The use of alcohol has has a huge impact on our human lives. Now I know some of you have not been affected by alcohol at all in your life, but sadly there is also a small number of you that have been affected by alcohol in some way whether it was through driving under the influence, physical abuse, and maybe have even been affected yourself. Those under the influence of alcohol may become aggressive and contentious. Alcohol has consequences that affect their health, family, and friends — appearance, children, and companions. Alcohol abuse can progress to physical abuse and addiction in such a artful and deceitful way that many people may not realize that they have become addicted.

possess alcohol, i will then talk about why teenagers are not old enough and responsible enough to consume alcohol, finally i will talk about the health effects alcohol may have on the consumer. To begin my speech i must first elaborate on why teenagers should not be able to consume alcohol. to begin underage drinking is illegal in all of the 50 states of america and when most parents find out that their children have been drinking they are noit the happiest also the amount of resilience a police officer has when pulling over a drunk driver is none. and not only is this unsafe towards society it is a crime. drinking under the influence is a misdemeanor that may result in a 6 month sentence and $1000 fine. now to move on to my second point. Teenagers are not old enough nor are they responsible enough to consume alcohol.
when alcohol is combined with people ba judgment happens and it only gets worse when combined with teenagers. now with that say we can conclude that the more alcohol consumed the crazier the party gets, and lesser and lesser judgment occurs.
So imagine this you and your friend are coming home from a movie and while you two were heading home a under age drunk driver decides they want swerve into your lane and collide head on to you, this leaves you a dead best friend, and a stoned driver that thought it would be fine to drive home while under the influence. Now why did the drunk driver not have a better judgment? The judgment of the drunk driver was left at the party, and now those 40’s aren't worth the 15 years of imprisonment.
Now that i have explained why teens aren't responsible enough to drink because of their lack of judgment, i will justify how harmful alcohol can be on your health
anyone who drinks alcohol puts their body in serious fault of hurting their body and can be harmful in many ways.
and although alcohol is a beverage it is also a drug
and can cause many harmful things such as liver damage, cancer, heart damage and even
death. and when women abuse alcohol while being pregnant they put their child at risk of fetal alcohol syndrome when you abuse alcohol the health effects aren't just internal they also deal with how someone looks, when an abuser drinks a consistent schedule they look as if they are aging faster. now some people argue that when they are 17 and 18 it makes them look as if they are legal and it lets them fit in, and sure that may work right now and you may “fit in” now but what happens when you turn 30 and you look as if you are 50, what are you and other people going to think about that, not to mention the other health effects that will disembark around this time. Now with all that said let's go back over what we have all studied today. today i have elaborated on why it is wrong for teenagers to drink alcohol. first we went over why a teenager should not drink alcohol then we went over how teenagers are not responsible enough to drink alcohol
“The harmful use of alcohol is a global problem which compromises both individual and social development. It results in 2.5 million deaths each year. An intoxicated person can harm others or put them at risk of traffic accidents or violent behavior, or negatively affect co-workers, relatives, friends or strangers. Thus, the impact of the harmful use of alcohol reaches deep into society.” This is a scary statistic which figuratively states that every thirteen seconds someone dies in a death related to alcohol. CBS news reported that more than 30 percent of American adults have abused alcohol or suffered from alcoholism at some point in their lives. This is a staggering number which is widely overlooked because alcohol is legal. Those who suffer feel helpless and trapped by their addiction being unable to stop and quit on their own. Thankfully a man named, Bill Wilson, lead a group of men to write how to become set free from the slavery of addiction.
Do we really know how much damage alcohol can do to a person? Alcohol becomes an addiction. Alcohol has its benefits but it also has its downsides. It’s known that alcohol has it’s benefits but if you drink “moderately”. Alcohol can destroy your life and ruin your family. People tend to abuse alcohol, people make bad choices when it comes to alcohol. Alcohol makes you act a certain way when you're intoxicated. Alcohol can cause liver damage and many other health problems. The background of this essay is that I can relate to alcohol usage. Alcohol creates emotional, physical, mental and family problem to a person that abuses alcohol usage.
The teens live in an environment where drinking alcohol is the same as drinking water. They are allowed to drink as much as they would like, as long as they do not embarrass their parents. Many of the teens get drunk for the first time in the eighth grade. That is seven years before they legally should even have their first sip. “Rufus kept the beer flowing out of keg in the bathtub, getting many drunk for the first time” (Ziegesar). Also many of them come into school with horrible hangovers. This shows that these kids are way too young to be getting drunk, because they do not know how to handle themselves properly. Coming to school with a hangover can affect how they learn and keep them from getting the best education possible. This also illustrates how drinking seems so much fun for the kids, but it conveniently leaves out the consequences of this action. Furthermore, irresponsible teens do not think ahead for their future. They do not consider the health risks involved, such as alcoholism and liver
Teenage drinking is among the issues that have received respectable attention from researchers owing to its increase. In the United States as well as other countries, underage drinking has become a prevalent issue with often far-reaching consequences. Teenagers, who engage in binge drinking, are likely to be exposed to other dangers, such as psychological issues, drinking-related accidents, and violent crimes. The increased prevalence of this problem makes it imperative to understand contributing factors, which can help in policy formulation. There are various factors that may increase the chances of teenagers engaging in binge drinking. Some of the factors are socioeconomic, which can be altered to dissuade teenagers from abusing alcohol. Binge drinking can be caused by various personal, social, and economic factors; the practice may have substantial effects on the lives of teenagers, which may even lead to death.
