Religious freedom worldwide is being threatened as a whole, but not by you. If not by you, then by who? Your government is the answer. We all have different points of views on how well we believe our government runs our country, but are they over stepping their power? In a similar way that Napoleon destroyed the philosophy of animalism in Animal Farm, Governments in other countries are doing the same to their own people’s beliefs today.
One prominent example is the destruction of religion in Indonesia. In 2005 the Indonesian Ulama Council issued a decree declaring that Ahmadiyya was to stop public workshop and the teaching or religion within public schools (Schulzke 2). “This violates freedom of religion which is guaranteed by the constitution.” (Schulzke 2). This law was immediately attacked by Indonesia’s largest Islamic organization arguing, that this new law would violate the first amendment of the constitution. The law was created to stop teachings that deviate from the principal teachings of Islam. This law, that was enforced by the government, was considered a “deviant act” or abuse by the government in the eyes of their people (Schulzke 2). This is important to understand because it shows how governments can restrict religious views without much consequence other than a few protestors.
Religious issues also show up in the book Animal Farm written about 60 years ago. “The pigs had great difficulty in making them see that this was contrary to the spirit of Animalism.” (Orwell 7). This quote is showing the spirit of Animalism, Animalism which is the behavior that is characteristic of or appropriate to animals, particularly in being physical and instinctive.. Only to be counteracted when Napoleon took power over the f...

It was was a dark night, all the animals huddled around Old Major to hear what he had to say about his dream. It turns out Old Major talks about rebelling against man so that all animals can have a better life. Ironically, after Rebellion, no one except Napoleon has a better life and he makes their lives even harsher. This is a story of communism, this is the story of Animal Farm.
Although George Orwell’s Animal Farm was created in order to mimic individuals as well as occurrences that took place during the Russian Revolution period, it is still possible to gain a comprehensive understanding of the text without a past knowledge of history through the exploitation of human nature’s imperfections. Following the publishment of his novel, Orwell confirmed that his goal in writing this fable was to expose the wrongdoing of the Soviet Union as well as the treachery of the true ideas of the Revolution. Nonetheless, there have been several other examples of events such as the French Revolution that can effortlessly be contrasted against components of the allegory. However, we need not to dig no deeper than to the fundamental faults in human nature to witness the catastrophic consequences that attributes such as hierarchy, propaganda and betrayal have on today’s society.
Persecution happens to many different religious groups worldwide – not just one in particular. In North Korea, Christians are treated horribly. They are not allowed to express their religion, or even own something as harmless as a Bible without severe consequences. In North Korea, “Being caught with a Bible is grounds for execution or a life-long political prison sentence. An estimated 50,000 to 70,000 Christians live in concentration camps, prisons, and prison-like circumstances under the regime of leader Kim Jong-Un” (Miller). Christians are living in awful circumstances and in some cases are being put to death, all for something as innocent as owning a Bible. In addition, Atheists are being persecuted in many areas in the world. Throughout the world, “Restrictions are many. IHEU figured that ‘in effect, you can be put to death for expressing Atheism in 13 countries’” (Bandow). Not following or identifying with a religion is something that cannot be controlled– yet in 13 countries, Atheists can lose their lives for choosing not to believe in any faith or spiritual deity. Murdering a human being for something beyond their control is not a humane thing to do. Sunni Muslims are persecuted against in many parts of the world as w...
George Orwell's novel Animal Farm is subtitled "a Fairy Story", a label that may make the book seem innocent and appropriate for children and classroom settings. However, the title is misleading. Animal Farm is a work of Communist propaganda. It outlines and even encourages the overthrow of the government, and explains how to set up and maintain a communist state. It portrays government as corrupt and the public as stupid and easily manipulated. Orwell himself wavered between being a socialist and an anarchist.
The pigs developed Old Major’s teaching into a complete system of thought: Animalism. Rules of equality, formality, and hard work was proclaimed and encoded in The Seven Commandments - ';an unalterable law.'; The animals enthusiasm was expressed through a hymn, ';Beasts of England.';
Steven Smith’s book The Rise and Decline of American Religious Freedom shows how fragile religious freedom is. He does this by developing liberal-pluralist secular orders that has to be tested. Smith attempts to reverse popular opinions about the meaning of religious freedom in America. He does this by explaining the standard story versus the revised, the meaning and significance of the first amendment, the true “American settlement,” and why the American settlement has come apart.
Animal Farm, by George Orwell portrays the bad outcomes that can occur when there is a naive working class. Animal Farm tells a story of a farm whose animals are fed up with the treatment that they were receiving. The animals cause a rebellion and create their own rules and divide the work up to create equality for all. In the process the pigs and dogs become more equal than the others and by the end of the story all the other animals can not tell the difference between the humans and pigs. Animal Farm introduces the naive working class by the instances where Squealer fell off the ladder, Clover thinks about what the rebellion was suppose to envision, when the animals wave to Boxer as he is sent off, when the rules change to one single rule,
The animals in the book “Animal Farm” hoped to achieve unity, equality. trust/truth, prosperity, better quality of life, freedom and individuality, in terms of the revolution. This was achieved at the beginning of the revolution, which made it a success, but in the end the revolution was a failure.

Writers often use social criticism in their books to show corruptness or weak points of a group in society. One way of doing this is allegory which is a story in which figures and actions are symbols of general truths. George Orwell is an example of an author who uses allegory to show a social criticism effectively. As in his novel Animal Farm, Orwell makes a parody of Soviet Communism as demonstrated by Animal Farm's brutal totalitarian rule, manipulated and exploited working class, and the pigs' evolution into the capitalists they initially opposed.
Throughout history, American and World, Religious Freedom has become a growing issue. It has been addressed in various ways, but how can we, as a people, preserve our rights to religious freedom? What is the government doing to protect our religious freedom? How have others actions affected our rights concerning religious freedom? There are organizations working internationally to protect our rights and there are religious groups working individually and together to assure that we can exercise our rights fully.

Religion is an organized system of beliefs, practices, rules and ceremonies used to worship a god or groups of gods. Religion as an organization has an overall leader who is normally elected by a special council of church leaders. From this the church is seen to have defined structures that enable it perform its duties. On the other hand, the State is an organization that is the governing authority of a political unit. The leader of a state is normally elected by the majority. This shows how religion is closely related to the state in terms structures and management. The relation between religion and state is a very important subject that helps in the establishment of the political philosophy of a state. However, at some point the religious demands conflicts with the political philosophy of the state. For example, in the case of the Islam that demand absolute obedience to Allah’s will.
