Marley runs away from his problems, but strangely has a positive attitude towards the bullies. Marley gets bullied throughout the novel, then once he wins the Turkey Trot, his popularity increased. Warp Speed illustrates that a positive attitude/act can help you reach great heights. In the beginning of the novel, Warp Speed, Marley thinks very low of himself. He lets people walk all over him. Marley is also part of the group of “nerds”. He even calls himself a loser on page 10. Also, on page 7 Marley says, “At the start of every new year, I write a word that describes me. I’ve written hopeful and adequate. But this year, I wrote invisible.” Marley used invisible as an idiom. He isn’t saying he is completely invisible to the human eye. In fact, people like Digger Ronster and the Gorn see him perfectly fine. It’s the popular kids who have trouble “seeing him”. But, as the plot moves along, a new class for Marley and his friends turns his world upside down. In the events leading up to the climax of Warp Speed, a new character creates a friendship with Marley, and leaves a huge affect on the plot. In the novel, one of Marley’s favorite teachers was sent to the hospital. Therefore, all the students from this class had to be moved to a different class, and that class happened to be Home Sciences. In chapter 15 on page 77 a student from Home Sciences walks up to Marley and says, “Hi, Marley, my name is Emily Ebers!” In Warp Speed, Emily Ebers is one of those “popular girls”, and she just happens to be in Marley’s temporary class. Emily then stands next to Marley, and then the teacher blows a bicycle horn to the class’s attention, and says, “Class, eventually, we will use the sewing machines. But, since we have Mr. Jiang’s Technical Sciences students as our guests for the next couple of weeks, I’ve decided to deviate a little from our lesson plans. Everyone, please pair up.” Emily then asks Marley if they could work together. Marley felt very strange. A girl wants to be my partner?! He thought on page 77. Marley was thinking that it was some practical joke. He also had thought that Emily was some type of bully. But, still treated her with a positive attitude. Therefore, a positive attitude can change the way people act. By the end of the climax, Marley’s relationship changes with one of the main bullies.
In chapter 55 Digger Ronster, a bully who forces Marley to let him copy his homework, confronts Marley about his test. Digger asked if her could move seats to sit next Marley during the test. He then had the opportunity to copy of Marley’s test. But, Marley scammed him. Marley purposely got a lot of questions wrong on the test. Anyway, Digger stood in front of Marley and said, “Hello Marley. You double-crossed me. You better say sorry.” By this point in the novel, Marley hated Digger Ronster most of all. Marley and Digger argued back and forth, then Digger then holds up his hand, ready to throw a punch. But, before Digger hits him, Marley says, “Go ahead, hit me. Hit me and you’ll be the one who’s sorry. Sorry that your so stupid and you can’t even pass a class without cheating. That’s what you are Digger, a cheater. I wonder how your almighty dad would feel about that? Or is he too busy putting people out of business to notice?” At this point is time, Marley was furious with Digger. But, then a car screeches to a stop, and a big man storms out. He was insane scary! “Get over here!” The man yelled. He put his face less than an inch away from Digger’s. “What did I tell you about fighting?!” The man screamed. That’s when Marley recognized him, he was Ronnie Ronster, Digger’s father. Marley runs away after the fight gets too intense too watch. The next morning, in chapter 59, Marley meets Digger and the corner. The two calmly talk, Marley then gives Digger something that means alot to him, his Captain Kirk action figure. “Captain Kirk?” Digger ask Marley, just plain confused. “I carry him around for good luck, but he’s yours if you want him. He’s a good guy.” The two then just continue down the street. Digger then slips Captain Kirk into his pocket. That night, Marley thought about what had happened that morning then wrote into his Captain’s Log, on page 299, Former foe now a

The way in which he is judged on his appearance and socioeconomic status fluctuates from each particular individual who judges him. In a person’s life, one must overcome obstacles that have the potential to either negatively or positively impact their future. Whether it is a serious obstacle, such as being involved with drugs, or a minor obstacle, such as procrastinating an important essay for the night before it is due, the choices people make can influence the way they live their lives. In Wes Moore’s inspiring non-fiction book, The Other Wes Moore, two boys with the same name start off living a few blocks away from one another, but turn out to be completely different individuals. At first, they were both troublemakers, getting in trouble with the law. However, as time progressed, the author, Wes Moore, became a Rhodes scholar and quite successful, while the other Wes Moore was sentenced to life in prison. The difference between these two men was the surrounding influences that shaped their growth as people. In a person’s growth, the most important factors are a positive role model in a positive environment because a positive role model will provide the path to success and will aid that person in achieving prosperity.

When Lavender was shot, Lieutenant Cross blamed himself for not being able to protect him because of his imagination of tunnels collapsing on top of him and Martha. “Linda was nine then, as I was, but we were in love. And, it was real, too. When I write about her now, three decades later, it’s tempting to dismiss it as a crush, an infatuation of childhood, but I know for a fact that what we felt for each other was as deep and rich as love can ever get.”
Whereas, Wheatley who shares her “actual” experience of being kidnapped from her native lane. Although these two artists have similar view points, they interpret different concepts that separate the two. While listening to Redemption , Marley mentioned "But my hand was made strong, by the hand of the almighty, we forward in this generation, triumphantly" from those few quotes Marley obviously believes that through all the pain and agony of slaves, his generation will be able to create a difference. Next, “Old pirates, yes they rob I, sold I to the merchant ships” refers to the slave traders who robbed the Africans by selling them into slavery, So him using “I” is referring to the whole African nation. Marley also talks about the importance of escaping mental emancipation . Break through the mind set that we as African Americans are worthless and understand our power as a nation and the difference we could

...uality, nature, anti-materialism and self-reliance. His music was purposed towards encouraging people to believe in their choices and decisions rather than believing in the teachings of societal institutions. Bob Marley criticized religion is an institution which instead of uniting people ends up separating them. He also warns people not to suffer in the name of going to even and live an afterlife. Rather, they should live in heaven on earth that is, they should be happy in their lives. Bob Marley’s song corresponds to transcendentalist who believed that people should not conform to the normal life patterns. Transcendentalists, just like Bob Marley, believed that one derives happiness from what he/she believes is right no matter what people think or the consequences. When one stands up for his/her rights, he/she does not follow what has been stipulated or instructed.
The universal struggle that everyone in today’s society goes through is invisible due to the fact that many individuals do not understand first hand how it is to live every day in the harsh matter that comes with dealing with the struggle. Moreover, many individuals similar to the position of Sonny in Sonny’s Blues by James Baldwin feel as their inner struggle to escape the compelling, scary, and brutal, harsh reality around them is unbearable, and sometimes even tough to think about leaving for a better life. Additionally.