“For every family that is impacted by drugs, there are another 10 to 15 families impacted by alcohol abuse. It's a pretty big deal. We have a tendency to only look at part of the puzzle.” (Kevin Lewis). As a society we tend to categorize the severity of addiction in a way that drugs are the most dangerous and alcohol being just a problem. Because alcohol addiction can be a slow progressive disease many people don’t see it in the same light as drug addiction. An addiction to drugs is seen as being a more deadly and dangerous issue then that of alcohol because a drug addiction can happen more quickly and can kill more quickly. Alcohol is something that is easy to obtain, something that is found at almost every restaurant. People with an alcohol addiction can not hide from alcohol as easy as a drug addict. Approximately 7 million Americans suffer from alcohol abuse and another 7 million suffer from alcoholism. (Haisong 6) The dangers of alcohol affect everyone from children with alcoholic parents, to teenagers who abuse alcohol, then to citizens who are terrorized by drunk drivers.
dangerous for the body, and can many times lead to being very ill or death.
Alcohol abuse is the most common problem, nowadays. In fact, majority of people drink alcohol repeatedly to the point where they have difficulty to stop. Statistics show that, as much as, “40% of college students report drinking five or more drinks in one episode” (Walters & Baer, 2006). Alcohol has become more popular over the years as advertisements, simultaneously with commercials of it, filled the media. It also is easily accessible and cheap in comparison to other psychoactive substances. On the other hand, alcohol safety awareness programs are barely noticeable. My research will present how alcohol and its abuse gets into people’s lives and how it influences their physical and mental health, as well as, social existence.
Alcohol drinkers are getting younger all the time, and the effects are seen everywhere. Dr. J. Edward Hill, president of the American Medical Association, told the 2005 Annual Texas Institute on Substance Abuse and Treatment that underage drinking costs the United States economy $ 4.7 million every hour, almost $105 million a day, and is facing today. When people talk about a bright future in the safe hand of the forthcoming generation, people are ignoring the fact that the future generation is risking their future as also the future of our society, by indulging in drinking from an early age. Teen drinking will probably always remain a problem, but the extent of the problem might be minimized depending on how one can handle the situation in a given society. For example, different cultures have different percentage of teen drinking p...
Topic Sent. Underage drinking and Alcoholism is a huge problem in the United States, and as a society we need to make a change with how everyone sees this problem. Adults and young teens take this topic too lightly and it should not be taken lightly because of how many deaths there have been from poor decision making. “Every year in the U.S., roughly 5,000 people under the age of 21 die from an alcohol-related incident including car crashes, homicides, suicides, alcohol poisoning and other related injuries” (11 Facts About Alcohol Abuse). That is 5,000 more teens or young adults that could be saved from this plague in our society (11 Facts About Alcohol Abuse). There are many programs or events that everyone could fundraise for, however people think this is not a very important problem and that is what people have to realize: this is a serious problem. Thesis:Underage Drinking and Alcoholism is a huge problem in the United States because it causes major health issues that can be very costly, personal life problems that can lead to more problems later in life, and major risks that have no benefit, but can put someone else’s life in danger.
However, out of adolescence ages 12-20 in the United States 11% have already consumed alcohol before the age of twenty- one. More than 90% of the adolescence that consumed alcohol before age 21 consumed alcohol while binge drinking (Fact Sheets). Binge drinking is defined as "an usually brief period or bout of excessive alcohol consumption."(Binge Drinking). Teenage drinking is on the rise because adolescence are experiencing lifestyle and emotional changes. While 11% if our youth underage drinking may not seem like a very large number it is more than most people might think. Underage drinking is responsible for more than 4,300 deaths among our teens and young adults. While you cannot always prevent what teens are going to do you can always look for signs that they are struggling in some aspect of their lives, whether it be emotional or just everyday life. As stated by (Underage Drinking) As children move from adolescence to young adulthood, they encounter dramatic physical, emotional, and lifestyle changes. Our brains are not fully developed until well into our twenties. Adolescence and young adults are not fully developed at this age and may cause them to think irrationally. Adolescence are trying to fix or cope with their life issues by using alcohol. The brain not being fully developed gives some incite as to why adolescence are so adamite to risk taking. This is further exemplified by
Alcoholism is a disease that affects many people in the United States today. It not only affects the alcoholic, but also their family, friends, co-workers, and eventually total strangers. The symptoms are many, as are the causes and the effects.
Due to drinking people are being emotionally scarred, abused, and harming their own bodies. Drunk driving not only puts the drivers life in danger but also puts everybodys lives in danger. Being an alcoholic can really ruin a persons life. Alcohol is very common among minors although it is illegal and harmful to the adolescents’ body. Families of alcoholics can really suffer from emotional problems. Many people enjoy drinking but very few people understand the harm it is doing to the health of their bodies, and how it can ruin their lives. Alcohol causes a person to have negative effects on a person’s overall character, health, and morals.
Another way to help teens avert from using alcohol is to make sure that teens are educated in the dangers and consequences of t...
Peer pressure to drink alcohol can cause personal bodily injury. The teenager who drinks too much can become sick and even end up in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. Excessive drinking, or for that matter, any amount of alcohol can cause someone to pass out, choke on their own vomit and suffocate. It can also make one lose their memory of what happened, perhaps even waking up without any clothes on. This is a disturbing effect of underage drinking. Teenagers and their friends do not always know when they have “had enough” and often drink way too much. Drinking games or binge drinking and the need to “socialize” or “fit in” can lead to these and other dangerous situations.
Many teenagers do not believe that alcohol will damage their mind frame with the choices made while intoxicated are wrong because alcohol can lead to so many regrets that you can never go back and change. Drinking alcohol at a young age can cause your brain from developing properly, prevent oneself from rationalizing with reason while under the influence, and putting yourself or others in danger. Mr. Behan once said, “One drink is plenty and a thousand is not enough” (Brendan Behan). At a young age, you truly cannot recognize what your limitations are when one reasons with oneself that they are having an epic time despite what it will cost you.
