Would You Take Financial Advice from Amber Rose What is the key to financial success? Everybody is willing to give you their advice, but you probably don't want to ask your struggling neighbor or family member who has as much debt as you have. When you think about celebrities, it is hit or miss there as well. Sure, many of them learned how to make tons of money, but many of them lost it just as quickly, too. If you ask Amber Rose what qualifies her to drop her name in the hat with financial gurus like Suze Orman or Sheryl Sandberg, she will tell you that it isn't all of the things she's done right, but the life experience she has and the things she has overcome. “I feel like I’m in a position to give advice to women because I’ve made all of these mistakes, one of the biggest financial mistakes that I ever made was making a lot of money—I wanna say I made $1 million in 2011—and I spent all of it." …show more content…
"I had to pay taxes, and I did not have money for the taxes, and I was like, ‘I cannot believe I did this.’ And I really had to start over." In her book, "How to Be a Bad Bitch", Rose shares her financial insight and entrepreneurial wisdom. She hopes that others can learn from the mistakes that she has made and skip straight to making and keeping their money. Rose started off as an exotic dancer, posed for some pictures and quickly got picked up by Louis Vuitton for a Kanye West sneaker advertisement. Since then, she has been a model, rapper, designer, television personality, and spokesperson for products like Smirnoff. She is an example of what hard work and tireless pursuit of your dreams can
What would you do if you had $15,000? Would you give some to charity, or perhaps buy a new car? Maybe you could finally get that watch or purse that you’ve always wanted. The problem is that many people thought they had this much money. Unfortunately, it was all on a credit card and now they are paying 18% extra on their purchases; in some cases, even more than that. That equates to you paying roughly $18,000 dollars for something that only cost $15,000. Many Americans are faced with these bills today, but there is hope. There are people out there who want to get us out of debt, and back on our feet. This essay will look at two of those people; Dave Ramsey and Suze Orman. You will have to decide which will work best for you. Hopefully
While reading the story, “I Ain’t No Good Girl” by Sharon Flake, I felt like the characters did not really develop the plot as I would have anticipated. The story “I Aint No Good Girl” is primarily about a girl who is madly in love with a guy named Raheem that she is completely blind sighted about the fact that he is abusing, threatening, and gets cheated on. But what aggravates me the most is that even after all that she constantly takes him back.
Rose uses very detailed description of what his mother did on a regular basis to get a point across to his readers. He wants us to see that working a blue collar job requires a tremendous amount of brain power. And the reason he is so successful, is because of the detail he uses. When I read this specific paragraph I honestly can imagine what Rosie used to do while at her job. How she adapted to new situations. How she was able to remember what each person ordered out the nine tables she was in charge of. To being able to know if something was taking too long to cook and check-in with the chef to see if there was a problem. These are just some of the problems Rosie would face each day while working as a waitress. I believe that even today waitresses are looked down upon by most people. But they are hard working people and deserve respect for what they
“: You hungry, Gabe? I was just fixing to cook Troy his breakfast,” (Wilson, 14). Rose understands her role in society as a woman. Rose also have another special talent as a woman, that many don’t have which is being powerful. Rose understands that some things she can’t change so she just maneuver herself to where she is comfortable so she won’t have to change her lifestyle. Many women today do not know how to be strong sp they just move on or stay in a place where they are stuck and unable to live their own life. “: I done tried to be everything a wife should be. Everything a wife could be. Been married eighteen years and I got to live to see the day you tell me you been seeing another woman and done fathered a child by her,”(Wilson, 33). The author wants us to understand the many things women at the time had to deal with whether it was racial or it was personal issues. Rose portrays the powerful women who won’t just stand for the
Barbara Kingsolver, author of “Rose-Johnny” once said, “The very least you can do in your life is figure out what you hope for. And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it from a distance but live right in it, under its roof.” This quote is very relevant to the points Kingsolver was stating throughout the story of “Rose-Johnny.” Every single person has several of dreams in their lifetime, which they want to fulfill. One thing those people have to watch out for is the many obstacles that they may encounter on their journey to success. Just like Rose-Johnny and Georgeann had to throughout the story. Success is a big deal to many, especially those that love the feeling of doing something to their greatest ability and doing a great job at it. I feel like Kingsolver implied numerous of hint through the actions of the characters and made the reader ponder on them for awhile, some of these would be the fact that nobody should lie and if it happens people should fess up to their mistake, everybody gossips so watch what is said about others, and people need to watc...
Most people would be ecstatic if they had the kind of money that these kids inherit. In listening to them talk about their wealth, it almost seems as if some of them are lost. Could it be because they can’t fail or don’t have the pressure of succeeding to survive and thrive?
