What caused Tomi Nakaji to even attempt on bringing up his Papa’s boat? What were the effects of his attempts, were they positive or negative? By an award winning author, in the book “House of The Red Fish”, Tomi Nakaji’s main objective is to bring his Dad’s boat back to the surface of the water. The explanation behind the attempts were because Tomi didn't want his dad’s boat to rot, Keet doesn't want Tomi to bring up the boat, at the same time Tomi doesn't want to listen to Keet, and the only real way to go against Keet was to raise Papa’s water vessel. The never ending steps to bring the sampan back to life made Keet try to halt Tomi’s plans, brawls began that injured people, and treasures were found during the process. First, Tomi felt bad for leaving his Papa’s boat to rot. Since it was one of the only things he had to make money from, (Page 12, “Its Papa’s boat. It was all he had. How can I just leave it here to rot”). This idea leads to Keet threatening him not to (Page 46, “‘you mess with that boat, you messing with me’”). Keet thinks Tomi is planning on using the boat for the Japanese (Page 269, “‘They're bringing it up so they can use it to take fuel out to the enemy’”). Unfortunately, Keet got it all wrong on his conspiracy for Tomi’s plans to raise the …show more content…
While scavenging through the Taiyo Maru, Tomi finds a key that leads to Sanji’s truck, (Page 88, “I checked the pockets, hoping to find something of Papa’s. Anything. But what I found was a key”). Now here comes a negative effect, not only Keet steals things from Tomi and his friends, he also starts brawls with them. Consequently, these fights lead to wounds and injuries, (Page 72, “Rico cracked him again. Flesh slapping on flesh, an ugly sound. I almost felt bad for Keet. Keet stumbled up, blood drooling from his nose”). Technically, the effects of boat repairing on the Taiyo Maru weren't all bad or all

The intent was to destroy American Military power in the Pacific and force the United States to negotiate. The mission’s inability to sink the US carriers on 7 December coupled with the lighter damage to the battleships and relative low casualty number, doomed the Japanese strategic plan. As Japan likely relied on a weaker US seeking negations in their prewar planning, there was no real effort to recalculate their strategic plan. Their subsequent military success in the next several months allowed the Navy to continue waging war without an effective strategic strategy nor did leadership account for the increasing US military buildup in the
Fathers are men who help to shape and mold children, youth, and young adults into the adults they become. Some fathers are biological, but many are men that are introduced through daily interactions and occurrences. The father figure may have a positive or negative impact on the child. This is true with the character Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island. Many characters guide his growth throughout the book with good and bad traits. He looks for a father because his own father is not a factor in his life. He dies when Jim is a young child and does not seem to have a significant effect on Jim’s life. Ben Gunn, Dr. Livesey, and John Silver provide Jim with examples and characteristics he incorporates into the person he becomes. Jim, like many others, find father figures to identify with and pattern their own lives after whether it is a blood relative or a person they choose from their surroundings.
