The Holocaust was persecution and murder of six million Jews. The act was done by Nazis known as Hitler's followers. It was an event of depression many lives were taken and Jews had to go through a harsh time. Since the germans believed they were superior to the Jews and blamed the Jews for all their failures they decided to try to eliminate their whole kind. I will explain some of the issues and experiences the Jews faced. I will also talk about how certain things happened, how the Holocaust could of been stopped and lessons learned from the event. Jews were treated unfairly and faced hardships that changed their lives.

greatly was the Jewish population. On November 1938, windows in Jewish shops were smashed while 100 were killed and thousands were arrested. The Jews were separated from others and sent to live in ghettos, Jews were taken from the ghettos and sent to death camps. They already felt different from others not just the separation but even the yellow star of David that was on their clothes. When people seen someone wearing the yellow star of David they automatically know they are a Jew. Some of the Jews were lucky and survived and were able to tell their experience. Jews got selected for slave labor and worked without rest. Many switched from camp to camp and catched sicknesses like pneumonia. Marie Knox had said “the only reason for this treatment was that they were Jews.” Could the Holocaust have been avoided ?
Yes there are many things that could've been done that would've stopped the horrible process, of murdering and torturing the Jews. For instance if the Spanish republic had been helped and won the civil war, Nazis Germany could of been much more cautious. Also If Britain didn't decide to continue after the fall of France there wouldn't have been mass killings because they started to happen when Britain chose to fight on. Another thing is if the U.S and other countries had accepted the Jews to emigrate in their country before world war 1 many lives could of been saved, and the Holocaust could of had a chance of not occurring. Hitler himself could have been stopped early before he gained a lot of power and control over europe. If the United States had not been isolationist and took action with Europe, Hitler could of had been …show more content…
terminated. Not only was the Holocaust just a horrid event , it was an event that taught us lessons today that can help prevent situations that happened in the Holocaust. Numerous lessons can be learned , one of them is that every person can make atrocity go away if they try instead of letting the situation happen, and thinking it will go away by itself. The holocaust also teaches that when a government is given power of life and death over citizens with no one to protect them, a genocide is most likely to occur. It's sort of saying how governments need independent judicial branches. Tolerance is also a big lesson from the Holocaust, the Nazis refuses to accept the Jews for the way the are, which caused them to even judge others because they didn't have tolerance. The responsibility to educate can also be learned, if people are educated and taught about the Holocaust, it will have a much lower chance of repeating. At the time of the Holocaust Nazi policies had a big impact on the Jewish communities. They were very eager to take over states and deal with their enemies . the Nazis started harassing the Jews in march 1933 and probably earlier. They attacked the Jews on the street, sometimes so much that they die. Jews were also forced to clean the dirty streets and do things they had no interest in. Once the Nazis began to make prejudice laws against the jews, their lives started to change. Even though the Nazis rose with hitler, they made it more possible for the torturing of Jews to begin and continue. The Holocausted had too many deaths and diseases statistics. Two million Jews were killed by the Nazi death squad while 3.3 million Jews were killed in bass chambers. The Jews were trapped in an airtight room which they breathed in poison. When the jews were sent to the ghettos 500,000 died of hunger disease and weakness. They weren't cared for and were treated like they were worthless. A huge number of Jews were also killed at the camps, 1,500,000 jews were murders at Auschwitz, 360,000 at chelmno and other more deaths at different camps. Overall the Jewish population was in great danger, and had many statistics of death and disease. The Holocaust started to begin when Hitler rose to power. In the early 1930s Germany was in a great depression, people were out of work and the economy was not doing so well. They had a weak government and needed someone to guide them in success. That's when Hitler came in he was a great speaker and attracted many of the Germans. People believed in him and trusted him to overcome the depression they were in. The Nazis rose with Hitler and soon became known. Hitler started to get trust from people and become very powerful. He soon became prejudice towards the Jews and people listened to him which caused the tragic experience for them. Like the Nazi's hitler had a big impact on the Holocaust. In the time of the Holocaust a young girl named Anne Frank was a Jewish victim of the Holocaust.
