A model is a representation of a physical, structural, or conceptual object or concept. It is important to bear in mind that a model is not the object or concept itself, it is merely a representation of it. It is evident that there will be some noticeable differences or deviations between the object or concept and the model representing it, this will affect one’s understanding . A model is generally used to simplify the complex theory or object. An object would be simplified, and distorted, into a model to be used for symbolic positioning or to show a systematic process. The knower would only be confused if they were to try to comprehend the original complex object, therefore the simplified form of the object facilitates a better and faster …show more content…
By viewing the toy car we can acquire knowledge on the positioning of the car parts, the functions of a car, and, at first glance, an accurate interpretation of a car. From the aforementioned information we can conclude that models provide visualization. Through reasoning I realize the multiple ways the toy car has hindered my search for knowledge. The toy car raises more questions rather than leading me to knowledge; How does the engine work ? How does the car stay assembled ? The limitations of the toy car outweigh the acquirable knowledge of the model. The model itself does not provide an accurate representation of the technicalities of a car or what it feels like to drive a car, but through further research my questions can be answered. It can be considered that models are only meant to represent a certain aspect or function of the original object or concept. The toy car was intended to represent the physical appearance of a microscopic car and not the technicalities of the car. Simplifying the original object makes it easier to understand the visuals of the object, but by doing so one can believe that the simplistic representation is the reality. The incomplete knowledge and information given by the model leads to misunderstandings, misconceptions, false assumptions, and …show more content…
The idol from different religions across the world is a model, because it is a simplified representation of something in the world. The idol is a simplified representation of God. The identity and concept of God is difficult to understand and representing God as an idol helps, but also hinders our search for knowledge. Faith or simply what God looks like is the knowledge used in this model. By representing God as an idol it helps our search for knowledge, our way of knowing God is then augmented through emotion, it is considered to be easier to pray or communicate to an idol, which augments the search for knowledge by conjuring emotions better. The visual representation or presence of an idol of God may cause an emotional response which augments the power of dedication needed to pray. Nonetheless, the idol of God hinders our search for knowledge, because the model of a concept so complex as diverse and an entity as supreme as God may restrict our comprehension of God to that idol itself. God is much more than the simplified visual model of the entity. It is better to accept the model of God as a channel to reach God instead of using the model to comprehend
When ancient people look to understand religion, it is easier for them to relate to a higher power, also known as a god. Throughout the world and through time, there have been hundreds of different religions that have been established, and in the writings by people of these various groups there are often stories about conversation with the gods. This helps other people in understanding and conforming to the same beliefs. Two of such examples of this style of analyzing what gods are, are found in St. Augustine’s Confessions and The Bhagavad Gita.
They have been called "gods." These almighty, powerful beings that are far too superior for us to understand; or so most of us have been made to believe. Some may say he is a Great Examiner, others could say he is the Creator. Some could even say he doesn't exist. Frankly, what I want to emphasize is how such beliefs could reduce even the bravest and strongest of us all to a whimpering child. Something that we ar...
When we take a closer look at the picture, we are able to depict symbols that will means something to us, it is called the paradigmatic analysis. You are able to comprehend a
The socialization of children is greatly affected by the toys they are exposed to while growing up. Looking through magazines and walking down the aisles of toy stores it is clear that toy companies are supportive of cultural gender roles biases. Toys designed for girls are commonly found in pink boxes; typically these toys involve housework or taking care of children, for example, dolls and easy bake ovens. On the other hand, “boy” toys are found in blue and black boxes, and a lot of them involve construction and cars.
In his book written in 1954 Piaget stated that “for young infants objects are not permanent entities that exist continuously in time but instead are transient entities that cease to exist when they are no longer visible and begin to exist anew when they come back into view.” He proposed the notion that infants do not begin to understand the object of object p...

A brief description of the Transformer will be given to identify the characteristics and how they are suitable or not suitable for the recommendation age listed. The toy will be analyzed on specific qualities that relate to how it can foster growth of the child and be evaluated on what the necessary abilities are needed to play with the unit. This toy will also be evaluated as it pertains to how the child would play with the car and if the child would be able to grasp the concept of the Transformer. Other cognitive concepts will be applied to how the Transformer is used and if the child would be able to understand the Transformer. The fine motor skills and gross motor skills used to play with the Transformer car will be another topic of discussion. In addition, the toy will be reviewed to how or if it would be shared within a social environment and if an adult would be able to participate in teaching the child.
