T’Challa finding out about Erik was a problem because it exposed what his dad did to his brother and nephew. This is an issue for T’Challa, Wakanda, and the WHOLE world because they didn’t know about him and his history. It endangered T’Challa’s dad because he killed his own brother and abandoned his nephew. This made Erik want to take over Wakanda and be King. He believed that he was the best person to take over the throne, and he wanted to avenge his dad. It would have been deadly for the whole earth because Erik wanted to conquer the world and kill anyone who got in his way. Erik wanted to kill T’Challa and all his family because T’Challa killed his own father. Therefore, T’Challa was working the whole movie to try and stop Erik Killmonger. …show more content…
He still cherished Erik no matter what because he was still his cousin and he considered him a close family. This way of getting him to surrender was a peaceful and smart way to try and get him to stop. If he yielded, then T’Challa would have been able to be the Black Panther and King again. Even though Eric said the quote: “I lived my entire life waiting for this moment. I trained, I lied, I killed just to get here. I was killed in America, Afghanistan, Iraq... I took life from my own brothers and sisters right here on this continent! And all this death just so I could kill you.” T’Challa is still nice to Erik and is understanding towards him. Near the end of the movie, T’Challa says to Erik when he was on the ground bleeding “we can still heal you.” This shows that he has compassion for Erik no matter what he did and wants to save him. Yet Erik replies to that saying “Why, so you can lock me up? Nah. I'm not sure what to do. Just bury me in the ocean with my ancestors who jumped from ships, 'cause they knew death was better than bondage’.“ So with that, T’Challa delivers the final fatal stab. Yet again, he shows love and takes him to see the sunrise, like Erik’s dad said. Therefore it is obvious that T’Challa tried to reason with Erik to surrender by being nice to

Hugo's motives are making people think Odin is bad, and getting his father's concentration. Since it is difficult for Hugo to operate the plan (which is breaks up Desi and Odin) by himself, he manipulates Roger, Michael, Odin and Emily to work on his plan. Furthermore, he knows everyone's weakness, and it is easier for him to manipulate others.
The author is clear with the content and has no fear of telling the truth just as Malcolm X expressed himself. Malcolm 's character is strong and full of expression good and bad, Malcolm uses every inch of his time to become the exact person he wishes to be and strives to have the knowledge of whatever may be unknown. Malcolm had a love for his heritage history and what is also expressed is that African Americans are not always seen as the problem. There are many points in the book where it speaks of a white man being the “devil” which is a strong word used for the people who are generally always saying that African Americans are the problem and the ones to blame. The authors purpose is to educate the readers is many different ways and does it through every chapter in various amounts of writing, which describes the beauty and content incredibly
“If there is anybody in this land who thoroughly believes that the meek shall inherit the earth they have not often let their presence be known” (Du Bois). This is a quote from African American rights activists W.E.B. Du Bois. It’s a good example of how he views the situation at this time, and how he works mentally as a rights activist. This was a very dangerous time for the African American population in America. During this time period, there were two very well-known men who protested for rights for the African American community. Their names were Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois. Both had very different views, but were both doing it as a way to help the African American community. However, for this time period, W.E.B. Du Bois’ philosophies
When our parents tell us to “address the police by sir or ma’am, sit up straight, and don’t move too quickly, we ask ourselves why? It is in that moment we realize it is because that the world does not love us and wants us dead. This epiphany hardens us and strips us of our innocence and ability to float through the world. We are weighed down by the weight of hatred towards blacks. Our only chance of being able to free our minds is to live without fear of judgement, and without fear of persecution. Because if we do, we will always be looking behind our backs, overanalysing everything that is said to us, second guessing the work that we do, and never truly be able to trust the
He enjoys what little power he has in the African American community, so much in fact that he says that he would rather see every black man in the country lynched than give up his "power." & nbsp; Ras the Exhorter (later the Destroyer) is the stereotypical black supremacist. One of the most memorable characters to me, Ras battles for social equality; literally. Literally meaning prince in one of Ethiopia's languages and mimicking the sound of Ra, the Egyptian sun God, Ras encompasses the stereotypical black-nationalist. By using these allusions, Ellison is establishing the character's personality even before he acts. Ras's philosophy, one that was unorthodox at the time of publishing, is that blacks should cast off oppression and prejudice by destroying the ability of white men to control them.