She is one of the most discussed victim and had a touching story. Anne was a german-jewish that was forced to go into hiding during the tragic event. Her family and four other people went in hiding in an annex over two years in Amsterdam. Anne and the people she was living with were soon betrayed by someone. And the Nazis took them to concentration camps. They faced troubles and even separation from each other. In the end, Anne's whole family was gone even herself except for her father. Which then her father read her diary she wrote during the time she was alive and he ended up publishing it. Today Anne's diary is a book, and one of the most powerful memoirs of the
Holocaust. Another shocking event that happened was the death marches the Jews who were imprisoned, and others were forced to walk miles in bad conditions to go where the SS wanted them to go. The SS guards killed prisoners who could no longer walk. They were guards to concentration camps, like Nazis they tortured the Jews. Hundreds of prisoners were shot while others died of hunger and exhaustion. The reason for all the movement, was because the SS didn't want prisoners to be found by their enemies and tell their experiences. It was a horrible experience for the Jews, they were forced to get up and walk long miles. Having no food and they walked in horrible conditions. The Holocaust had lasted for 12 years until 1945 when the allies started to take over the Germans campss. The Americans and the other allies soon began to take Hitler from power slowly. They had soon taken over Auschwitz and taken hitler from power. Which led to a growing survival rate of Jews. When allied forces invaded Germany, Hitler knew his time was over. On April of 1945 before he was going to get captured, he committed suicide. Nazis also followed his steps and killed themselves, afraid of being captured. That's when the torturing stopped and the Holocaust was finally over. Throughout the Holocaust many life changing events happened to the Jews. A lot of events happened that teaches us lessons about tolerance and equality. Millions of Jews were murdered and luckily there were survivors. They shares their experience of pain and hope. The Holocaust is a very important event to remember and educate people about. It would be tragic to repeat the horrid event. There were many criminals during the Holocaust, I think the main ones were Hitler and his followers. They can be known as the Nazi's or the SS guards. Lives were lost while the economy was slowly turning on the Jews, hard times soon became their daily activity.
The Holocaust could be best described as the widespread genocide of over eleven million Jews and other undesirables throughout Europe from 1933 to 1945. It all began when Adolf Hitler, Germany's newest leader, enforced the Nuremburg Race Laws. These laws discriminated against Jews and other undesirables and segregated them from the rest of the population. As things grew worse, Jews were forced to wear the Star of David on their clothing. The laws even stripped them of their citizenship.
The Holocaust was the time period when Adolf Hitler was in control of the territory of Germany and wanted the extinction of the Jews. The Holocaust was a very vigorous on the Jews because they were treated the worst and had the worst living conditions. The Holocaust derived the Jews of their wealth, and little bit of humanity that they held dear to themselves. Adolf Hitler established laws to make it basically illegal to be a Jew in Germany. Since Adolf Hitler was in power he commanded that all Jews properties and valuables be taken. For example, in the book “Maus” it states, “He had to sell his business to a German and run out from the country without even the money.”(
The Holocaust was a horrible time for everyone involved, but for the Jews it was the worst. The Jews no longer had names they became numbers. Also they would fight and the S.S. would watch and enjoy. They lost all personal items, then forced to look and dress the same. This was an extremely painful and agonizing process to dehumanize the Jews. Which made it easier to take control of the Jews and get rid of them.
The Holocaust could have been avoided in many ways, the main way is, if people worked as a team to overpower Hitler than the Holocaust would have been avoided. But Hitler, being Hitler wanted power and nothing else. By working together than Hitler could have been taken down. Yet countries wanted to not to get involved with a Nazi Party capable of unimaginable dangers and did not want to start another World War, instead they wanted life to be better and peaceful. So by not helping overthrow Hitler they let him gain more and more power, which eventually lead to the Holocaust killing thousands of people, which could have been avoided if countries stepped in and stopped
The Holocaust was the genocide of approximately six million people of innocent Jewish decent by the Nazi government. The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history due to the idealism that people were taken from their surroundings, persecuted and murdered due to the belief that German Nazi’s were superior to Jews. During the Holocaust, many people suffered both physically and mentally. Tragic events in people’s lives cause a change in their outlook on the world and their future. Due to the tragic events that had taken place being deceased in their lives, survivors often felt that death was a better option than freedom.