To start, physical features and behaviours are crucial to the representations of gods and goddesses. When believers pray for material or emotional gain, they must have something to pray to - a statue or item that can represent the god or goddess to whom they sent their prayers. Humans made these statues, and gave the gods and goddesses that the statues represented human physical and emotional characteristics, in order to explain natural disasters or occurrences. For example, when the sea was rough or when a ship sailed into jagged rocks, the sailors would pray to Poseidon (Greek), Neptune (Roman), or whoever was in charge of the ocean in their religion, and think that the god of the oceans was unsatisfied or displeased with something or someone, thus wreaking havoc on the Earth. Divine beings conducted themselves in a royal fashion, them supposedly in charge of various necessities of life. They did as they wished, for they were immortal, the only restrictions being that they may be punished by the supreme god, which in Greek mythology, is Zeus. To prove, in the myth about the creation of the world's animals, humans were created in the image of the gods, but lacked survival capabilities. Therefore, a Titan named Prometheus stole fire from Mou...
A model is a simplified representation of the structure and content of a phenomenon or system that describes or explains the complex relationships between concepts within the system and integrates elements of theory and practice (Creek et al 1993).
The first theory argues that art is an imitation of reality. The inability to represent reality flawlessly results in a piece of...
Idolatry is no longer the worship of some statue that a person decided was holy, but rather the worship of a God through a vessel which the God once or is still inhabiting. The Hindu Gods and Goddesses choose to come down and possess these images so that Hindus can better worship them with all their senses and love them more through their understanding of seeing and touching a representation of their God. The idea of being on such a personal level with a God might still seem absurd to someone who is monotheistic, but to a Hindu it is absurd to have anything
The average driver doesn’t think about what keeps their car moving or what keeps them on the road, but that’s because they don’t have to. The average driver doesn’t have to worry about having enough downforce to keep them on the road or if they will reach the adhesive limit of their car’s tires around a turn. These are the things are the car designers, professional drivers, racing pit crews, serious sports car owners, and physicist think about. Physics are an important part of every sports and racing car design. The stylish curves and ground effects on sports cars are usually there not just for form but function as well allowing you to go speeds over 140 mph in most serious sports cars and remain on the road and in reasonable control.
Francis Bacon states that idols are errors of human intellect that affect the way people see nature. Bacon says that some of these idols are “innate,” coming from human conception while some are not, coming from belief (Article 1, 1/2). Specifically, he describes four kinds of idols: Tribes, caves, marketplaces, and theaters. It is important to consider this because they influence the way people make scientific observations and experiments to find out what is true.
Now cars aren’t just a way to get around anymore. They are part of a person. The car helps people by the car being a way that the person expresses themselves. Also it cars represent who a person is. If the person a muscle car lover, import lover, or a truck lover. It also turns into a way to help with work. So now the automobile is used in a way to represent a person or a working tool that helps people in everyday jobs.
The above has detailed the concept and the basic features of the model. But what do these features mean in practice? To understand the model, you also need to consider the strengths and weaknesses of the approach.
There are many varieties of gods and the religions that follow. Generally, the god is considered to be supreme to all humans, and have great power and control over all of us. He is the form of all goodness. Gods give individuals purpose and morals to live by. Believing in a superior being gives individuals a reason for living, as most religions that have a God state that their purpose is to be more perfect or God-like so that they may be worthy to move to a heaven or be with their father after death. The morals believers have can be paralleled to the ten commandments or the lifestyle that their god wishes them to lead. Belief can also be a justification of sorts to all followers as it provides a safety net to fall upon. When under times of strife, they can be comforted by his presence. These beliefs are based solely upon faith, as in their lifetime, they will not have seen or heard him. They link good things that happen to them with their god, as a reward for being a just person and feel that good behavior will be rewarded either now or in the afterlife. Believers base their ideas about their idol on the words of others, in particular, the head of their religion, parents and their specific book,...
