bill. The designs and symbols of the Great Seal The design of the Great Seal of the United States represents a nation made of many small colonies. On the front of the Great Seal is an eagle holding a shield with thirteen stripes. The thirteen stripes represent the first thirteen colonies. In the eagleś right talon there is an olive branch, which represents peace and in the left talon there are thirteen arrows, which represents the United States military might. In the eagleś beak it holds a ribbon that is engraved with the words “e pluribus unum” which means “out of many, one” which shows that the thirteen colonies became a nation when they all decided to be united. There is also a cloud with thirteen stars above the eagle on the Great Seal that represents the thirteen original states. On the back of the Great Seal there is a pyramid with thirteen layers that represent the first thirteen states. On the bottom layer of the pyramid it shows you the date of the Declaration of Independence, 1776, in roman numerals MDCCLXXVI. Below the Great Seal of the United States there are words engraved that say “Novus Ordo Seclorum”, which means “a new order of the ages”- that is, “the new American Republic”. There is also the eye of providence above the incomplete pyramid in the Great Seal of the United States. Above the eye of providence there are also the words “Annuit Coeptis” which mean “He favors our undertakings”. The shield that the eagle has the three colors, white which stands for purity and innocence, red that stands for hardiness and valor, and blue that stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice. It is told that, “The Great Seal of the United States stands for the power and authority of the United States government”. “It is the official symbol of the United States”. It is a great symbol of freedom in the Americas. Some say that, “the eagle on the front of the Seal stands alone showing that the United States can do the same”. What was the purpose of the Great Seal of the United States?
The Great Seal has influenced the U.S. in many ways. It is said by many that “the symbols on the Great Seal reflect the beliefs that the founding fathers wanted to pass on”. The beliefs of the Seal are priceless because many of the people in the nation believe it to be a patriotic symbol. To the citizens of United States it is a symbol of peace, power of the military, purity, innocence, hardiness, justice, freedom, and the unity of the first thirteen colonies. It is said that, “the Great Seal is kept in the exhibition hall of the department of state building in Washington, D.C. and is only used for important government documents”. After 6 years of hard work the Great Seal of the United States was accepted by the constitution congress. It seems that the symbols on the Great Seal have inspired many of the people in the United States. The Great Seal seems to have a big impact on the United States. The Great Seal has been in the United States for more than 299
years. It is respected by everyone in the United States. It is an important part of the United States’s past, present, and future. It will forever represent the importance of the United States of Americas. It was created only by the hard work from the three committees that the constitution congress created many, many years ago. It would not be here if the congress hd not decided to create a Seal that represented their beliefs for the United States. What I have learned from my “The Great Seal of the United States Report” I have learned a lot about the Great Seal from doing this assignment. It is an important symbol of the United States. It is just so fascinating that a single Seal can represent so much about our nation and its strength. Before starting this project about the Great Seal I never even knew that how important it was for the United States. Now that I have completed this project I believe that I have all the important information about the Great Seal learned and memorized. The only thing I knew was that the Great Seal has an eagle and can be seen on the back of a dollar bill. I never knew what the words on the Great Seal represented or what they meant but today I know that those words represent a lot about the United States of America. Neither did I know what the pictures on the Seal meant. The pictures of the eagle, olive branch, shield, cloud, pyramid, and arrows symbolizes peace, the first thirteen states, and the military might of the United States. And now it seems why the Great Seal is believed to be a patriotic symbol.
From five states arose delegates who would soon propose an idea that would impact the United States greatly. The idea was to hold a meeting in Philadelphia called the Constitutional Convention in 1787 meant to discuss the improvements for the Articles of Confederation and would later be called the United States Constitution. The United States Constitution was greatly influenced by Ancient Rome, the Enlightenment, and Colonial Grievances.
On September 28, 1787 Confederation Congress sent out the draft of the Constitution. This was the first time in history for the people to debate, discuss, and decide with a vote for how they wanted to be governed. There were two groups that debated the thought of the Constitution. They were called Federalists and anti-Federalists.

This separation does

The Washington Square Arch is a semi-circular arch and contains all of the characteristic parts of an arch: keystone, voussoir, impost, and an abutment. It also contains an entablature with a frieze and is highly decorated. The keystone on both the north and south sides sits at the apex on the arch and holds a pedestal with an eagle perched at the top. The voussoirs on both sides are also flanked by angels. The abutment surrounding the arch contains shields at the center and two crossed swords below it. The frieze above it and behind the eagle contains alternating wreaths with stars in the center, totalling in 13 stars, and “W’s” flanked by what I believe to be olive branches. The entablature continues upwards with a cornice showing dentils and then a quote at the center top. It says, “Let us raise a stand to which the wise and the honest can repair. The event is in the hand of God,” quoted from George Washington himself. On the north face of the arch, there are two statues of George Washington. The statue on the left shows him as the commander-in-chief and and the statue on the right shows a statue of George Washington as the president. In both statues, there representations of Fame, Valor, Justice, and Wisdom surrounding
On July 4, 1776, the United States of America's Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Second Continental Congress, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This document, primarily written by Thomas Jefferson, announced that the thirteen colonies were declaring their independence and, in doing so, were independent states apart from the British Empire. The Declaration of Independence is comprised mainly of colonial grievances and assertions of human rights. The Declaration of Independence formed a profound foundation for the forefathers who wrote the United States of America Constitution and Bill of Rights and, therefore, the United States of America government.

The Mayflower Compact was signed on November 11, 1620 on board the vessel Mayflower. The Mayflower Compact was signed by forty-one men on board the ship. The main person responsible for this was William Bradford. He said the reason for writing this is he was afraid of mutiny, and another reason was he thought they needed a form of self-government. This document was the first colonial agreement that formed a government by consent of the governed. The compact gave the settlers a plan to frame and enact laws for the general good of the organized settlement.
