So many people are drawn to popular people. Most popular people have many friends, and everyone wants to be friends with them. A popular person is someone who models something of importance and makes the path clear for everyone else. Atticus Finch is the most popular character in To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee because he models being a friendly neighbor, a compassionate father, and an educated man. Atticus Finch models being a friendly neighbor in many ways. One way he models this is by helping Miss Maudie when her house burns down.
