There is nothing more fulfilling than taking a bite of homemade pecan pie. The rich, thick, sweet flavor gives me an indescribable feeling of satisfaction. It always brings me back to when I was younger, I would sit at my grandma’s house and eat her homemade pecan pie. Nothing can compare to a pie that is made with love and entirely fresh ingredients. A home cooked pecan pie will not use prepackaged food. Every aspect of the pie is made from scratch. From the flaky crust, to the dense filling, the whole pie is made carefully. In the homemade pecan pie, the pie crust is made by scratch. It takes more time, but that is what makes it extra special. The ingredients between the homemade and restaurant style are similar, but since the crust is hand made, that requires many more ingredients. For the homemade pie you need sugar, flour, and salt. None of those are required for the filling or the restaurant style pie. The restaurant style pecan pie focuses on time and quantity versus quality. This recipe requires the pecans to be roasted, so a baking sheet is required for them to be baked at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. After the pecans are prepared and the filling is made, the filling is put into the crust and baked for 40 minutes or until it is set around the edges.