For some, it seems that the Holocaust in another lifetime, but for others it will be something they will never forget. Holocaust was a time for fighting. The Jewish would fight for the right to live as they were killed solely for being Jewish. The Holocaust began in 1939 and would continue through 1945. It was introduced by Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, although he did not act alone. His mission would be to “exterminate” all minorities, but most abundantly, the Jews. Based on information given by About.com, it is estimated that 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust. Six million of these were Jews.
I think a big impact on the life of Jews would be their belief in God
When World War 2 broke out in 1939, the United States of America was facing the dilemma of whether or not to intervene in the massacre known as the Holocaust. Some people believe that the United States did all they could to help the victims of the war. Some believe that America did hardly anything. But, there is stronger evidence pointing towards the fact that the United States did not do enough to stop the killing initiated by Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi army.
What is genocide? “Genocide is a deliberate, systematic destruction of racial cultural or political groups.”(Feldman 29) What is the Holocaust? “Holocaust, the period between 1933-1945 when Nazi Germany systematically persecuted and murdered millions of Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Jehovah's Witnesses, and many other people.”(Feldman 29) These two things tie into each other. The Holocaust was a genocide. Many innocent people were torn apart from their families, for many never to see them again. This murder of the “Jewish people of Europe began in spring 1941.”( Feldman 213) The Holocaust was one of the most harshest things done to mankind.
One cold, snowy night in the Ghetto I was woke by a screeching cry. I got up and looked out the window and saw Nazis taking a Jewish family out from their home and onto a transport. I felt an overwhelming amount of fear for my family that we will most likely be taken next. I could not go back to bed because of a horrid feeling that I could not sleep with.
The holocaust was a horrible and unthinkable event in history. It was instigated by one cruel individual with the right tactics to get millions of followers. This man was known as Adolf Hitler. Hitler was a very powerful and convincing individual. He made the German people believe he was a compassionate man looking at the best options to get Germany back to where there needed to be post WWI. Hitler did not step into office and bluntly tell the German people he was going to completely annex the race of Jews. If he did this then he would have never been given the authority he was given. With that being said, the German people as a whole should not be guilty. Majority of the German people supported Hitler for many reasons. He found ways to get
Anne Frank was a German-Jewish diarist. She was known for the diary she wrote while hiding from anti-Jewish persecution in Amsterdam during World War II. Her diary describes with wisdom and humor the two difficult years she spent in seclusion before her tragic death at the age of 15. Since it was first published in 1947, her diary has appeared in more than 50 languages. Perhaps more than any other figure, Anne Frank gave a human face to the victims of the Holocaust.
The Holocaust was a devastating period lasting from 1941 to 1945, secretly known as the persecution of Jews. The Jews were targeted by the Germans in many aspects. The Jews were persecuted by a means of fear, their living situations, and the post trauma the survivors have to deal with. In all these ways the Jews were not given the same rights as people of another religion they were restricted of many freedoms, this occurred in the graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman. Spiegelman accurately portrays persecution through the eyes of his father, Vladek by explaining in detail what he had to go through at this time.
The Holocaust was one of the most tragic and trying times for the Jewish people. Hundreds of thousands of Jews and other minorities that the Nazis considered undesirable were detained in concentration camps, death camps, or labor camps. There, they were forced to work and live in the harshest of conditions, starved, and brutally murdered. Horrific things went on in Auschwitz and Majdenek during the Holocaust that wiped out approximately 1,378,000 people combined. “There is nothing that compares to the Holocaust.” –Fidel Castro
“It's high time that Christians made up their minds to do something . . . What are we going to show in the way of resistance-as compared to the Communists, for instance-when all this terror is over? We will be standing empty-handed. We will have no answer when we are asked: What did you do about it? ”