... cowardice. For many blacks nonviolence was the only option because violence would have cost them their jobs, their homes, and even their lives. It was a creative way that an African-American could fight for freedom and at the same time avoid genocide, the logical consequence of racism.
At the age of 20, Douglass escaped slavery and was free. He was still being attacked by these awful people and they just wouldn't leave him alone. “The police would not let Douglass into the White House due to his race, but he persisted and would not leave(Freedman 45)Frederick Douglass and his fellow friend Lincoln were obsessed with freedom and that’s how they go along so well. Some bad news came through hand Douglass wasn’t happy at all. “A few days later, Douglass was devastated by the news of Lincoln’s assassination, calling is a “personal as well as a national calamity.”(Freedom 46) In the end, Douglass realized how much he inspired to break away from slavery and make America look at the other side and become friends with one
... the shooting. The issue that caused the events which transpired was not purely structural issue or a lack of tolerance, but that overwhelming fear and hatred causes pointless violence and makes both sides lose their humanity. Whites did not understand African Americans and vice versa. They were both afraid of what the other might do and because of it, they both suffered. This still happens today like how George Zimmerman was accused of killing Trayvon Martin because he was not the right color.
This passage states that “all men are created equal; that they are endowed … with certain unalienable rights”, and the role of the government is to protect these rights of men. However, if the government fails to do so, the people have the right and duty to overthrow the government. This passage is important because it is used to justify their opposition against passive resistance. To dismantle and challenge the hegemonic ideologies of black inferiority, idleness and submissiveness that prohibited the formation of an equitable society, the text suggested that African Americans bear arms for self defense against brutality, force and violence by racist police. In order to obtain equal access to educational and employment benefits, the text written by Black Panthers recommended taking affirmative actions and advocated to overthrow the U.S. government using violence and guerilla tactics. This solution to challenge hegemonic ideologies contrasted with Martin Luther King’s solution of
...on to create equality was too ideological. The members of the Black Panther knew that their goals were impossible to reach. There is a movement called the “New Black Panther Party” that deals with the issues that the Black Panthers never completed. Possibly, if the Black Panthers had tried more to fit into the community and had been less radical, their party may have lasted longer which would have led to greater effectiveness.
Nearly all of the problems the Black Panther Party attacked are the direct descendants of the system which enslaved Blacks for hundreds of years. Although they were given freedom roughly one hundred years before the arrival of the Party, Blacks remain victims of White racism in much the same way. They are still the target of White violence, regulated to indecent housing, remain highly uneducated and hold the lowest position of the economic ladder. The continuance of these problems has had a nearly catastrophic effect on Blacks and Black families. Brown remembers that she “had heard of Black men-men who were loving fathers and caring husbands and strong protectors.. but had not known any” until she was grown (105). The problems which disproportionatly affect Blacks were combatted by the Party in ways the White system had not. The Party “organized rallies around police brutality against Blacks, made speeches and circulated leaflets about every social and political issue affecting Black and poor people, locally, nationally, and internationally, organized support among Whites, opened a free clinic, started a busing-to prisons program which provided transport and expenses to Black families” (181). The Party’s goals were to strengthen Black communities through organization and education.
According to Apel (2014), on August 9,2014, Michael Brown,18, an unarmed black man of Ferguson, Missouri was shot and killed by a white police officer named Darren Wilson. Considering the evidence, a grand jury decided not to indict Wilson. This sparked a nationwide protest. People came from near and far to protest the judge’s decision. It was no peaceful protest, it might have appeared to start out as a nonviolent protest, but like many protests, it quickly turned violent. People wanted justice and the people felt as though the system once again had felled them. Barnett (2014), a reporter says that after the shooting groups such as the “New Black Panthers,” demanded a rebellion against the officer who shot Brown. For a while the head of police was not going to reveal the name of the officer who killed the Brown, but after a series of violent protest, the head of police released the officer’s name. If violence was not used during the protest it would not have received worldwide attention. Furthermore, the public would not have known the officer who killed Brown. Due to the amount of attention the Michael Brown’s case received and because of the amount of passion the protestors had and how they were willing to die to get their point across sparked attention. Requiring many people who were in the political spotlight to
