When I made my second artifact which was a deep sea diver sketch, I was able to see improvement in my sketching skill already and that the problems I had been facing had been fixed. Upon giving myself time to contemplate my mid way design, I felt more confident in my sketching, but felt that it still needed some work as it was lacking something. My sketches were missing depth to them, they were always of a few things next to each other, there was no feeling of depth to my sketches. To improve upon this aspect of my drawing; I researched and practiced scaling my drawings for different depths in my sketches. The reason for this was to make my art more appealing to those who looked at it, as art can "connect people more deeply to the world and open them to new ways of …show more content…
I wanted to make my sketches have more depth so that people can experience this new way of seeing. Art can be used as a form of communication between anyone, it transcends language and can be experienced by anyone. Teaching art to children is important, as art is equivalent to a language that all people can experience; it can express how people are feeling, their experiences and even their ideas. So that the have can see “Arts as a language for communication and critical awareness” (Kindler).
The third artifact and last sketch in my learning journey was designed with the intention of expressing the sketching improvement I had experienced. When I looked at my final sketch which was this artifact in subject, I felt extremely satisfied that I had accomplished the demonstration of this improvement. I was able to incorporate how all of the problems I had with sketching had been resolved from the images being both two and three
Do you ever just sit back and wonder how many images run through your brain everyday and thinking back on that how many of those were images from our society’s pop culture? With our ever growing technology and media of our society, children are constantly being exposed to visual stimuli. Paul Duncum, a professor of art education, studies how these stimuli not only affect our students and children but also how we can incorporate them into the art classroom in an effective way. In this paper I will illustrate to you the life and work of Paul Duncum. I will be talking about Duncum’s contributions to art education, his teaching philosophy, and how I can use his beliefs and teachings in my future as an art educator but first I would like to give you some background on Paul Duncum.

Upon series completion, the Drawing Inquiry (DI) form is used as a tool for verbal processing of the pictures. The participant is asked
Imagine a researcher requesting you to copy a picture. It's a simple task. You move your instrument of illustration across a sheet of blank paper with ease, glancing from the given picture to your own sketch in progress. When you are finished you observe a satisfactory replica and feel a sense of accomplishment and proficiency with the similarity you have achieved between picture and sketch. Then the researcher queries whether you can tell him what you have drawn. You search the interconnected lines, the edges, and the shapes of your sketch but cannot answer what the picture represents. Finally, an explanation is given. You have just drawn a house- a simple triangle resting on top of a square. Your sense of accomplishment is quickly replaced with a feeling of despair.
In the 19th century Kate Chopin’s novel The Awakening shocked and outraged much of the Victorian literary public. With “True Woman” being the fashionable and iconic movement of the decade for a novel to backlash at “True Woman” was unspeakable to many readers. The main character Edna Pontellier throws away her social values to do what she wants, including having an illicit love affair. Of all the subtle foreshadowing and symbolism Chopin displays in this classic novel the sea plays a major role in Mrs. Pontellier’s so called “Awakening”.
There’s also a break from gender roles in carving and sculpting, as it’s traditional for men to do these activities. However, that does not stop her due to her background of experiencing deculturization in the residential schools. As Point states, “Medium or means has never been an issue for me, nor do I see woodcarving as a male versus female accomplishment. I love to try new mediums, so I just do what I feel like doing, and wood is a medium I love to work with.” This is what makes Susan Point’s work rather unique because she likes to work and collage with new materials. She enjoys learning from these techniques and like many artists, wants to go through processing and learning each stage of medium. The art path for her was rather challenging
This assignment was for art. This is a Zentangle. I had to draw thumbnails of our composition before selecting my final arrangement. I had to draw designs in pencil on the paper and after that, I had to draw over the pencil with a sharpie. The lines from the pencil were not supposed to be seen. At first, I had to draw one line that had loops or something. After that, every time there was a line or it was separating it you had to do a different design in every place.
Even though I have improved a lot from my initial blind contours and respective studied observations (#1,2,3), my greatest drawing weakness is still knowing where and how to adjust hand pressure, varying density of drawn lines and maintaining smoothness – to breathe life into my drawings. Looking at sketch #1, you can see both drawings (by memory and by observation), have almost uniform line density and discontinuous lines that make the sketch look extremely plain and lose any persuasion. Uniform line quality and these broken lines can also be seen in sketches #2 and #3. The lines in those two sketches are also very uniform and boring. In #2 I spent too little time on any detail and applied too much pressure the entire time, giving a uniformity
* Children can learn thru any kind of art many thinks, will help them in their social and emotional skill, that children feel relax and be more patience with something they like, children feel successful that they can do a lot, and at the same time children can express their feelings. Children interacting with their peers and adult too they build a good relationship.
A child’s drawing can tell so much about what they are thinking and feeling about their surroundings. They see things differently from adults and teens because when they are drawing or doing some sort of art they are not told that it is a “bad picture” or what ever they are doing is “not right.” They don’t have a limit upon their thoughts and ideas, but when they grow up, they do. Starting from the first day of school, they are taught about the wrong things and the right things. As we grow older there are more classes that have right and wrong answers to a question like, for example, math.
Marine art is defined as any form of art that portrays the main inspiration from the sea. This piece of art has a three-dimensional line because it looks like the picture is in motion with the waves getting higher and higher, while moving the boat. The form of this picture would be the height of the waves that are sharpening at the tip, so sharp that if touched it looked like it would cut you. I think that the artist implied this into the picture because it shows how unbalanced things could be in life. When looking at this piece of art someone would describe the intensity really dull and dark.
I’m not taking very many classes to prepare for my future career although I am taking art 2-D Fundamentals. It somewhat involves an area of fashion designing, that area being sketching. I r...
I was trying to follow this concept but one of the artwork I exhibited did not match this concept. Therefore, this made it one of my least successful artwork because it not fit the theme of the exhibition. To improve this I would make sure the pixel of my artworks would match the print size. In order, to get the correct resolution in the final print, which displayed in any space. I would also work with the theme better I would make sure the artworks all relate to one another to make the artworks arrangement and display more thoughtful and neat.
Firstly, children’s cognitive development is greatly enhanced through visual arts. In order for children to produce art, they have to think of an idea, an experience or feeling and construct symbols to express what they know (Isbell & Raines, 2007). Exploration of art materials help children build a knowledge of their physical properties which supports decision-making, evaluation and problem-solving (Edwards, 2010). Moreover, children will have many opportunities to work together in small groups and will then learn to value others’ ideas (Isbell & Exelby, 2001). Since visual arts is a form of self-expression, children can express their feelings through artworks and hence, learn emotional regulation. Small muscle development occurs when children cut, paste, draw and paint while large muscles develop through activities such as creating a large mural (Isbell & Raines, 2007). Therefore, visual arts enhances children’s development in all
All throughout time people have used their imaginative minds to express some form of art, whether it be painting, drawing, sculpture, and dance, theatre, music or technology, this has happened all around the world. Furthermore, I think that the youth of the world have the biggest imagination because everything to them is new and they can’t help but imagine “what if” or “how”. Therefor that’s the power of imagination, and preferably for me I use it for art. Art to me is almost like an escape from everything negative in my life. Many say that art is beauty, and we say beauty ...
