Dear Cereal Company President- According to our investigations, observations(data) and research from our PBIS textbook we recommend that if you want a slow and stable falling whirligig then the whirligig needs two paper clips on the stem and long blades. Based on our evidence from our whirligig experiment, the longer the blade length, the longer it took to reach the ground. Based on our data table, we found that when we used the longer blade length, the average fall time was about 2.55 seconds for the whole class. On the other hand, we found that the average of the small blade length was about 2.1 seconds also, for the class. This happened because air resistance occurs during the fall of the whirligig. When you increase the length of the blades you increase the surface area of the blades. This increase in surfaces area results in a greater number of collisions between the air molecules and the blades. The greater number of collisions creates a larger push upward on the bottom of the blades. Thus, increasing the blades size and creating larger air resistance according to page 55 in the PBIS textbook. That is why the …show more content…
From the data table, we found that the more paper clips the faster it will fall taking average 2.10 seconds to reach the ground for the class when the whirligig had 4 paper clips on it. However, when the whirligig had only one paper clips it took an average of 2.4 seconds to fall to the ground for the class. This happened because the more something weighs, the greater relationship it has with gravity. The more weight something has the less air resistance can pull up on it and counter gravity but when less are used less gravity is pulling down on it making it float more. Which why fewer paper clips used on the whirligig the more time it takes to fall to the
This report aims to recognize the contemporary statutory framework for identifying and working with children with Special Education Needs and Disability in England (The SEND Code Of Practice). The report will pay particular interest in discussing the key elements which derives from the 2014 Children and Families Act practiced in relation to the Department for Education (DfE). The report will pry into the current changes of the SEND code of practice, its assessment framework, why these have been introduced and who these changes makes a difference to. To discuss this the report will be looking at a variety of sources to better understand the most important details also includes but not limited to newspaper report, recent research papers,
This happens because making the shaft heavier puts more pressure down on the lighter blade. It creates a quicker release of the puck. (hfboards.hockeysfuture.com)
Mandated reports are a genre that is a part of numerous careers. Mandated reports are used by mandated reporters which are designate groups of professionals that are required to report cases of suspected child abuse and neglect. A mandated report has a specific way that it has to be field out because the severity of the information is a massive part in helping save an abused or neglected child from being endangered. This research analyzes the difference between the different documentations in mandating reporting and how one reports various from another. The next step is to investigate where and who the forms are turned into. I’ll be looking at the Social Worker perspective because it’s the field of study I’m going in and would potentially help me when I begin my career in children and family services. Giving the information about mandated reports would educate me on the all the factual information needed after receiving a mandate report and from the information gathered, how do they deiced whether or not it’s a serious case or not. This research would uncover every aspect from beginning to end of the entire process of when a report is submitted up until the discussion is made on what to do after reviewing the information. The report is used my any profession to report suspect child abuse or neglect at any time or place. There is a different between different careers on how the report is written depending on the person submitting it. The very last step is going in depth with analyzing the actual form and comparing and contrasting it to other forms from different states. I want to also look at, the different between the forms, depending on who is the attended audience.
As of May 30th 2017, the Supreme Court has settled the case BNSF Railway Co. v. Tyrrell in an 8:1 decision, ruling that a state level court cannot implement jurisdiction over a railroad company under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act.
In this experiment we are going to drop a paper cone with different sized weights in it from a height. Using a stopwatch we will time how long it takes for the cone to reach the floor. A stopwatch is used because it is very precise to the nearest 1000th of a second whereas a
The Terminal Velocity of a Paper Helicopter Introduction. Terminal velocity is the resulting occurance when acceleration and resistance forces are equal. As an example, a freefalling parachutist before the parachute opens reaches terminal velocity at about 120mph, but when the parachute is opened, terminal velocity is reached at 15mph, which is a safe speed to hit the ground at. This experiment will be no different, as I will be examining the terminal velocity of a freefalling paper helicopter.
A growing number of Americans have become boomerang enthusiasts. They use the tool for sporting hunting, or outdoor hobby purposes by learning how to throw boomerangs with the correct form. Manufacturers construct boomerangs with several types of materials, with carbon fiber plastic representing the superior material that allows boomerangs to achieve height and distance. Boomerangs operate on scientific principle, whether enthusiasts release the tool for one-way or return flights. Manufacturers manipulate the scientific principle premises by altering aerodynamic properties and boomerang design standards.
through. Then, the snares are gone. In this experiment I will investigate the way in which the height from which it is dropped affects the bounce of a table tennis ball. The ball is a Planning Objects that fall vertically, without air resistance, all have the same effect. same acceleration at ground level on Earth, which is 9.80665m/s2.
