his formula carries strong evidence in terms of these asserted forces like blatant lucky opportunities, date of birth, and family background assisting to pave the road for achieving success, Gladwell openly dodges the expense of hard-work and persistence. Gladwell’s theory of acquiring success holds some legitimacy, yet he purposely leaves out the quality of a person's individual effort within his analyses. The heart of success is within one's ability to endure through difficulties and misfortune as opposed to it solely being a matter of people taking advantage of various outside

If everyone thinks that without struggle, it is easy to obtain their goals that is entirely false. Struggle comes from the progress of our success and achievement. It is an indication that we poured all of our time and patience into the things we pursue. Jeannette Walls, the author of The Glass Castle, explain her struggles. She survives by finding foods from the trash can and earns money by babysitting, exchanging scrap metal, finding jobs, and from her parents. As a graduating student from high school, receiving my diploma is an indication that I ...

Humans, in general, endure a constant drive towards normalcy, to blend in with everyone else around them like a featureless flock of sheep. However, these sheep also wish to be the shepherd and lead the herd, directly contradicting while also coexisting with this drive for normalcy, but such is the complexity of the human psyche. Humans wish to stand out in their uniformity, to be the face of the faceless hoard. This desire is manifested in dreams, hopes, and aspirations, but our tendency towards anonymity often subdues this surprisingly intense yearning. People’s dreams are rarely fulfilled because they are too afraid to take the initiative and go after what they desire; they wish to make a change in this world but are too frightened by the possibility of failure.

As much as people want to live up to society’s idea of “success,” they simply cannot. While unavailability is an important aspect as to why it is tough for one to fit society’s view of triumph, the brutality of a profession can additionally be a chief
Nowadays, not only the competence, intelligence, and intention that can lead people to success, but also the behavior which is one of the factors. Most people may think that the goal of success is money; however, it is the achievement in the short-term, not the long-term. According to Christensen (2010), he has developed and presented several dimensions to students how to measure their lives and one of those ways is the humility. The three reasons why people should be modest are the limitless knowledge, more friends, and self-improvement.
...nk of as accomplishments that shaped who we are. Measuring ourselves against our personal achievents and the adversity we face is one of the many ways that we can examine our lives and potential. Adversity plays such a big role in our lives that it's almost invisible. We don't realize that practically everyday we face it and set it up to determine who we are going to be. Sometimes people are given a really crappy deck of cards and don’t know how to handle them. When were in a difficult situation, or faced with adversity we have two choices. Battle through it and become an even greater individual because of it or succumb to the situation and give up. It it all depends on how much determination a person has to fight through the adversity and in turn, become a better person.
In my life time I have accomplished many extraordinary tasks that I’ve put my mind too. I discovered that my signature themes have greatly affected the methods that I use to complete these tasks. People use their strengths in everyday life as well as in crucial, life changing situations. Important self-building achievement is one factor that makes people who they are. Another is the way that people apply there strengths to different situations.
