How Football Changed My Life

My life has consisted of two things: football and school. Those two important aspects of my life have helped in sculpting me as well as modifying me. Though two completely different subjects, both aspects put together have allowed me to abandon my childhood and establish my adulthood. I had never been more nervous in my life, up until that day. I clenched my hands as they began to moisten. Sweat was dripping from my armpits down to the side of my body. I could feel my body getting warmer and warmer as time inched closer and closer. My name soon to be called. “Joshua… Michael… Andrew,” the announcer said. What seemed to be seconds to the audience felt like eternity to me. In that moment I left my childhood and began a new chapter of my life: Adulthood. I began playing football when I was ten years old. Football has always been my favorite sport because I was surrounded by much of it. My older cousins all played football and most of my family would watch the sport every Sunday. I began tackle football a year later and I have played ever since. Football is my love and passion. My love for football is the fuel that drives me to remain dedicated which morphed me into the hard working, humble person I have become. “If it was easy everybody would do it,” my coach often shouts. He is right. Many people love football, but not enough to play it. I myself love football enough to go through months of strength and conditioning. To wake up at seven in the morning during the summer to lift, attend meetings, and practice rather than enjoy it like the rest of my peers illustrates my dedication.