Some have applauded Ivanka Trump and her successes with Women Who Work, Kate Taylor of Business Insider, addresses some overlooked points in Trump’s book. Ivanka Trump wrote the book prior to her father’s presidency. Taylor states, “There are a handful of interesting tidbits in the book that help illuminate the powerful first daughter.” Taylor acknowledges popular scrutiny and emphasizes Ivanka Trump’s power in writing a book for American working
Jeanne Wakatuski is a young girl who had to endure a rough childhood. She thought herself American, with a Japanese descent. However, with WWII and the internment camps, Jeanne struggled to in understanding who she really was. It started with Manzanar, at first she knew herself as a Japanese American. Living in Manzanar gave her a new perspective, “It (Manzanar) gradually filled me with shame for being a person, guilty of something enormous enough to deserve that kind of treatment” (Houston and Houston 161). Jeanne faced the problem of being someone who was not wanted or liked in the American society. A good section that shows the discrimination at the time was when Jeanne tried to join the Girl Scouts, which is on page 144. She was turned
“Wealth, as a byproduct of fame, provides immediate, tangible evidence of celebrity’s distinction and staying power. Fame’s windfall goes a long way in lifting financial burdens, opening the celebrity to experiences that are special. Money is no longer a “worry,” and provides “the glory side, the financial side of being famous.” Some celebrities go from “not being able to afford a home,” to multi-million dollar contracts. They are our royalty.”, according to Donna Rothwell’s essay “Being a Celebrity; A Phenomenology of Fame”(Rothwell page 191).Basically, wealth dissolves the concern regarding financial status that the average citizen feels 24/7.Like most people, to acquiring such assets does provide a sense of a luxurious life. It is
When average Americans struggle to put food on the table, many affluent people struggle to remain financially sound. Celebrities, politicians, lotto winners, and professional athletes receive millions of dollars in wages and payments, but somehow are unable retain their fortunes. According to the U.S. census bureau, the median family income in the United States is about 30,000 dollars annually; somehow some parents are able to feed their children and fund their children’s education. According to recent studies by CNN Money, the median cost of raising children to age eighteen was 241,080 dollars and that number does not even include the cost of a college education. The cost of a college education is continually on the rise and can go as high as 60,000 dollars a year for private universities. Many of the average family’s wages have remained stagnant while many costs such as: gas, healthcare, groceries, clothing and an education have risen at exponential rates. Unfortunately, many of society’s, wealthy believe they have limitless funds while many of them face charges of fraud and tax evasion. But what causes rich Americans to find the desire to self-indulge? Fame can place individuals with a heavy burden to become successful.
The act that Rose has pushed for so long eventually fails. With nowhere to go, June abandons her stage career to get married to one of the stage boys. Rose, Herbie, and Louise find word of this at a train station, on the way to another act. Rose takes this as a complete shock, and doesn’t know what to say. In fact, she sits on the bench at the rail station traumatized, and doesn’t move for minutes. Furthermore, while this is going on, Herbie and Louise repetitively try to convince Rose to quit the show business so that they can settle down as a family. This seems to hurt Rose, who ignores these requests and tries to formulate, in her song “I had a dream”, a plan for Louise to be the new star (1:19:55). Throughout the scenes examined before, Rose’s individualism and self-oriented actions have shown through, but not to this degree. Rose wants to make Louise the star and Louise responds to this by hiding and hugging Herbie, both with a look of dismay on their face. Herbie and Louise are second to Roses ambitions, that point is made clear. Roses actions speak volumes as well. When speaking about her future plans for success, Rose looks upward almost like she can see the peak, and then looks back down at Louise almost as if to include a forgotten, now an important piece of the puzzle. This is also one of the starkest times that Rose has subjected Louise, against her wishes, just
success comes when one is making more than one is spending. There are few things
Her father died and left her and her mother in a hard situation as he made most of the money. She must marry into a family with a lot of wealth to continue the type of lifestyle she was use to, the abundance of valuable possessions and money. Cal, Roses fiance is one that makes it clear on her place in their relationship. Gender stratification is also a big role in their relationship. Cal makes it exceptionally clear that Rose must obey and reflect well on him, and if she doesn 't not violence could be in place. Gender Stratification shows that Cal is the higher between the two according to their gender. Cal felt that he had prestige over others like Rose and Jack. That his achievements and his high class and being a successful male made him much more qualified to be with Rose, even if Rose didn 't agree. Rose didn 't care about her fiance 's achievements and prestige, as her feelings for Jack were growing. They snuck off to hide from her fiance and because their relationship wasn 't accepted for many
The glance of her, the aggressive words of her, and apathetic tone of her cause audience to pay attention on her inward struggles and her aversion to all those cliches in her life. And it is also obvious that a consistent pattern of scenes shifting between fist class daily and third class life wants to drive audience’s attention to the class gap. And the reason that James Cameron wants us to focus on the differences is, personally speaking, letting us know how hard it is for the two characters to fall in love with each other, and how much efforts and determination had Rose made to put her original social background aside to be with Jack. And also James Cameron wants to potentially exaggerate the impressiveness of the epic story by presenting lots of contrasts and the extreme reactions of Rose at the beginning of this film. Viewers can find that most of the upper class has a thought of keeping decent, in a hyperbolic way, and we can spot that by looking at a little girl taught by her mom to sit in so-called noble position while there were several third class children crazily playing games at the board. Shouldn't a kid act like a kid whenever he or she is still able to do
The fame that comes from being a celebrity or entrepreneur does not render them immune from ridicule, speculations, loneliness, or exploit. Those chasing the American Dream may see this end goal of becoming wealthy enough for all of their problems to disappear, but this ...
