The Racket that Changed My Life. I was born in a small Colombian town with limited access to resources. I was an energetic child who developed an amazing love for sports. My parents began taking me to sports training schools like soccer, where I took part in several children's tournaments and won my first trophy as the least-defeated goalkeeper. I also learned to swim at 6. Later, they took me to a tennis coach who recognized my talent for this sport. When my parents heard the coach talk about my strong swing, they immediately asked him to train me. The next day, I was already on a tennis court with a borrowed racquet. I took part in children's tournaments and realized that with little training I was better than others who trained more. That's …show more content…
For example, we came to this country seeking new opportunities, better training, and more intense competition. Trial: This trial requires resistance, agility, and strategy. It is a challenge to overcome daily; it also involves sacrifice and commitment to reach and maintain high competition. A tennis court is a battlefield where two players measure their tactical skills, so winning yields great personal achievement. My greatest achievements are several championships I've won, but the most notable one is a tournament where the prize was to be a caddie for a Roger Federer vs. Alexander Zverev match, which I won with great effort. I've also taken part in national and international tours with COSAT and the International Tennis Federation. I continue to face the challenge of trying to find a university that gives me the same opportunities I had in high school. Tennis has rewarded me with a beautiful, challenging, and passionate journey that has followed me from my first borrowed racquet to my national and international achievements. I've constantly improved personally, physically, mentally, and
A Utilitarian Analysis of Cyber Violence among Sports Fans Introduction Cyberspace is a significant part of our daily life. In the sports world, most teams and individual players use online platforms to interact with their fans. Meanwhile, online platforms, especially social media, provide sports fans with viable avenues to manage social identities. Fans use these platforms to elevate group distinctiveness, minimize in-group issues, and derogate out-group members (Sanderson, 2013). However, due to
How have women been portrayed in sports advertisements? Before I started school, I spent a large portion of my days outside, being an active child. I continued to be active throughout elementary school, and then in middle and high school I joined just about every sports team I could, including: cross country, golf, volleyball, gymnastics, and track. I consider myself lucky to have been given so many opportunities, since women were unable to participate competitively in sports until the 1900’s. I
Research Paper “As a child, I loved athletics and physical activities. I was talented, but my talent was not appreciated or approved of by most. I watched my brothers compete on school teams. It didn't matter that in the neighborhood pick-up games, I was selected before my brothers. Society dictated that I should watch, and that they should compete. So at home in the backyard, I would catch as my brother worked on his curve ball, I would shag flies as he developed his batting prowess and, as I
author for my paper, I chose international suspense because I am very interested in foreign relations and the technology of modern day war. I have read stories by Edgar Allen Poe, with suspense and vivid imagery, which reminded me of Clancy's work. I decided to choose Tom Clancy because of his talent to weave such realistic tales of international suspense. Clancy creates the scenes in his books with such detail, it makes the reader feel like he/she is there. My first choice for this paper was Dr
Johnson's explosive two hundred meter record run at the 1996 Atlanta Games, are all paradigmatic examples of Coubertin's ideals. The record stands as a symbolic message of human greatness and infinite possibility. However, as will be shown in this paper, the record idea is not unproblematic. First, sport records are defined. Second, based on critical, conceptual analyses, the logic of the record is examined and possible consequences are discussed of the continuous quest for new records. Finally, some
anxious. “How to behave , how to love them and how to manage everything which can make everyone happy” thousands of these kind of questions come across their womens’ mind. Being a stepmother is new to a childless woman who never been into the situation with kids. She is about to enter in new life. It is easy to adjust for these couple with each other. The relationship between child-stepmother experiences the most difficulties. Children take longer time to accept a new person in their house. My research
Alan Bennett's work is impressive and his understanding of characterization is second to none. He has an ability to capture the life- styles and backgrounds of the characters he creates. The language of each character brings forward clichés that can be humorous although in my view this might not have been always intentional. In carrying out my research I found an article in The Times Newspaper where Alan Bennett recognized that although he calls this work a series of monologues they
definition of feminism is the belief in the need to protect rights, and opportunities for women to be equal to those of men. It is also saying they can go through life without having a man in their lives and living as independent women. Anti-feminism is the opposite of feminism and says women are all the same and do need a man in their life. Christie uses feminism and anti-feminism to view women during the twentieth century in the three books. First, Agatha Christie does not just use feminism but
