Resources for plant owners seem to share a common theme: finding the most suitable plant for an individual. Some popular books are “The Complete Houseplant Survival Manual’ by Tovah Martin, “The Indestructible Houseplant’ by Tovah Martin, “House Plants, indoor plants anyone can grow” by Paul Williams. All of them provide a list of plant species with description that explains what about them makes them an ideal houseplant. There are lists of plants that improve air quality, boost people’s moods, are pet friendly, need minimum care, match a personality type, etc. The first step to finding the right houseplant for yourself is understanding the plant’s characteristics and needs. These behavioral shifts can be triggered by certain plant colors, textures and their company in general. Health line even offers a quiz that tells you what plant matches your personality type. The fear of killing a houseplant keeps a lot of people from ever becoming a plant owner. What people don’t know though, is that there are plants that can almost take care of themselves. Snake Plants, Rubber Plants, Spider Plants, Aloe Vera and Philodendrons are fitting for brand new plant parents.
