Prejudice effects millions of Americans on a daily basis. Not only does it lower their self esteem but it forces them to believe they can not be accepted because of a certain characteristic they posses. Many victims of prejudice are given stereotypes of who they will become because of their backgrounds. This lowers their self esteem and puts the image in their heads that excelling beyond their stereotype is not possible. Due to this criticism they will never reach their fullest potential.
