The Great Gatsby, a love story on the surface but commonly understood as the American Dream. Fitzgerald’s sight on the American Dream is that it is possible. One time he portrays the american dream and the one that stood out to me is the green light at the end of daisy's dock, to me this says the american dream can be big or small it only matters if you are happy. I think that in this story it is saying that the American Dream is real and it is possible but it is not all about money. Gatsby is debatably living the american dream in The Great Gatsby. Gatsby says at the hotel room that he didn´t mary Daisy back then because he was going into war and had no money. Gatsby inherited money from his parents then he blew it. That is why he went into the war. The second part of his dream was to mary daisy and that did not work out like the whole money situation. In the hotel room also way when he confessed to Daisy and Tom that he still loved her. The valley of ashes shows people that working for the american dream is not just about the money. You can see this in gatsby because he is not living the american dream because he is not happy. He strived to make money and then to get daisy but in reality it was all about daisy. Money is not what makes you happy finding the love of your dreams or doing what you loves makes you happy. When he is with Nick you can see that he buys a bunch of toys and those parties to keep him happy for a short amount of time.