My themed research project will centre its focus upon the link between Riot Grrrl and its relation to Third-Wave Feminism. Primarily I aim to analyse Riot Grrrl’s music scene, but also its subculture mentioning its DIY punk ethic, political activism and most importantly its influential Zine network. However the purpose of this report is to demonstrate a grounded understanding in three research methodologies and how I will apply each one in regards to my own project. Firstly I’ll investigate the advantages of an Instrumental Case Study, looking at how it proliferates, rather than narrows a given field of study. Secondly I will delve into Symbolic Interactionism referring to some influential figures involved within this methodology, as well as providing an example in regards to my own topic. Finally I will clarify the subtle difference between Text Linguistics and Discourse Analysis, concluding as to why I have settled upon the latter in my own research.
The higher an object is held, the more potential energy it has (if it is going to be dropped). When that object, such as the basketball, is dropped, its potential energy is converted into kinetic energy. The closer the ball gets to the ground, the more its potential energy decreases and its kinetic energy increases. The reason the ball does not bounce up all the way back to its original drop point is because when it hits the surface, some of its kinetic energy is “l...
Report writing is a form of writing that gives it reader information a type of writing that explain what is taking place or what has taking it a recounting of events . Most newspapers use this type of descriptive recreation of events within their report writing they explain the circumstances of case, court proceeding, type of crime that occurred, etc. (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Newspaper writer try to explain to the readers what took place and why it is or should be topics of concern police report writing follow the same guidelines. Having the ability to write reports is of extreme importance in police and correctional work daily. Report writing is one of the primary forms of communication within the field of law enforcement agency. Police reports are read by supervisors, police chiefs, fellow officers as well as other criminal justice professionals. Furthermore these documents are written to display the result of an investigation, crimes scene, incidents, and more so it is imperative that there is no grammar errors or misspellings with in the document. Police report writers paint the picture of the events that took place from the time they were called until, the time of their arrival to a crime scene or incident. It’s important that all reports submitted by correctional workers and police officer be well-written with factual information giving step by step details of everything that transpired in chronological order also being very specific about every detail. The reason this is of high important is because this report can assist prosecutor in obtaining a valid conviction of the proper suspect accused (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Whereas if the police report is poorly written the defense can argue against the finding and may use the discrepancies against the prosecuting state. When poorly written reports are enter into evident for juries to deliberate on it a huge possibility that the report may cause jurors to call into to question whether the officer who wrote it is as careless in other aspects of their police work. as noted by (Police reports and there purpose (n.d). Another issue that will occur if reports are not properly written is miscommunications or misunderstanding. For example a police officer submits a document with only one misspelled words to his police chief, the chief read the report from the officer he put decrease instead of the deceased and cause the chief to send the report the wrong department.
I recommend a thinner or slightly weighted rope to facilitate a quicker moving rope. This skill is about speed and control. The rope needs to be at a length that is comfortable for you. The jump rope handles should go past your waist about 3 - 6 inches when you stand on the rope with both feet about shoulder width apart.
The idea of winglets was developed by F.W. Lancaster a British aerodynamicist in the late 1800s. However, it was not until an energy crisis in 1976, causing the price of fuel to skyrocket, that Richard Whitcomb, a NASA aerodynamicist, took Lancaster’s concept to the next step. Whitcomb soon published a comparison between a wing with a winglet and the same wing with a simple wing extension to increase its span. This paper showed significant improvement from the simple wing extension to the wing with the winglet. The winglet caused a reduction in drag and an improvement in the lift/drag ratio. Whitcomb proved that in theory the winglet would work, but it was Burt Rutan, an American aerospace engineer that went ahead and designed his ‘Vari-Eze’ to incorporate the ‘Whitcomb Wings’. “Rutan takes winglets from the drawi...
A wind turbine is a device that converts kinetic energy from the wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used to produce electricity, the device may be called a wind generator, wind charger or wind turbine. If the mechanical energy is used to drive machinery, such as for grinding grain or pumping water, the device is called a windmill or wind pump (Niki 2007). Today modern wind turbines typically have three blades. The blades are usually colored light gray to blend in with the clouds and range in length from 20 to 40 meters or more. The tubular steel towers range from 60 to 90 meters tall. The blades rotate at 10-22 revolutions per minute. At 22 rotations per minute the tip speed exceeds 91 meters per second (Rosenbloom, 2006). The modern horizontal-axis, three-bladed wind turbine can be divided into three main components. First, the rotor component, which includes the blades for converting wind energy to low speed rotational energy. Second is the generator component, which includes the electric generator, the control electronics, and most likely a gearbox component for converting the low speed incoming rotation to high speed rotation suitable for generating electricity. The control system engages protective features to avoid damage at high wind speeds. Finally, the structural support component includes the tower and rotor yaw mechanism that turns the turbine towards the wind. (Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, 2006)
